Raheem Sterling signs for Chelsea

Featured Replies

I think Sterling would be great for us

we have always played better with a fluid false 9 type of forward and he will definitely do a good job in that position

and he's proven in the top of the Premier League

if he's suppose to cost 50 million it would actually be great value, he turns 28 in december. He could have 5 years of his prime with us.

no brainer for me

Au contraire we have mostly played better with a full on striker with ability whether that’s Peter osgood ,  jimmy floyd h Didier, le sulk, or costa. People talk about a reference point but I think of the closer or if you prefer the point of the spear. The guy that can actually do the business is what makes the team tick.

i meant last season, of course i agree with those examples

couldn't Broja be that spear for us? I really rate him highly and would love to seem him get a run in the team. I don't really see a good striker available that we can realistically get for under 100 million.

I'd be up for it at the right price.

He has his wasteful moments but he does pop up with goals by timing his runs well.

Would probably need Dembele or an in-form CHO to feed him though.

Honestly, who decides these targets in recent years. Sterling for 50 or 60 million is madness. He is not much better than Pulisic and at 28 years old is another Lukaku disaster transfer.

I was hoping we move away from these sort of signings and revert back to when we signed prime young talent like de bruyne, salah, hazard, oscar, mata etc etc.

Instead of going for Nunez at 22 years old, or we could have had tchoumani last year we hesitate and try to squeeze the last penny same as we doing with Kounde now than end up loosing talent to someone else.

He`s head and shoulders better than Pulisic, on a completely different level to him.  If we can get him for less than £40m it would be an excellent signing.

Going for Nunez would be pointless. Liverpool have had him lined up for a while now, but there are other young talents we will hopefully identify as quickly as we did once upon a time with Oscar, KDB, Salah et al.

Not for me at all, any one would look good in that city side, and he's not guaranteed a start. f**king hell lukaku the c**t would look good playing in that side.

Another big mistake, too much baggage and a bad attitude. No, no ,no.

One had a hot 6 months during 'covid football' and the other was a big contributor to 4 recent league titles. Personally, I think they're neck and neck.

The only one guaranteed a start in City's forward line is Bernardo Silva. Everyone else rotates and Sterling has played as much as any of them. And they would all walk into our attack. He's played more than Mahrez, who most armchair fan coaches would take in a heartbeat.

Are we really going to sign yet another very wasteful forward? Don't let his City stats fool you. He is as wasteful as any of our forwards, and I don't see the point of signing him. He only scores respectable numbers at City because they create so many chances each game, a luxury he will not have here. His shooting technique is very poor and I hope we stay away.

It's his positioning, it's the one thing I think he is world class at. He takes up the poachers position and that is how he gets the majority of his goals.

Well, however you want to spin it.. I’d like to see us use a bit of imagination in the market.

Most of our ‘big name’ signings fail, Sterling relies on his explosive pace for those dribbles to pay off and getting to the far post, Nearing 30, loses the ball too much in Pep’s system to justify the current £300k pw he’s getting and not versatile enough for him, so they want him gone.

Sterling also publicly taunted Chelsea fans over the 6-0 win, hates us and doesn’t get along with any of the Chelsea lads in the England camp.

He turns 28 in half a year's time. Turns 30 in 2 years and a half time. Age is defo not issue for him, especially considering his injury record is very good too. That is least of our problem if we sign him.

Timo Werner is world class positioning too, it doesn't help him very much.

I hate how people always exaggerate the age of a player when saying he is too old.

I expect he was hoping for one of the big boys to come in for him like Real Madrid and City buying Grealish was the final motivation to find another decent if not top tier club. With us being in London and closest to the top tier gives us an advantage.

One of the worst posts I've ever read.

Sterling was better at 18 than Pulisic has ever shown the potential to be.

Sterling is a proven goal scorer at the top level, an elite dribbler and has great movement and positioning.

Pulisic is playing in the Premier league solely because of his nationality and would be on the bench at Mainz now after joining them for 5m if he was German considering how badly he flopped at Dortmund.

I understand people not wanting Sterling (personally I'd love to sign him) but trying to pretend he's not far better than Pulisic is hilarious.

Sterling has had seasons where he's had nearly as many goals contributions as  Pulisic has career goals.
