Levi Colwill

Featured Replies

Remember when he whined and cried like a child three years ago already because the manager wouldn't automatically grant him a spot in the XI?

He's always been an entitled crybaby and now we unfortunately get to see it on the pitch week in week out. Never wanted to put his head down and fight properly like Mount, Gallagher, Chalobah and most other academy lads have done for this club.

He's also crap so lets get rid.

It might help Colwill if Maresca could settle on a defensive partner. He was decent enough playing alongside Fofana. But recently, Maresca has been messing about with centre back pairings. He’s tried several combinations of Colwill, Acheampong (remember him?), Tosin, and Chalobah. I’m not surprised our defence has looked all at sea.

Fofana is our best defender that’s why Colwill looked so good beside him.

In my opinion I have never seen the Colwil other than 1) he’s English and 2) he’s from Cobham.

He’s a good squad player but if he’s to be a starting CB in a championship winning team he’s got a long way to go.

Fofana is by far our best defender by a mile when he’s fit and it’s not even close.

We spent nearly 80m on a player who spends more time on the injury table than on the pitch, and happens to be our best CB. We are relying on a free transfer and two inexperienced CBs. If we had a good defence wouldn't be shipping so many goals at least, even if we weren't scoring many. Arsenal can get by because their defence is pretty strong, even if they are weakened in attack. You can scam a 1-0 win with a solid defence.

I'm actually sick of him, he's so flimsy it's painful, two games in a row he's cost us goals because he's pretended he's been fouled. Shame we don't have a senior defender to give him a kick up the arse.

Colwill this season is a symptom of the problem with this group. They are weak, both physically and mentally. They don't want to dig in deep fight for a win.

His comments earlier in the season where he said the team feels like they can beat anybody is looking really silly now. Colwill certainly doesn't give off the look of somebody that looks like he can beat anybody, if anything, the opposition look like they have the belief that they can beat us in every game. Players like Colwill have the ego of a winner, but it's all just words. On the pitch, he and everybody else look scared and/or disinterested.

Just don’t think he is good enough. Physically he plays like someone much smaller than his frame, positionally is casual, and on the ball isn’t all that.

The jog back after he didn’t get a freekick for Brightons third says it all about his desire right now. Badiashile might actually be better

Was nodding in agreement to all of that until the last bit. Colwill might have been poor and weak recently but come on, Badiashille is on a different level of sh*tness!!

And yet it was Badiashile who was playing all the games in our winning run at the end of last season ... while Colwill was watching from the bench 🙂

The Badiashile we first signed was better, as was the most recent version when he subbed on against Liverpool. During and from that game he seemed to play a bit angry, less passive. Hard to overlook the 18 months in between though!

All that to say, I don’t think any of our CBs are the long term quality we need. They are young though, but time to see some growth.

This tactics works when you have VVD in the team.. leaving our defenders 1v1 with Caicedo at times pressing high up is crazy.. with such an inexperienced defence and no quality upfront we need to play counter attack.. the press isn’t working can’t remember a single time when we have won the ball up top.

these modern managers are more bothered about the craft then the game.. all about philosophy and philosophy.. I think the right mix recognizes that the game is also about winning ..

Jackson often does it though not many others do.

I agree about changing things though think with what any formation having only one disciplined defensive midfielder is asking for trouble,

I'm hoping we see Palmer back on the right side to see if he can rediscover his form again,

I’ve never really rated Levi and lately Tosin seems a more secure option to me! Of course Tosin still has an error or two during games but he just seems a bit more reliable and sturdy at the back!

Agreed. I would go with Tosin on current form. He is also one of our more experienced players, and I can remember several games where he has made goal saving blocks. Colwill seems more inclined to back off in similar circumstances.

That run had a whole lot more to do with Thiago Silva playing rather than Badiashille.

Boy I wish we still had Silva - even at 40.

I heard both he , and neto, gave it the big one to our fans after scoring.

Well done you heros, you scored, and beat, Southampton, the worst PL side in a long, long time.

With gobsh*te behavior like that you may yet get play for Arsenal

Lay off the social media mate, it rots the brain.

Just watch the game. There's nothing that even remotely suggests they were mouthing off to the fans.

tbf i got the impression it was at the fans

At first, I got the impression that Neto was giving it to the fans, but then I thought that he was doing it to the Southampton fans as he was running alongside the Away part of the shed and when he reached the Chelsea East stand he put his arms up. But I'm not sure.

In any case, I don't care anymore as long as they keep scoring. I'm as detached from the team and club as they are from us.
