His stats vs City: passing rate 58%, conceded possession 10 (!) times, aerial duels 0/7. f**king hell.

So that is what near 100mill gets you.

Great job on the board again. Manager wins them the CL and they reward him with a 4th choice midfielder so bad Barkley and RLC moved ahead of him, a 3rd choice keeper inferior to Willy and this egomaniac lump.

Mind you TT is not blame less, he could have said "if that is all I can have I will keep Broja and Gallagher".

I understand challenging for aerial duels isn't a strength of his and that's fine. I'm not expecting him to win every single duel, but zero duels out of seven shows a lack of effort/commitment if anything.

So could you tell me one of his strengths? Because i'm f**ked if i know one.

Every striker doesn't have the same weaknesses Lukaku's got. Most strikers at that level are much better equipped technically, more versatile, have much more to their game  and can create goals on their own even if service is lacking, which is what Tuchel quite bluntly stated in his post match interview. Lukaku's limitations as a player makes the team predictable and easy to defend against, that's why his record vs top sides is abysmal and so will be our team record in these type of matches with him leading our attack.

There's some fair points in here, but we knew what we were getting when Lukaku came back. He's a known quantity. We signed him anyway.

If Tuchel is all of a sudden not happy because Lukaku isn't Sergio Aguero then I'm not sure what to say. There's an argument to say that when you buy a 100m dollar striker maybe you want to focus on his strengths not force him into a system he doesn't really suit.

But that said every striker who has come here recently who hasn't had a decent all round game has been eaten by the Chelsea Number 9 position. Werner, Morata, Michy. Yet we keep buying them...

Maybe if they stopped insisting on the #9 shirt they'd stand a chance.

Someday someone has to break that curse. I hope anyways.

I think Lukaku is just too heavy to play on a modern team at a high level for a full game. He would seem at his best to be a 30 min player that bullies a bit of a tired defense, but seems to me for the full game he wears down more than the defenders. Extra muscle mass is good for some 1v1 confrontations, but I think it affects his quickness and work rate. Where he fumbled with the ball and dove in the 68th minute, instead of just playing Alonso, I think is a good illustration of how heavy footed he can play.

Is there any stats around for the rest of the team? I usually just find those for particular players when a particularly good or bad game has been had

I wanna see stats for Pulisic and Ziyech and focus on winger stats(passing, shooting, creating goal opportunities) … just being curious

Maybe most of the balls comming from Sarr we know how good he can pass under pressure 🙄. He is know for his speed and finishing like Werner for his offside running.

Seems like decent enough aerial balls to me.

Beginning to see another player who doesn't want to be here.

Despite apologising for his Inter outburst, We all know he would go back there in a heartbeat, which confirms to me he would rather not be playing for Chelsea - and it shows !! I saw the stats, aerial duels won - ZERO against two ordinary CB's, both shorter and less bulky than he is, pathetic !! Admittedly, the service he got was very poor too, but had it been better, I think it would have exposed his lack of interest even more.

Imagine how many counter attacks he'd have stated if he played for us in 19/20.

The thing is, when you get someone as overpriced and overpaid, making so little effort, and showing so little desire to be here as Lukaku apparently is, it’s like poison in the dressing room.

And so if he can’t somehow get his act together, and at least make some kind of meaningful  effort to justify his price tag, his wages, and even his presence at the club, then the sooner the club get’s shot of this particular poisonous presence, the better.

Reminder of what Lukaku can do in a well functioning attack. Against top class defenders as well.

People don’t watch him enought. He plays the same role for Belgium. There they use him to run the channel and on the flank, for a forward he has a very good cross. For the moment it seems like they don’t trust him with the ball they rather pass back then give it in the channel. Tuchel also uses him to much a targetman will a long ball. Try changing the wings : ziyech, Odoi and pulisic by not selecting them. Mount can be use as Kevin D and Kovacic as Tieleman and Loan Hazar from Real to play Hazard/Kai role. Then we can play without decent wb untill they comeback(Belgium don’t have decent wb).

I'm sorry but it's going to take more than one outlier in the international version of a pre season tournament (which they still lost) to win me round. The *United/PSG game would be a better example to use but one swallow doesn't make a summer.

He played against the same opponents in the biggest game of his career and had such a shocker not even Eden on his A game was not enough to drag them through.

*God it's just hit me, did that game contribute in Tuchel overestimating him?

drogba had lampard Ballack Mata and hazard to feed him….CONSISTENTLY
Diego costa had hazard Fabregas willian and Pedro to feed him….CONSISTENTLY
every striker needs 1 midfielder and one attacker to feed off….CONSISTENTLY
our attackers do not look to lukaku FIRST…he’s always the last or emergency pass which is not good
lukaku is not doing himself any favors either, he does not get involved in play even a little, he must
but the main problem is these attackers and midfielders do not have goal instinct so they make the wrong decisions….CONSISTENTLY

I don’t give a monkey’s what he does for Belgium. All I care about is that he delivers when he plays for Chelsea. And he’s not. Even worse is the apparent - and I say “apparent”, in case there’s something I’ve missed - lack of interest and lack of willingness in doing anything much other than looking elsewhere to put the blame for his own shortcomings.

May sound harsh, but I’ve had it up to here and back with massively overpaid, hugely overrated prima f**king donnas consistently failing to deliver the goods.

We don't have any consistency in our attack, Tuchel's main point at the start of the season before all the injuries was to rely on James and Chilwell and now that they have been missing it's evident that our attacking quality has fallen off, the backups are simply not as good and as an attacking unit our squad simply isn't consistent.

Pulisic is injury prone, Ziyech can have 1 great game and the very next one he'll waste 30 balls trying to make some epic passes, CHO is still young so by default he'll lack the consistency, Havertz has been semi sick semi injured nobody really knows what's up with him and it felt as if Werner missed 30 clear-cut chances in the past.

We focus on having high energy to press and recover the ball in order to keep the opponents from building a decent attack against us, that's all. We clearly don't focus on attacking nor on movement nor on finishing and I think that Tuchel actually doesn't even know what his best 11 is part from having Mendy on goal and the first choices of full-backs.

But all that doesn't really matter when you consider that a player like Salah for Klopp's tactic doesn't need a Mata or Fabregas in order to score 30 in a season, I actually think that the midfield of Liverpool is sh*t compared our our midfield in every department, they are just a bunch of runners part from T. Alcantara and he's made 1 assist so far in almost 2 seasons now. Yet Klopp manages to finish above us every season now...

Man City has De Bruyne that had over 30 assists in the previous 2 seasons but you can't possibly complain how we don't have a player like that because part from Man City nobody has a player like that...
