It will be all roses until he gets hacked out up at a wet grim Nottingham forest and is out for 6 months! I can see it now, However half the best players around are absolute lightweights, I expect his penalty's to be a main contributor The absolute rage from Liverpool and man city fans when Stirling gets pens against them would be a moment Just whack sterling on at 60 mins for dive bomb runs into the area looking for the tiniest touch possible for an instant penalty return! I like TT's master plan.... Edited June 29, 20224 yr by Kantesmini

June 29, 20224 yr It's fair to point to him asking for more money in order for him to sign a contract extension at City, but to overlook the fact he wants more game time or to be a starter for most of the season is relevant information to his departure. At 27 he's in his prime and he knows there's no better time for him to be starting at a top club week in week out. Say what you want about Pep I think he's an amazing manager, but it's no coincidence Sane, Sterling, B. Silva, Torres and Jesus have all expressed a desire to leave. To create a winning machine he can't rely on specific players no matter how talented they are bar D. Silva and KDB, and even then he still won the league the season KDB got sidelined and who was the main man then? Raheem Sterling. All of the aforementioned players want regular minutes they want to be the guy at their club and Pep can't promise that. I think it's unfair to attribute it purely to chasing money. For a player with such a good record in this league and for country you would think there would be more optimism, I can't help but wonder, were he a different nationality would there be more buzz? Edit: Also the fact that Tuchel wants him surely must account for something? It's being reported now Lukaku was not his choice whereas Todd is now only giving him players Tuchel explicitly wants unequivocally. Edited June 29, 20224 yr by LongtimerLurker
June 29, 20224 yr Author Hmm interesting, apparently his preference in the rumour mill is Spurs. Teaming with Kane and Son and he likes Conte as a manager. Plus he is a North London boy.

Sky used to be really good for transfer news but they’ve dropped off massively with the emergence of social media and journalists being able to break news immediately. Would take anything like that with a pinch of salt. Add to that that Sky always want to try and undermine Chelsea at any opportunity! They’re tap in merchants when it comes to transfer news these days!

I mostly use them as a confirmation source a bit like the bbc as they have to at least properly check things are true and even they're often crap and to be fair loads of social media twazzaks are consistently wrong, We should make a sources tier list most reliable up top to the most pants fake journos/agents/frauds at the bottom s tier journos a+,a,b,c,d,avoid etc Someone who doesn't know reddit was bought out by a dodgy group years ago and still reddits, Get busy! https://tiermaker.com/ Edited June 29, 20224 yr by Kantesmini
June 29, 20224 yr Gradually ive come around to signing sterling as long as he is one of 2 attackers that come in. Very frustrating player, but he takes responsibility in attack, and will score goals and contribute. As long as the fee is reasonable, he could be a smart signing.
June 30, 20224 yr Seen a few people talking about Sterling yesterday being all but done and now Simon is reporting. Looks like he will come guys, I'm predicting a deal of £35-40m with add ons taking it to max £50m which wouldn't be that bad imo. The only hold up we would assume is CFC looking to acquire more players from city at the same time. A fee hasn't been agreed for Ake yet, apparently we want to play around the £30m area and City would want £50m since they don't want to sell or need to sell.

I wouldn't want Ake included as a freebie with Sterling. Wouldn't take Ake on a free. His entire career was him being a mainstay in a defence that set records for goals conceded and got relegated then being last choice CB at City and only playing games at home vs relegation fodder when Pep was resting his actual decent centre backs ahead of midweek games. Games City would have 80-85% possession and Ake would have barely any defending to do. If we're relying on him to be a mainstay in our defence across 38 games we'll concede goal after goal. He's the Sarr of Manchester City. Edited June 30, 20224 yr by HazardousChoice
June 30, 20224 yr This is a smart move for a good player. PL proven and very consistent for City. And decent money. I know defence should be the priority, but I am glad Tuchel is thinking of adding speedy, explosive wingers on both sides of the pitch that can also dribble. PL is a fast paced league, can't win it, or at least try to, with slow wingers, or attacking midfielders playing on the wing, for example Mount, or even strikers (Werner). Or some that take too much on the ball and can't score and overall are average (Pulisic).
June 30, 20224 yr Author With nothing signed yet there is still time for someone elsento hijack this deal and save us from the huge financial black hole this deal would be.
July 1, 20224 yr Author I wonder if Raheem is having second thoughts on this move? I mean he is seeing us fail to convince on average Brazilian, who almost got relegated at a rubbish Leeds side, to join is despite us having one of the all time great Brazilian players in our ranks. He has also seen us turn our attention to Nathan Ake, a defender he knows is average at best and poor at worst. And it's been what a week since we agree terms City for him? July 1, 20224 yr Sterling yes Ake a huge no. Why sign a bench player who rarely plays and when he did consistently he was part of a laughable goals against record.
July 1, 20224 yr At the moment we need to sign somebody at CB, maybe Ake is a backup option (I hope last resort). In hindsight we should of kept Tomori, but I guess we still need another centre back too so lets hope we seal de Ligt's transfer.

Wouldnt bother me if we only signed 1, maybe 2 players, hopefully a CB and a forward. There's not a lot about at the moment and we are behind the other clubs due to the sale, but rather than just take players because we can I`d much rather we wait for the players we want. Klopp and Liverpool are acclaimed for doing this with Van Dyke etc, build progressively rather than swamp an already overloaded, unbalanced mess of a squad with yet more players who we will be stuck with if Tuchel goes and the next manager has to try and fit them in so they dont get upset, and we cant sell them. Use the returning loan players, bring in 2 or 3 at most, accept next season for what it is, build towards challenging in 2 or 3 seasons. Obviously this will upset a huge part of our fanbase, especially the twatter f**kwits. But frankly, f**k them, it might turn into a lovely cull where we get shot of the dickheads....or at least some of them.
