I don't like how slow we are to wrap up these deals though, when we're linked with a vast number of players in multiple positions. Tuchel got us top 4 in his first half season when he took over us in 9th (before anyone says it i don't care if we needed a favour from Spurs, it was thanks to him we got into a position to be able to rely on one) and got it reasonably comfortably in season 2 despite pretty much everything you can imagine going against us. Not worried for top 4 in the slightest. Also for all this w**king off of Spurs and Arsenal's transfer would you want their signings over our returning loanee's let alone who we may or may not sign? Imagine the outrage if we sold or even loaned Colwill and Broja to accommodate Lenglet and Richarlison. City and Liverpool i accept it maybe (another) season too soon, although i think they have weakened their system signing out and out 9's.

I probably have more of bond towards him due to also having Jamaican family and being brought up within the same area, but for me he defo isn't a man with a huge ego. He doesn't kick up a fuss or look for attention of media. Also he regularly provides assists as well as being a goal threat. I wouldn't say he is selfish at all. He gets so much abuse from fans since moving from the media darlings to Man City which has caused him to be labelled unfair names, when in reality he proved everyone wrong by going on to win several trophies and become a better player. Other than that his attitude has been first class. Always plays and when benched for Grealish, he didn't wine and continued to work hard to regain his place in the team. I think if people realised his story, they would realise how tough of upbringing he had to make it where he is now. Edited July 6, 20224 yr by STATS

I mean he does his best to win his team a penalty. I would not say there has been any obvious ones where he has completely conned the ref and done something out of order. And tbh, most times he is fouled anyway so sometimes players when they get repeatedly fouled will go down easily. I wouldn't say he does anything different to what other players do.

Hmm, OK I see we disagree on that no problem. On the playing side of things my biggest concern is if his pace goes he becomes a highly paid asset that won't contribute much and we cannot shift.

I would be more concerned though if he had regular injures and then I would be thinking if he is constantly injured then he may lose some of his pace, however he is rarely ever injured and while he plays a high amount of football, I don't see his pace going. Especially with the science and conditioning in football these days, he will be well looked after I am sure.
July 6, 20224 yr I think Sterling will contribute to both assists and goals, whether it be winning penalties, crosses or scoring crucial goals - there was a period when the national team relied on him in the absence of goals from Kane. I would welcome him although too high a weekly wage might cause a problem with others in the squad and hence a bigger bill for Boehly and Co. - I personally dont think he is worth a pay rise, but hey ho. Almost certainly his performance will tail off towards the end of his contract but he does want to join us ( not all the targets out there appears to) and he did leave the dippers🙂
July 6, 20224 yr I have to say I am quite excited about this transfer. I think he is an immediate upgrade on any of our wide forwards, and he is not afraid to take defenders on and get the ball into the box. I don't think he turns us into title contenders on his own but with 2-3 more solid signings there is potential for that to happen. I think signing Sterling is a big step towards going 4 at the back and playing with more traditional wingers. I know his wages are an issue for some on here but for me, that's not entirely his fault - City obviously valued him at that for his last contract, and as I said in a previous post that when Chelsea dish out big contracts to duds like Bakayoko and Drinkwater, then the actual 'quality' players that come here will expect to receive big wages. Overall I am happy with this transfer and really believe it could give us a new dimension to our attack.

He`s comfortably better in every way than the players we have in our attack currently, he would a directness and ability to get behind defences we havent had since Pedro. In fact I would compare him directly to Pedro. His stats (which I know dont tell the full story) are way above every other attacker in our squad.

In what way is he overpriced? 45m for a world class premier league proven player in his prime who's scored over 100 PL goals in our weakest position. We paid more for Pulisic who couldn't buy a goal or even get a game in a weaker league. Sterling is the most exciting signing we've made in a long time and a big upgrade for us. I am not averse to us signing him. Fck me I'd take Chris Sutton back right now but what i would say about Sterling is that i don't see much effort in winning the ball back and working for the team. If the ball is a yard or more away from him job done. I find him similar to Fernandes at man Utd. If you can get the ball two yards past them they just give up.

July 6, 20224 yr There is clearly something wrong with him. Why doesn't he want to join Barcelona at the last minute. Perhapos we should abort.

Sterling's best attribute is his movement and my worry is that we will see the absolute worst parts of his game in a Chelsea shirt because we don't have players in the squad to pick him out. We will simply have to change up our game, because if we don't, then Sterling will be another Werner. One thing I am shocked by though is why City would prefer Grealish over him.

We've needed one since Cesc left.. Eriksen would of been a shout, I think we've got an £80m player for £55m so its a decent deal and better than Raph or Richarlison and Cheaper initially We now need to address the defence and mid, If we can ship a couple out and or find another forward while we do, Great. Fingers crossed it doesn't end up like the Willian saga all the jazz no goals Edited July 6, 20224 yr by Kantesmini
