You are wrong. They are at least 5 levels above us as they have:

Better goalkeepers

Better defences

Better midfields

Better attacks

And lastly, Better managers.

and better caffeine apparently 😉

That was different because at least then we didn’t have players who have their minds elsewhere. And even then they still almost bottled that whole season.

And lol at “sucking off opponents”. Liverpool are two classes above us. So are City. Play City 9 more times in that CL final and we will lose at least 7 of them.

In a league season? Sure. In head to heads it's a totally different story, Tuchel has not lost to Klopp on regulation play since he's been here and even under Sarri and Lampard we played well against them more often than not (granted their clinical edge often was the difference but many Liverpool fans told me how we were a bad match up for them).

There are often fine margins involved. If Leicester had beaten Spuds, and we then went on to lose the CL final, I am not sure that Tuchel would have lasted the summer. We know how managers fare in the past under such expectations.

There could be fine margins involved this season too after today. The general consensus is that 4 points will be enough because Spuds will lose to Liverpool next week, and we have a massively better GD. But what if Spuds surprise everybody and get a win there? Suddenly we may need 7 points from 12 which looks far trickier given current form.

They won't. Not possible.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised at all. The most Spursy thing that they could do would be to win there, get all their fans believing, and draw at Norwich on the last day of the season 😉

Who knows whether Lukaku was really his choice? Either way though he sanctioned the signing so at that point he is always going to be held accountable.

I would argue that some of the club's decisions on outgoings were even worse last summer though. We let both Tammy and Giroud leave, plus Broja on loan, bringing in only Lukaku as striker. Even if he had worked out better, there were still the risk he would get injured and we then had little cover.

We also sold 2 highly promising CB's in Tomori, and Guehi despite knowing that most of our CB's were coming to the end of their contracts. Instead we could have started to phase the older players out this season and brought in Guehi and Tomori. Chalobah and Sarr could have gone out on a loan for a year instead. Now we have a hell of a job ahead this summer to replace the key players in defense.

Tomori was Lampard's fault. Still have no idea why he completely froze him out

Agree, has to find a way to rally the team for top 4 finish.  Anything less would be a pitiful season on top of what is pretty poor.  Truth is though, I'm starting to think this is a Europa League quality team anyway.

TT is the man to lead us forward - I would not trade him.  But I do worry he can't see the forest for the trees at times.  We just repeat the same mistakes and patterns all over, and are surprised when the outcome is the same.  Way too easy to play against Chelsea and get a result these days.  So frustrated at all that is going on at the club - need someone to start running this circus again.  Lost all patience with the players - softest team we've had for decades.

TT sounds frustrated and that he does not have a clue how to fix it:

https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2022/5/1/23052239/very-disappointed-tuchel-puts-chelsea-on-blast-as-bad-mixture-of-results-continues

Basically says if I knew how to fix it I already would have fixed it.

“Very disappointed. We knew what was coming, and like in the last matches, we struggled to have clean sheets. In the last four matches, we have one clean sheet against West Ham, and it is the only win we have. So very disappointed.”

I said it months ago, he can't expect to win every match 1:0. As soon as we concede a goal it's a struggle to win. Sadly this is exactly how he wants to do it:

“If there is something I can do, I will try it, but if I knew about it, I would have done it before. I think, for me, the key is to have a clean sheet. [...] Against West Ham, we had a clean sheet and played without any big mistakes.

How about trying to open up more and score more goals instead of trying to grind out 1:0 wins? That's something he tried in Madrid.

Feels like December/January form all over again. Struggling to score goals, keep clean sheets.

The squad just want this season over with don’t they.

We played an away match 3 days ago and he didn't rotate, that's why there was a dip in performance.

I didn't see much of a difference between Thursday's performance and today's. In fact, Thursday's game was 10x more embarrassing, considering United have completely checked out and gave us the spaces to do whatever we want. And we still couldn't finish them.

Tuchel's job obviously shoudn't be under threat,  but if we finish outside the top 4 the season would have to be classed as a failure, FA Cup or not

I wouldn't class any season where we've had a crazy amount of injuries, contract issues, sanctions, and a change of ownership - a failure. It's simply scratched off and we go again.

It seems that way doesn't it?

Frankly I do as well. Not been fun viewing since that Real second leg.

We have played several matches more than anyone else due to Super Cup and World Club and two cup finals.

Certainly a factor.

Also facing teams who have a week to prepare when we have two matches a week.

Lastly in the last few seasons we have got 4th when around us other teams also could have got 4th instead yet lost matches we would expect them to win.

Not sure how this will play out, thought we would beat Everton until I heard about the fireworks then saw their crowd on the streets and then you realised we would be playing the crowd and ref. not just the team.

Still it took a mistake to let Everton in. We had chances so it is not that they gave up though we should have played smarter and with more fight in the first.

Not over though we need to be smarter and sharper moving forward.

Speaking of Real it's got me thinking. How the hell would we have fitted in the United and Leeds games if we got through?

Unless the Premier League broke their traditional rule and let us play them after the last round of fixtures the only alternative would have been us having to do a Tuesday-Thursday run.

We'll be okay, we will claim the third spot because despite recent results to the contrary, we are much better than either the arse or spuds.

The dippers in the cup will be a tough one but we seam to play a more fluid game against true quality opponents so as we owe them for the League Cup and they will probably be in the CL final, I reckon we'll claim that trophy as well.

While he may have inherited the squad...look at the squad he inherited, not some 2nd rate players by all accounts yet apart from the lucky CL final that is what we are turning into, a 2nd rate team.  The general style of play has been dour for most of the season; he's picked generally the same players in the same formation with generally the same result. He doesn't try anything new, the midfield and the attack is boring as hell and he'd rather play possession based football that starts at the opponents 18 yard box and ends in ours; sideways, backwards, I'm sick of this sh*te.  He rarely has a go at the opposition, no one from midfield consistently drives forward or can take a grip of the game that may change the outcome; the forwards are clueless when they get close to scoring distance and would rather play it back to Mendy some 80 yards away in our own half, no wonder the players are in a malaise, any player would be playing in this team with his tactics he must be boring the pants off everyone when they conduct their pre-match planning. Subs and tactics are made way too late in the game regardless of whether a change is needed a lot earlier.  We will no doubt stumble across the line although we don't deserve too.  He gets a 6/10 for me this season and that is only for the way he handled the sh*te that's gone down with Roman.

Utter tripe. Save for the moments where we've been low on confidence or personnel, the general style of play has been better than every club in the league bar City. Have you watched any Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs games this season? I've seen quite a few Liverpool games as well and they pretty much exist in moments and with ruthless efficiency - not unlike some of the football we've played in the past.

Lampard certainly takes some blame for freezing him out. However Tomori was sent on loan to Milan, with the option to buy, just 3 days before Lampard was sacked. The club could have told Tomori to bide his time and wait to see how things worked out with the new manager, or they could have not allowed Milan the option to buy. Then having done that they let another highly talented young CB leave last summer. Not to mention this with Zouma already leaving, and despite knowing we had 3 key players in defense in the last years of their deals, and another who is in his late 30's. Awful planning, and now we probably will need to sign at least 2 CB's this summer, or risk starting next season with Sarr as one of main CB's.

I hope you are right but we have been lacking team spirit in recent months and that is going to be needed in abundance to avoid this season ending in disappointment.
