Let's see what kind of injury it is. If he is out for a month or two, then Hato is perfectly fine for that spot.

This is devastating news for the team and the defence in particular. Badiashile is next in line unless Hato can step up.

Hopefully it's not too serious.

No. Hato is 19 years old and has no PL experience. That's too risky. A good start in the new season is extremely important

We need a proven defender like Guehi.

Even with one injured, we don't need any more centre back signings unless one leaves as we have 7 other options already for 2 spots in the team ... Fofana is back in full training I think ?

Fofana will be injured by a change of wind. We cannot count on him in the slightest.

A good start is key to build upon the momentum from the CWC as the guys will surely have a burn out midseason due to no break.

I'm reading months out.

Not good to read, but staying positive that it’s nothing too serious.

Injury aside, I don’t think this changes the need for a top quality CB at Chelsea anyway. For now, start Trev and Tosin - they’re solid and earned the start.

I think the universe is presenting us an opportunity.

The Times are reporting Colwill will miss more than just the start of the season "If fears are confirmed." The undertones in Maresca's comments are also is worrying.

If we get Guehi, we have a experienced leader who would fit like a glove in our set up. This isn't even considering the chemistry he'll immediately build with Tosin, Colwill and Chalobah. This would then in turn push Badiashile/Fofana out the door. You'd expect the starting pair would be Guehi+Colwill in the future.

This is all so tiresome

I think Hato will surprise a lot of people.

The "it's a problem" is telling, I think. If it does turn out to be something serious. I could see us keeping hold of Veiga for another season.

Time to step up, Hato.

Is it serious , I didn’t know I was only up to him having a scan thinking maybe 2/3 games

I'd very wary of signing someone to cover for injury. Okay, he might be out for months, but when he's back we've got another player on a 7 year deal bloating up the squad.

Apparently there's fears over an ACL injury. Fingers crossed it's just a scare.
