I pray for the day that this scummy club go bust. Drogba, you were bang on mate I would love nothing more than to see Barcelona fall, but I have come around to the idea of signing De Jong. He seems like a perfect replacement for Jorginho who I think will end up leaving at the end of the season. It would only be a temporary solution to Barcelona's issues, this wouldn't fix them long term.
August 7, 20223 yr he's a Jorginho type but with more stamina who can also be a bit of a box to box, and has a bit more pace i read some quotes from Laporta saying that they don't need to sell De Jong and want to keep him

I don't know if it fake news but I saw somewhere that they now don't need to sell him and can register their players without moving him on. I would take him as well, although he doesn't want to come here. For the money being quoted I would rather we rried to get Locatelli or someone like that and just walk away from this poisonous club. Barcelona are talking about all these financial levers, but they haven't paid for the signings they made so far this summer. De Jong's high wages are a big problem for them, and supposedly he has refused a pay cut. There are plenty of other players on big wages that they need to shift too. I think they are trying to sound confident, but if they don't sort this out by the end of August expect to see them in some major financial issues. I like the look of De Jong but I am wary about his high wages. By the look of things we just managed to offload Werner, and a big part of the issue with him was the ridiculous wages. Not sure we need to immediately bring on another at the same level.

August 7, 20223 yr Everyone’s been raving about his performance today… Who the f**k is he gonna pass the ball to at Chelsea? Sterling? Probably the only one who is any decent at being a direct forward? It ain’t gonna be The Lion or Mount, both of which are not forwards in any essence of the word; they have been forced in to a forward role based purely on the fact all our other attacking players have been sh*te. Yeh, sign De Jong, he will be amazing at passing the ball to the yards of air ahead of him when he gets on bored with our boring, monotonous, bland style of football.

Yes it made me laugh today when that oaf Martin Tyler was going on about what a cheap price City got Haaland for, of course neglecting the fact that they are paying him half a million a week. Lol

Lol and the roughly 90 million in agent fees also they didn't mention the amount they paid for Phillips just to give him a 2 minute cameo they go on and on and on about the 62 million full back Edited August 7, 20223 yr by azpi28
August 7, 20223 yr Just rejoice in Manyoo, getting turned over at OT, by Brighton, my weekend couldn't of been any better
August 8, 20223 yr TT was asked about signings after the Everton game. Basically said we would try, no for sure will happen and not really looking at a midfielder. I don't think we are in this De Jong race I think it is media talk.

Anywhere but United 😉

Apparently Chelsea is preferred from the two English clubs. I still don't fully understand why we would want to sign him..he is talented for sure but is he someone that could transform our game...? An upgrade to Jorginho would be a prime Fabregas. A player that truly can make a pin point pass. For me De Jong is not that. We don't actually need midfield motors, I think we need a player that can find our attackers with great passes.

The video above showed him at his best. midfield motor, power, acceleration and end product with a pass from the outside of his foot straight into the path of the attacker. This is just the type of player we are missing. In a similar scenario on Saturday Jorgi found himself running with the ball towards the centre circle at a snails pace, held onto the ball too long, the space in front disappeared and when the pass was eventually delivered the attacker was easily closed down. The wage though is astronomical, something would have to give to keep us within a reasonable wage structure.
August 8, 20223 yr I don't believe Barcelona will lose him while they're building a new team. They will find a solution to register all the players without cutting De Jong's wages and they will play regularly.

When we bought Havertz I recall folk saying that when you can get the best you should take them, and its true, and I think De Jong is one of the best midfielders on the planet, not as good as De Bruyne but as good as anyone else I can think of. All the deals from here on in are going to be hard. In this game of musical chairs there are fewer and fewer pieces left to fill the slots. Edited August 8, 20223 yr by ozboy
August 8, 20223 yr ManU already have their sights on Andre Rabiot. Seems like they are thinking De Jong is a bridge to far...

In the end Barcelona will get euro 517 m (net) less capital gains tax of cash they didn't have and will forego the revenue from those 25% of rights into perpetuity. The will continue to hold 25% of the asset which may increase in value but wont pay them a dividend. It is interesting.
August 8, 20223 yr Already have too much numbers in midfield, doubt we will pay 400K a week plus a huge fee to get him without some offloading. He's not keen to move even in a world cup year, so doubt we could tempt him.
