You can smell the drama and fear. For the first time in a long while we find ourselves back at the big table of Europe, we arrive as a team that is very difficult to beat, something that Tommy Tuchel can take full credit for. I think we have a slight advantage in this game, purely down to TT, most of our players have never been this far, but Tommy has been at the thick end of it, i have confidence he can take us further, but even if we fail, the QF was the realistic target pre-season, however i will be gutted if we don't progress, these opportunities need to be grasped when they come your way.

COYB !!!

Exactly! ;D Having a very good feeling. If that's a good thing we'll see though.

I thought we would meet one of the big boys and go out in this round now think we will beat Porto.

You can never be sure as Portugal often produces good footballers and seem tactically aware yet I have a good feeling for this one.

Yep. We have to make the most of it now.

I think we have the tools to do serious damage in this competition. I said this before the Atletico tie that Tuchel would make us harder to beat, thereby allowing us to go further in the competition than most would expect.

We need a big reaction in this game i am sure we will get it.

                                  Mendy

            Azpi           Christensen        Rudiger

James       Kovacic           Jorginho           Chilwell

               Mount      Havertz          Werner

                                    Mendy

            Zouma       Christensen        Rudiger

James       Kovacic           Kante         Chilwell

                Mount                 Havertz

                                Giroux

If Kante isn't fit then Gilmour alongside Kovacic.

Dont matter who TT picks if they are back to the attitude they had in the last 2 months of Lamps reign we get tonked.

                           Mendy

     Azpilicueta    Christensen     Rudiger

James                Kovacic          Hudson-Odoi

                          Mount

             Havertz             Pulisic

                          Giroud

This would be my lineup, Kovacic at the base with Mount playing a bit deeper between him and Pulisic/Havertz, can't go wrong. One of our best performances this season was at this arena so Giroud starts here again if you ask me.

Honestly, after our superb performances against Atletico, I'd not have entertained the possibility of us getting knocked out by Porto but now it feels as if anything can happen. It's funny how you have one bad game and suddenly, all the positivity from the good run of games before just vanishes into thin air.

Need to drop as many as possible from that line up to let them know that level of effort and performance is unacceptable. It is extreme and I do not see it happening but we should not just brush what happened under the carpet.

Kepa

Azpi

Silva

Rudiger

CHO

Gilmour

Kovacic

Emerson

Mount

Havertz

Giroud

Only Silva, Dave and Kova keep their places. The former because for me he never deserved that red card and we let in 5 with Christensen on. The latter as we need his engine.

And in all honesty if I had someone better than Chilwell to put in for Dave I would drop him too, that mad at our defenders who played most of the game. Maybe one of the youth team CBs could step up

And if neither Kante nor Gilmour are fit- try Mount alongside Kova?

Mount also out - move James in from right back?

No James either - move Christensen up from defence?

....

.....

?

I think the only positive I can take from Saturday is to try and enjoy the fact we have made a CL quarter final for the first time in a long time as there is a realistic chance we wont be playing in the CL next season.

Is it too late to recall Drinkwater or Bakayoko?

I think I can hear the laughter all the way from Portugal as the Porto team watch our match vs WBA.

I'm more worried about Palace next week than I am about Porto.

Unfortunately I don't think Tuchel is, he seems to be using premier league games to rest players for Europe.

You won't find a single manager in world football that won't rest players in between a Wednesday/Tuesday CL turnover.

Fergie came to The Bridge under those circumstances with the title still open and benched Ronaldo (Ballack double game).

We have assembled a big squad to cope with situations like this.

No argument about resting/rotating players. However perhaps he needs to try rotating in some different players next time. Some of those that played on Saturday should be warming the bench for a while based on their performances.

With the injury of Rice, perhaps Wolves can win against West Ham tonight. It will take the sting out of Saturday's performance and hopefully get us focused on moving forward with Porto and the race for top 4. It is looking like 3rd and 4th are all that is available now.

looks that way . Sacrifice top 4 for a risky shot at an unlikely CL trophy.

It'll be a genius move if it works... IF
