June 6, 20215 yr Amongst all of this where do we stand on Ethan Ampadu?.. was the next big thing under Sarri .. not much talk about him .. guess the Germany loan really stalled him.. Got some minutes at SHU hope he does well in the euros.. Another player was M.Sarr - no gametime at all this year

Another player was M.Sarr - no gametime at all this year He did really well this year despite Sheffield's results, but somewhat ironically his performances suggest midfield is his best position, and I don't think the club rate him higher than Gilmour for the DM role so he likely will be moved on in the next few years.

But will be interesting to see Ampadu's work. i think both Gilmour and he can be a part of the team if they reach the required levels.. Kante is 30.. I dont think Jorginho will start every game.. A lot will depend on what happens with Rice.

That said, he's perfect defensive foil for Kante and Mount to play their high-energy pressing game and I don't think that Jorginho or Kovacic are much more creative than him. The problem is that there are many players like Ampadu and few like Gilmour in terms of style of play, so the club might see him as the better asset to move on. I also like Ampadu especially now we are playing with three at the back again. I still think that Gilmour's physical game remains the bit question mark.
June 7, 20215 yr Both Ampadu and Gilmour are exceptional young prospects who could certainly develop into top players. Ampadu has the ability to play either CB or DM whereas Gilmour is an out-and-out CM/ playmaker, whose size and lack of physicality could be an issue. I think both are ready to be in the first team squad, and Ampadu could be ideal to start when we want to rest Kanté and Jorginho. Gilmour likewise but he could maybe do with a loan to get some regular football. Of course, both could find their opportunities to start very limited if we land a big signing (like Rice) in their position.
July 1, 20215 yr Still very early but looks like it will be a challenging summer in the market for us. United are about to significantly strengthen with Sancho done and Varane looking imminent. City are the major favorites to land both Grealish & Kane to strengthen their already insane squad. We seem to have lost out on Hakimi, Lukaku (wants to stay) already and I fear we are putting all our eggs in the Haaland-basket which seems like an extremely unlikely deal to me. There will surely be plenty of twists and turns to come but let's just hope we don't go into desperation mode again at some point as we so often have.

WB would be a luxury.

Glad we didn’t pay the €60m+ €10m add on for Hakimi because I wonder what happens if Tuchel decides to bin the formation mid-season. That is almost what Utd are paying for Sancho. Makes you wonder if we were playing a 4-4-2 our signings might be straightforward. My biggest worry is Utd are quietly building a scary side if they get both Sancho & Varane this season irrespective of the manager. Next season they will be better placed in comparison to other clubs to sign Halaand. Throw in them potentially signing Bellingham and a first 11 of Henderson-Shaw—Varane-Maguire-Wan Bissaka- Fred-Bellingham-Fernandes-Rashford-Sancho-Halaand oozes so much quality.

Doubt Haaland would ever go to United ... probably been brought up since birth to hate them as much as his dad does 🙂

I’ve read somewhere that Bellingham is a long term target for us, there’s no point in signing him now. May as well wait until he’s worth 80m

May as well wait until he’s worth 80m He won't want to come now I don't imagine, he probably see's Dortmund as a 3 maybe even 4 year window to develop into a proper world class player then join an elite club once he's at the level to command a undisputed starter place (as talented as he already is he's still not starting for England yet so he may feel it will be a similar song at an elite team at this point). Regarding the transfer window I'm pretty chill, I've got a lot of faith in this squad and most importantly the coach, if we can't find clear upgrades to what we've already got we should go down the January 2020 route and wait it out. The most important signing is probably a second choice keeper, Kepa for a month when Edou goes to the ACON has serious potential to destroy any title bid, especially if it requires a mid to late 90s haul.
July 2, 20215 yr I'd go for Ings, won't play every match yet would likley grab the chance to play for us and is a quality finisher. I would like Grealish though doubt he will come to us. Think we need a decent crosser from the right with some speed too.
July 27, 20214 yr Starting to wonder what the plan is for this summer. Seasons kicks off in two weeks and there doesn't seem to be much happening. Most of our rivals either have or are about to significantly strengthen while we have some glaring weaknesses unaddressed as we speak. I do prefer for us to hold our horses and buy no one at all if our targets are deemed unattainable but we are in no position to compete for the title currently.
July 27, 20214 yr The two best teams have signed one player between them. The only team that have really had a good window so far is offset by still having OGS as manager.

Won’t that make those targets unrealistic then? 2 minutes ago, Argo said: The two best teams have signed one player between them. I reckon Spurs have an agreement to sell Kane to City already but trying to get players in before announcing it.

I haven't seen Man City strengthen yet, and they have lost Aguero?

But they already have far superior squads and City are likely to add Grealish and possibly Kane before the window close. I also think United will challenge for the title this season with the squad they have assembled.

As for United, they may or may not challenged but they have a serious mental problem when it comes to getting over the line, the sample size is too big to be a coincidence.

I think realistically we have 7 days to start seeing movement. It would not surprise me though if the board don't manage to successfully secure any players this summer that enhance the team. Mark this post though; if Tuchel doesn't get his men and the team struggle this season, he will be gone. He's shown that at previous clubs. He is not the kind of manager who will sit around and work for a club that don't back him.
