I think most of us agree that Badiashille can stay injured for as long as he likes. When he plays and with Sanchez behind him, that's when the nightmares start.

Surprised he has not been investigated for irregular sports betting... How many times a defender can give away the ball during a single match.

So, we start the season with Wes Fofana and Hato, everything is great for a few games and Fofana picks up an injury, because he is an injury magnet.

Chalobah and Tosin are solid squad player - we like them. But super fast ball-playing CBs they are not.

Anselmino ? we know so little about him.

Badiashille is a French player who is not as good as he should be.

Hato could work - but he will need an experienced CB to play alongside. Will Enzo play our Captain as CB?

I just don't want us to make a desperate signing and get stuck with a CB we have overpaid for. If we can get Guehi, then do it, but I'm not even sure he wants us. I feel like he is waiting on Liverpool. I feel like it would end the career of one of Chalobah or Tosin next season too, and I'm a big fan of both. Personally, I would ditch Fofana, but some seem to think he is destined for greatness for some reason.

I think he's only waiting for Liverpool because the current alternative is staying at Palace, or going to Newcastle.

All of our successful sides had, at the very least, 3 good CBs. Tosin only has one use and that is when we need to play with a sweeper. I wouldn't' trust Fofana to tie his laces without getting an injury and I'll be damned if we go into a 3rd straight season relying on him again. There is Acheampong but it would be incredibly unfair to expect him to come straight in and perform consistently.

I feel for Maresca. Wanted Maignan to replace Sanchez and now Colwill, his #1, is out for the season.

Signing someone is really difficult as they won’t want to sit on the bench once Levi returns.

If I was the SD’s, I would be asking Maresca to bury the hatchet with Veiga and use him.

The reality though is that the recuperation will/should take most of the season so whoever comes in, if elite, will get a clear and fair run. We still have the same heavy schedule.

We're in the middle of the transfer window and Badiashile has again picked up a mysterious injury which will somehow keep him out until the window is closed and then into September.

Even if we did end up stacked in the position, Anselmino and Acheampong are still understudies learning and can continue to mix in bench performances with Dev squad matches. Disasi is a lost cause. Fofana made of biscuits. Veiga he is definitely not having, come hell or high water by the looks of it, and both Trev and Tosin are pure profit free hitters. If you brought in an elite player now, it won't be them or Colwill that would lose out when all are fit and well.

Can Hato seriously fill in or will we be relying on Badiashile? I just don't know so for me it's a risk to not sign a new left sided centre half.

Forget about Garnacho and sign Geuhi with 20% discount.

Use Hato too heavily too early and i am getting Jurrien Timber vibes. Last thing we need is him breaking as well, early on.

Lot of assumption there. Still two weeks to go yet.

Unlikely. Removed from club website.

The fact that at no stage has Veiga been a mentioned by anybody remotely interested in or linked to the club tells you all you need to know. All that Bayern bollox ended swiftly as well didn't it.

WE should throw this guy at Forest plus 30m cash for Murillo, imo

Big reason why I’d prefer Guehi is that he wouldn’t dislodge Colwill’s role in the future.

Noticed all those removals yesterday ... unbelievably brutal move (and completely un-necessary in my book).

Sadly we become more and more like an American Corporation ...

WE do. Veiga. But we are just waiting for the Decree Nisi to come through on that divorce

Money talks and it seems to me that nobody is willing to pay the value the club want. If the club want to act on the Colwill absence they have a number of options.

Buy Geuhi, bring in Veiga or go to the market elsewhere. I can't be ar*ed to check the market but if the club want to act it appears that Veiga is the cheapest option.

Maybe the divorce could be called off if he gets guarantees about minutes.

Or the Singapore company conducted its redundancy drive a number of years back by having a fire drill and then a number of the ID cards wouldn't work when trying to get back in the building,

Redundancies Singapore style

It has recently been reported on the internet that a Singapore based company made approximately 50% of its 5000 strong workforce redundant by simply evacuating the building using a fire drill.

There is no upside here, I'm afraid. I'm really sad after hearing this, as I consider him our best center-back by far, despite being only 22.
At this point, I just hope a full recovery.

Modern players push themselves to the limits athletically. ACL and similar injuries are not caused by aggressive tackles on the pitch and physical battles, but tend to occur when the ligament is pushed beyond its limit due to extreme acceleration (including sudden stops and changes of direction).

I don't have any numbers/stats to "prove" it, but it would make total sense to me if the type of injuries suffered by players over the last 30 years has shifted from breaks and impact injuries towards more muscular and ligament strains/tears.

I think this is pretty much the reason why. Footballers today are pushing the human body to it's limit. Physically, they're stronger and fitter than ever, but at the same time, the risks to muscle injuries are much greater. I'm not a big fan of modern day football training in all honesty. I feel like there is too much gym work involved and too much focus on turning them into athletes rather than pure footballers. I feel like this is another reason why the quality of football isn't what it used to be.

Breaking: Maresca wants a centre back to replace Colwill: “It’s a priority for me, yes”

Looks we’ll be spending the cash. Surely Veiga is good enough? He’s wanted by some top clubs. Madness.

I just only hope that they don’t end up selling Trev to help fund the new CB.

Bit of a message to the club about their recruitment of defenders isn't it?

Disasi And Veiga in the bomb squad, and he has Badiashile and Fofana but, clearly like us all, has not trust in their ability to stay fit.

So flog those 4 first then you can add. Otherwise we should have more than enough numbers to cover losing Levi.
