Also, they inherited one of the best football academies. It is not a model belonging to them, they are and have always been clueless.

Have to admit to being one who always thought Chalobah was okay but no more than that. But like others, once I saw just how bad Disasi and Badiashille were, there is no way Trev should have been the one chosen to go out on loan and it has no doubt cost us points up to now. He set a very high level with that performance last night and I don't expect him to be as good as that again, but on the basis of last night, he HAS to stay in the side, even if Colwill and Fofana were both fit. This is the thing I always thought the same that’s he’s okay, but his okay is levels above Disasi and Badiashille. Badi was good when he was first signed but after his first injury he was never the same. I gave Disasi the benefit of the doubt but he hasn’t really done anything apart from the one match against City where he was blocking everyone and everything that came his way. Whoever sanctioned these signings get docked wages.

But maybe his move to Palace has woken him up a bit. He was showing leadership, that i hadn't seen in him before. Disasi and Badiashille were top talents and all the clubs were scouting them. We were the "lucky" ones who got them. Neither of them were cheap. They are probably both very nice blokes. I liked the Disasi who dove into the crowd to celebrate goals - good attitude. Funny. BUT neither of them are what we currently need and we should move them both on as soon as we can.

He goes through periods where he looks really good and you want him in the first 11, he's done that for us a few times, then his form will suddenly drop and not recover again for a few months. This is why I have always wanted to keep him around. As he gets older and more experienced, there is always a chance his good form becomes a permanent thing, and even if it doesn't, we have a pretty much perfect squad player.

January 24, 20251 yr Brutally honest opinion, I don't think Trev is an elite CB. But I think he showed us he's the best amongst the pack last game, that for me is a BIG concern more than anything. Colwill has potential but he's still not elite yet, Fofana I still don't really see what others see and he's completely unreliable. Tosin is average, and let's just forget about Disasi and Badiashile. We are so weak in this area, top that off with a sh*te goalkeeper.

January 24, 20251 yr just really glad to have him back and about. Put in a top performance last time out, lets hope that continues. Not that we have a manager capable of making formation changes, Id have chalobah, James and colwill as my back 3.

But that's the problem isn't it? It goes to show how weak we are at the back. About 4 years ago Trev was our last picked CB, obviously he was still a 21 year old prospect at the time but now he's our best CB. That's down to him progressing as a player but also massively down to our other defenders being very poor. We've went from Rudiger, Silva, Azpi, Christensen to this, not to mention the elite-caliber of CB's we had before that.

We've spent over 300M on new defenders and Cucurella is the only one that can start for us, its unforgiveable. Chalobah should be our 4th choice CB in a serious team, instead we've wasted a small fortune and not managed to buy a single player better than him. Heads should roll within our recruitment team.

I'm not sure about that (no one covered themselves in glory today) but you just know this thread would be 3 pages deep already if literally any of our other CBs did what he did for the 3rd goal.

Cucurella the only one that can be slightly happy with his performance. Caicedo worked his arse off, Enzo i forgot was even on the pitch. Wingers were completely anonymous, can't remember a single thing they did and Jackson well.....
January 26, 20251 yr Still got a few days left in the window, maybe Palaces loss today might make them willingness offer us 15mill pure profit from Trev. We still have Disasi and Tosin as options.
April 26, 20251 yr Can’t believe I had to go through 4 pages to find this thread but probably our best defender atm, farce we let him go in summer because he couldn’t play Maresca’s system lol couldn’t ask for a better long term squad player. This is what Cobham can consistently produce, I don’t know why we waste so much of dross squad filler like Disasi and Badiashile.

Thats twice now Chalobah has shown the directors were wrong, and under 2 different managers now.And you can bet your f**king dollar we will try and get rid of him a 3rd time. He does have a few games where he struggles and makes avoidable mistakes, but then there are times where he goes on purple patches and becomes our best defender.

April 27, 20251 yr Trev/Josh being our RCB options going into next season (Fofana can play his customary 5 games before he’s out for the year) is genuinely solid. Give us Huijsen as a LCB, Reece as RB & Cucu as LB and we’re golden.
