Tuchel is just too rigid and uncompromising, it looks like his issues of not being able to manage up has bit him again.

We do need a manager who doesn't stifle the attack so much, he used to at least provide the best defence in Europe but we don't even have that any more after spending so much on defenders, what else was there but to sack him now? It probably is better to do it earlier than later.

Direct football has a tendency to break down opposition better than an endless recycling of snail pace possession. Just look at City and Liverpool at their best. It's why I am surprised Tuchel never changed his tactical approach on the matter. Always possession and zero directness. 

So exactly what Tuchel have been lambasted for time and time again then with wingers at wingback then? Sounds promising...

Fair points. Feels like it set off a chain of events that culminated in this moment:

• Chilwell injury causes us to lose momentum, when we were firing on all cylinders up until then.
• Lukaku's interview causes untold damage to the dressing room, and hurts Tuchel.
• Russia-Ukraine war leads to sanctions against Abramovich, which impacts the club.
• The team weathers the storm for a while in spite of the sanctions, but the Brentford loss breaks us especially after we're eliminated from the Champions league.
• Meanwhile, Tuchel is dealing with a separation and divorce.
• New ownership change occurs in late May.
• The club is heavily involved in the transfer market, though some question our transfer strategy.
• Team performance in the new season continues to deteriorate.

It's been an eventful 10 months.

Yes. That injury was certainly where our season started to taper off. I also thought the same when Kante was injured against Spurs. Even if we had managed to win that game, the loss of Kante was a massive blow.

I remember Rogers saying something like " I'm trying to build my career not destroy it " when he was manager somewhere " (Swansea ?) when asked about the Chelsea job years ago.

I hope Potter has the same outlook.

Well I mean Trossard and March looked coached in those roles as opposed to Pulisic or CHO. 

Not expecting great things under Potter but on the bright side we do now have a squad capable of playing progressive football. A DoF arguably more important than a manager atm.

I know Lamptey was out injured for a while last season, so he may have been easing him back. 

The spirit of Roman is still alive, spending millions, sacking managers,  he must still be involved, it's all making sense now !

If things are really moving today in regards to a new manager, then you have to wonder if Boehly and Co already have a DOF lined up but just not announced yet. Perhaps whoever that is has been providing some advice already.

Times have changed, being sacked from a big club especially Chelsea means next to nothing nowadays. Lamps is the biggest example where he got another prem job after being sacked.

At this point any manager who is not at a top job jumps at the opportunity imo, Potter will be here if we are in for him.

Reliable sources reporting that we are meeting with him and his team today. He may even be in place before our next game.

 " meeting with his team" ? Be nice if he brought along the squad but can't see us being able to fit them in surely ?

I would say that it will be a tough challenge for any manager. But nothing has changed there.

I think, and I have nothing to base this one besides his sideline antics, that TT's divorce turned him into a hugely bitter person, and affected the team and his ability to manage it.

I honestly have no idea and do not envy the successor one single bit.  There is still a cultural undertone at the club that we need to rid.

Well there's an understatement 

this year is probably one of the toughest premier league seasons ever. Making top 4 is super hard this with Arsenal and Spurs being in form. Sacking Tuchel for a nobody like Potter is a joke. TT always delivered in the end. At Dortmund the situation was a similar in year two as the squad lost the most important players (Gündogan, Hummels, Mkyhitarian) and they struggled that season especially in the beginning but he still made Top 4 and won the cup in the end.

Well, for me this seems like Boehly and TT just did not like each other from the beginning and the first chance to sack him was used. Especially if it was already decided before the Zagreb game. I'm sure the main players were behind the coach. But Zyiech, Pulisic and maybe CHO made trouble but they all should have been gone before the season began. They are maybe good enough for a mid table PL squad at best.

I don't know if I ever witnessed a worse sacking. Just make a clear cut in the beginning but this is just non sense. Even ManU seems more professional compared to this disaster.
