A fit Callum Wilson from Newcastle, they'd sell they always do. He did well with the rubbish service he got from his teammates. He'd be great with first class passes into the box.

I like him, always thought, if he got a big club he'd score bags of goals, great around finisher, that would only get better i reckon

The problem with a fit Callum Wilson is he doesn’t stay fit for long...

If we sign a a big money striker, im not sure where that leaves Havertz. The best he has looked for us, is in that false 9 role. If we move him deeper, it leaves us with about 6 players for the 2 positions off the striker.

If we switch to 4231, he is either forced out wide, or competing with mount as the 10.

He is our record signing, he is young, with bags of potential. If we want a big signing to boost the attack, it has to be a Sancho, or a Felix, to help create and score in tandem with Havertz imo.

That’s another good point you raised this is his best role he is a star man in the making let him become one, imagine playing him somewhere less effective to incorporate Lukaku, such a bad move imo.

You have mason that plays perfectly in the role Kai started in, if you bring Kai back there we lose the ability to put 2 pacey inside winger types like pulisic and Werner.

If we stay in a back 3 which would be insane to change after our success the only way of keeping our ability to turn over play fast and shoe in a striker would be to play 1 DM in a sweeper role And have mason or Kai in front of him in almost a 10 but tracking back so the mid isn’t over loaded.

I think eventually James will move inside and why he has been linked with Adama traore so you have basically a winger as wingback which isn’t a bad shout To add to the attack,  he played with that with CHO but I don’t think he was quite right in that role.

In all cases I would be happier seeing us supplement this system rather than any drastic changes because it could backfire drastically.

No doubt we need to put away our chances it’s been an issue but I think an upgraded Werner and let Kai develop in that role, he is strong, intelligent and can finish he just needs time.

We need a plan B, though, for teams that sit deep. A problem we’ve had is that we’ve created few chances against the likes of WBA, Wolves, Arsenal, Leeds or Villa. I’m not sure we can go with 3 at the back against that kind of mid/low table teams, and we need to go 4 at the back to set up a more attacking line up. And I am not sure either that a false 9 works well against defensive set ups, a striker like Cavani or Benzema that have that finishing instinct and quality would be ideal (it’s gained Utd a lot of points this season).

People are after a striker but hear this, I think a striker or at least traditional number 9 target man ruins the way we play, the false 9 suits us, as it did city, football is changing, the 2 best teams in the CL played without a real striker and dispatched everyone, all the big clubs,  we just need to get Kai to tuck them away ruthlessly, or find another false 9 type player or second striker anelka type.

Bayern won everything last year with true no 9

0 impact on Havertz, you replace Werner with that st done.

They win everything every year in Germany they could win the domestic trophies with me up front.

Europe this year though..we beat the team without having a number 9 that beat the team without having a number 9 that then beat Bayern.

Barca were never the same again when they started playing with a strike, I don’t think strikers are becoming a think of the past but I think football is changing in a way that’s shown you can be very successful playing a false 9.

It all comes down to whether TT believes Havertz is our false/#9.

It’s hard to argue that’s been his most impressive position with us. So as Kane and Haaland seem like a no go, I’d be inclined to go with Kai as the main man. It also allows Mount to play closer to the box which is where he was best.

we need mason and Werner to be getting 15 goals each to be really successful though. It’s why it’s a shame we seem completely out of the Sancho running - he would be a massive improvement on ziyech and cho in the squad.

kai or giroud up top (Werner an option)

Mount sancho Werner pulisic for inside forward roles

Lewandowski was injured against PSG, with lewa Bayern would have blown past psg with ease. I believe the last time Barca won ucl they had Suarez as no 9.

People is suddenly happy with false 9 because we played well against City and RM however If you look at our match threads against weaker team you will find tons of complaint of Tuchel playing false 9.

You are absolutely right saying that you can be successful playing with false 9. Is that clear with us? I am not sure

I've said his name twice now Patson Daka,, he is lightning and lethal, albeit at RB Salzburg, but if clop is sniffing
your welcome..

Haaland went through the same club before Dortmund. Him and Sancho would be some great additions for our attack for next season, if we fail to sign Haaland (sell Giroud and Tammy).

Ad an understudy to Chilwell, how would we feel about snapping back up Ryan Bertrand on a free and thus allowing us to move on both Alonso and Emerson?

If he’s not good enough for Southampton I doubt he’s good enough for us. I would prefer looking into the academy to be a back up to Chilwell

He is clearly good enough for Southampton. he's chosen to move on! He was good enough for us when he left, the only question mark over him is persistant injuries. If we could get him we should snap him right up.

How old is he now? I still think of him as a youth team player :laugh2:

How you can say that when Havertz plays more through the middle than Werner?

Mount - St - Havertz

I don't know what is the problem with that front 3. Looks good to me.

Except he’s got a CL winner’s medal with us, probably to old now though

I would rather keep Alonso.

I'm not a fan of Alonso, but I would keep him over Bertrand.

If we want some competition for our wingbacks we should be looking at Hakimi or Theo Hernandez.

Who said Bertrand wasn't good enough for Southampton?. He left because they didn't agree on terms for a new contract.

PVA from Palace too, i believe he's left and now on a free. Counts as homegrown too.

Another option for sure.

PVA is a defensive liability.. wouldnt touch him with a barge pole.. but great to see he had a decent EPL career.

While I get if we are looking at the likes of Haaland, Rice, Lukaku, Kane etc such transfers would be long, drawn out processes what i dont get is if we want Adama Traroe surely that is an easier one to get done unless we are trying to sign Neves at the same time.

Fair enough, I assumed he was released by Southampton
