Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*

I feel incredibly sorry for Tuchel. He protected us through that sh*t we went through before Boehly came in, handled himself professionally and gave Chelsea fans the belief that whatever happened, we would be okay. Amongst all of that, he was going through his own personal issues with his divorce. This is the thanks he gets?

It really is a disgrace. Honestly, I can't think of a more disgusting sacking in football.

I can, Carlo Ancelotti, after doing the Double, I have always known that would come back to bite us !!

Potter has used 6 different formations in Brighton's 7 games this season.

Mainly 3-at-the-back formations ... but note 2 up top for all home games (and 1 away that he lost at Fulham, who could be his first CFC opponent if this is all concluded quickly)

At least we might see a back 4 now, wish we'd kept CHO around for that.

Don't hold your breath ... Potter has played with 3 centre backs in 6 of Brighton's 7 games this season.

Firstly, to those who are sad, upset, surprised, angry - I feel for you. Sorry that you are going through something that will be hard to stomach for many…

I tried (and succeeded!)to keep off here last night after the joyless and lifeless defeat to Zagreb. I had nothing to say that has not been said by me, @dkw@Scott Harrisand countless others on multiple different times over the last year. But I could not keep off now…

The reality is that Tuchel took a team that won the champions league, and for whatever reason, some (perhaps even most?) of which was certainly out of his control, destroyed it. As a manager of a top team, you live and die by your decisions, and Tuchels decision to stick with the dour, safety first approach, that not only bored fans, but also killed any creativity we had in it.

I am astounded by the timing, having just apparently backed him in the transfer market - which makes me think there is more than meets the eye.

But aside from the timing, I am not shocked, or surprised, and feel it is probably on balance the right decision. I accept that may not be popular, but this stinks of Jose mk2. A high profile incident (Eva vs Handshake), dour and lifeless football, a refusal to change the style and instead say the system is not the problem (simply putting the blame on the players - yet continuing to select them)..

I thank Tuchel for making us European and World Champions….he has his place in history. I will not miss the ultra defensive, ultra negative, ultra low risk football he brought to the table.

But looking forward, I have hope. We ARE a good team. Look how awesome we looked against Juve, against Madrid (2nd leg), against spurs this season….When the players are allowed to play with the handbrake off, then we ARE top class. Unfortunately, we did not do it (or were not allowed to do it) often enough.

I sort of got the feeling that he might have lost the locker room.  I thought he would have at least til the World Cup break but I'm not entirely disappointed either.

Again it's one thing if one or two players stop playing hard, just bench them.  But this whole team top to bottom stopped playing hard outside of Silva and Kova.

Remember posting this after Frank's departure, so may as well add Tuchel to the list.

Managers who lasted less than a season:

  • Avram Grant
  • Luis Felipe Scolari
  • Andre Villas Boas
  • Roberto Di Matteo

Managers who lasted a single season:

  • Claudio Ranieri (previously appointed by Ken Bates, so not an Abramovich appointment)
  • Maurizio Sarri (wasn't sacked, but departed the club to join Juventus)

Managers who lasted 1.5 seasons:

  • Frank Lampard
  • Thomas Tuchel (previously appointed by Roman Abramovich, so not a Boehly appointment)

Managers who lasted 2 seasons:

  • Carlo Ancelotti
  • Antonio Conte

Managers who lasted 2.5 seasons:

  • Jose Mourinho (2nd stint)

Managers who lasted 3+ seasons:

  • Jose Mourinho (1st stint)

Amazing yet entirely predictable - right on cue, social media is flooded with Tweets and excerpts from the usual suspects claiming this had been fomenting for some time, and Boehly had it planned all along etc, etc. Given these same figures were the ones pushing incessant PR about the Boehly/Clearlake ownership big, it seems they are his defacto PR team.

It isn't journalism, it's parasitism for people addicted to gossip.

No manager will ever have a long-term chance at this club.

Tuchel have met or exceeded every goal this club have had in his tenure. Won the Champions League, reached Top 4 in both season (one from a terrible starting position), got us to just about every Cup final and ultimately won three trophies in a year and a half at the club.

If someone with that track record can't be given more than five games to turn a season around no one else will. Good luck Potter but as soon as he face a challenging period he will be out the door as well and round and round we go.

I'm fed up with this.

This is insane, but perhaps even more insane is that Mourinho (first stint) is the longest serving manager since Dave Sexton...

Matt Law is definitely a Boehly PR. He was quiet for weeks in the transfer window and suddenly he's all active the moment Tuchel gets fired.

John Neal was there for 4 years in the 80s, and then Sexton was the longest serving coach before that.

We just don't do long-term projects. Never did it with Bates (most coaches lasted 3 years or less) and Abramovich took it to another level under his ownership.

Even Cundy on talksport being saying "we could see it coming, Cobham isn't right" f**king vultures.

I personally think he'd lost the dressing room, he was a worse tinkerman than the tinkerman himself. Playing players out of position on a regular basis. He was to stubborn to change his tactics, it was inevitable this was going to happen.

I did laugh at some of the fans on Talksport saying I've been a fan for 20 years and I can't believe it, really? It's in our DNA.

That was another disgracful sacking. There is no dignity or class at this club.

Scott, The problem is that this sacking is the latest in a long line that has proved that the practice of hire and fire over an eighteen month cycle, is now this Club's ethos, DNA, soul, whatever you want to call it. We are now known or even renowned for this and I just cannot believe that anyone who has supported the Club as long as most of us on here, are even a little surprised. We get them in, enjoy a period of success, players lose faith with the system and we sack them. Simple as. I am convinced that TT know he was going BEFORE last night's presser, in which he rightly looked dejected, upset, shocked etc. It wasn't the performance that did that, it was the fact that he had been sacked by then. Whilst you say that there is no dignity or class at the Club, in reality, this is no longer a Club, it is a business and business at any level can be cut throat where dignity and class are rude words. TT was paid £15m per year and he knew the risks before he signed up, you come in succeed and you will be fine, but start failing and your arse won't touch the ground.

Personally, I was really fed up with the style of football, tactics, defensiveness (which wasn't working) and total inflexibiilty of TT to change anything. I would have given him until the World Cup break to see if he could turn it around, but honestly did not expect him too.

We went from getting rolled over by every top 6 team under Lampard to going toe to toe with the best teams in Europe under Tuchel. Our players aren't anywhere near the likes of City and Real Madrid yet we've given them a 50/50 game every time. What a joke

As many have alluded to, there was a since of inevitability with Tuchel being sacked. To happen this early however, when there is genuinely no structure in place, is shocking. Tuchel steered us through absolute sh*t last season so he warranted far more time than 7 matches, not to mention they backed him the entire summer.

Tuchel, must have tarnished far too many relationships looking from the outside in, as this makes no sense.

Any chance we could bring back Carlo, now that we have new owners?

Inevitablity? It was 6 games into the season with a bunch of new players. And even then it was 10 points from 6, which is only about 2-3 points worse thann the usual. If Anthony Taylor hasn't screwed us over Tuchel would probably still be in a job
