I would say Broja and Gallagher have gotten a few more opportunities too with Potter. Its not enough though, we need Mount, Havertz, Sterling, our game changers to pick up form and only way to do that is to play them to their strengths.
November 7, 20223 yr Chalobah struggled last season against Salah and Murphy and struggled badly. Next up is Murphy when we play Newcastle.
November 7, 20223 yr Author Ah RLC and Jorgi, Sterling, Havertz and Auba. Is like going back in time and having a Chelsea side contain Jokanovic and Minerio, Ambrosetti, Pato and Sutton.

It doesn't help that Potter played him as WB. It doesn't help that we look disorganised as a team and we have no plan or style of play. It doesn't help that we have some very poor players around him. Before Potter took over he was our best player. It sad to see but i cant think of a single player that is playing better now with Potter than when we had Tuchel so his form is not all on him. I have to disagree with you on this post, I see it contrary. We signed him to be our main man in offense, this is definitely what the wages we pay him indicate, so with that comes a natural expectation that he performs to a certain standard, which in the majority of matches he doesn't do. He just seems to be coasting through matches, he isn't the only one, but he is the topearner of the squad and the player with the most playing time for us so far this season and he is offering very little on the pitch, but somehow you have the opinion that he is unfairly critized for his noshows, are you his agent or something? Based on the sample size of his performances until now, everyone should agree that the club made a massive misjudgement with signing him and putting him on a 17m annually contract for 5 years. Just 4 months into his contract and the club has to make plans about finding a way to shift him already and the worst thing about it is that it was predictable that this would happen. Like somebody else already said 'He is just this seasons Lukaku.'

Aubameyang even said Arteta prefers working with younger players because they don’t ask questions. We are stuck with him for the next 5 seasons because no club inside the PL will touch those wages, and European clubs think English players are overrated. Good points
November 7, 20223 yr I knew from the first rumour of it that this would be a bad signing. More money spaffed on an expensive formerly ok player.

Like somebody else already said 'He is just this seasons Lukaku.' I totally understand what you are saying and ofcourse he should be a leader, example with his vast experience for others too. However, i was reading this morning that he played 6 different positions since he's joined us. Also, having loftus cheek instead of de bruyne makes a massive difference too. I am not his agent or anything lol. If you go back i was completely against signing him in the first place as i didn't see much improvement to what we already had and was ridiculed for that statement. Hindsight is a great thing, i wanted us to go for younger players like Nunez for instance but since we bought sterling lets give him the best possible chance to succeed and playing at wingback doesn't help anyone so i refuse to judge him now until we have a coherent and organised system in place.
November 8, 20223 yr Seems like another waste of money to improve our attack. How much money is that now on attacking players? Sterling - £47m Lukaku - £97m Havertz - £71m Ziyech - £33m Werner - £45m Pulisic - £58m Have any of these players even improved us? It's not my money, but as a fan it gets frustrating that we keep buying these players who are supposed to improve our attack, yet we are no better than we were back when Conte was here. My hope with Potter and the new board, is that they can identify and bring in talent at lower cost. Trossard and Toney would be two targets. Maybe Leao too. Get rid of the other sh*t we have. Kova's dribbling can open up the middle if he has cover, yet he has been injured. Down the left we struggle to get crosses over and as most of our attackers are right footed they have to control before shooting which gives the defence time. You'd think with James out, that playing a right winger at right wing might help out with those pesky crosses from the right 🙂 If Ziyech leaves a bad taste in the mouth, and I can understand that, then what have we got to lose by trying Omari Hutchinson at right wing ? One of them though for sure ...

One of them though for sure ... Ziyech is interesting as he crosses from the right on his left and rarely near the byline. That is a harder cross to pull-off as normally opposition players will try and intercept and if an in-swinger are difficult to convert and think most of his crosses are in-swingers as opposed to outswingers.

Think people might be getting carried away by Trossard here, has a Rudiger/Willian playing for a final big contract vibe to him. He has 25 goals & 13 assists in 95 starts in the PL, that is a contribution in approx 3 games. This is by far his best season in the league; we have been down that road with Willian before, ended up at Arsenal & Arteta couldn’t get rid of him soon enough. Another aspect is we have gotten our pants pulled down by Potter (6x previous salary), Cucurella (3.6x prior), Trossard on a free transfer will demand a big signing on fee & at least 4x his £42k/wk salary. Now ask yourself if he is a £170k/w player. At those wages he will be earning more than Diaz & Jota.

Ivan Toney has proven himself at Brentford and before that in the championship where he scored 33 goals in 48 apps . Meanwhile Pulisic has scored 11 goals in the last 3 seasons. Ziyech has scored 6 goals in 50 apps. Havertz has 15 goals in 68 apps. We spent about £160-170m on those 3 players and they have a poorer return than both Toney and Trossard put together in midtable quality teams.

November 8, 20223 yr Let's focus on improving the creativity and strength of the midfield and see how the attacking players fare. Sterling started well under Tuchel, and then he's been played a lot as WB by Potter. I just can't believe that every single player that we buy is sh*t up front. The way we play and the (dis)service they get from the midfield has to play a part in the amount of players that become crap at Chelsea. I don't think that Salah or Haaland would do much better with our present midfield, to be honest.
November 10, 20223 yr Also really needs a run at LW when he is cutting inside. Last 2 games where he started under Potter he has played at RW (Salzburg and Arsenal). He is best when running directly at the opposition onto his strongest foot. RW he is much more predictable. I hope that is where he plays against Newcastle.
November 17, 20223 yr Have to be wondering what's going on in Raheem's head right now. He was at Manchester City, playing in what is his best position (high wide winger), winning trophies and now he's at Chelsea, with worse team mates, being shunted all over the place and not really clear what his role is.

To be fair he started really well for us, during the first few matches or so he was looking like our best attacking player. Maybe the World Cup break from PL football will do him good.

This is the problem I bet he was never told he would be playing at LWB before signing now he finds himself all over the shop. I don’t care what your personal feelings is but he’s not a LWB he’s works in a very specific position to extract the best out of him. Pep understood that and used him as such without fail and it delivered the big numbers. Also he probably expected better service.
November 17, 20223 yr regardless of where he's being played (and it has been all over the place), one thing that worries me about Sterling is his complete lack of ability passing players in a one v one situation. He tries to run at defenders, and unless it's from wide where he's cutting in to shoot with his right foot, he inevitably loses the ball and posession.
