I hope this is true. We need more football people at the club to have consistency and structure.

Question 1. Will Roman actually allow a DM the authority to do the job properly?

Question 2. Does planes have the right judgement to make the role work?

Question 3. If so then why did Barcelona pay him off?

Sooner we promote Big Petr, as well as look as look talented individuals from our former players to fill roles.

Bit like that Dutch club does with people like Edwin Vander Sar and someone else who just left their director of football role. What was that Dutch clubs name...hmm...

I like the direction that Roman seems to be taking but an exec from Barca doesn't inspire confidence given that for the past 3-4 years Barca has been uninspiring

Not worth remembering, well done you @axman2526 :JC_doubleup:

Let's just get a new manager. This one is here for little over a year, and fuk all has he done for the club! Cluttering up the place, that's all.

Barcelona have been so bad at signings the last 5 years. I'd rather we steer clear and promote from within.

I understand that but the big signings at that time made sense. Dembele and Coutinho were top top players. But Barca heavily overpaid for them. We generally don't do that for anybody not named Lukaku and Kepa. They still have some serious young talent in Gavi and Pedri and there are other talented young players there.

I really think we need a sporting director to keep pulling in a common direction. If not him, then somebody else. But I am glad the club is atleast thinking about that role and seem to want consistency.

He only was at Barcelona from 18/19 and quit last November, so he is not responsible for the financial madness of that club. During his tenure there he brought Araujo and Pedri, and promoted Gavi. At other teams like Espanyol (07/08 to 08/09), he was responsible for the loan of Coutinho from Inter, and identified James Rodríguez but the club could not pay the amount asked for and he ended up going to Porto. I have read that he has got experience in successfully scouting the South American market. I am not completely against this, to be hones, we need a sporting director with experience, and scouting the South American market is a good idea too.

Agree! He also wasn’t responsible for negotiating the ridiculous wage increases,  the transfer fees & the transfer wages (sometimes 5x at prior club), that is all on Bartolomeu.

He won't be making any deals. That is still on Marina. He will in charge of identifying talent that suit the style of football we want to play.

In that case what's the point? We already have some transfer targets in mind, Kounde has been our transfer target.

Maybe Roman wants someone that can find another Azpi instead of paying the high price of Kounde or Rice, and Marina would be in charge of negotiations.

Fair enough then.

Also, target players who are suited to a particular style rather than just chopping and changing based on managers.

No one has commented on what may happen to Romans assets if Russia invade the Ukraine, this could have massive implications on funds, Bojo has already stated Uk and US, will stop Moscow and associates trading in £ and $s…?
