June 23, 20224 yr Pi$$Ed off with the lack of quality in sky reporting of us. Clearly they have nobody on the inside and are just guessing. Chelsea want to sign Sterling. No communications between the clubs and Chelsea have not contacted the player. No Chelsea interested in signing de Ligt. Breaking news, whatever.
June 23, 20224 yr It feels like we are being linked to everyone and their mother. I too think a lot of the rumours are guesswork at the moment, I'm only going to believe it until Matt Law and/or Fabrizio Romano confirm.

Even if the amounts reported are true are we going to blow half to two thirds of our supposed 200mill warchest of De Ligt and Kounde?

June 24, 20224 yr De Ligt had amazing potential at Ajax and I wanted him back then before he joined Juve. Maybe it was best for him to go to Juve first so his game could mature. He's still got a lot of work to do on his game, but what CB doesn't at the age of 22? Last season was his best at Juve so far which shows he is getting there. I would love to have him here.
June 24, 20224 yr The biggest problem to De Ligt coming to Chelsea is his wages. At Juve he is widely reported to be on 280k per week, and that being in a league that generates less revenue. He would likely expect an increase to come here, which would set him on Lukaku esc money if not more... Man United seem far more willing to pay such wages and transfer fee, hence Harry McGuire.

June 24, 20224 yr He is one of the signings that we absolutely need. Young, experienced, strong DC who has experience playing in a back 3 (although I'm hoping that we go to 4 in the back). Milan Skriniar and Kalidou Koulibaly are both high on my list as well. Edited June 24, 20224 yr by Greys33
June 24, 20224 yr DeLigt is a bit of a gamble. He is a good defender but untested in the Prem. If he speaks Portuguese I would trust Silva to guide him towards quality. He is not even the best centerback in Juventus. Probably not even second best. Maybe now when Chiellini is gone.

Silva probably speaks Italian from his time at AC Milan so I don't think language barrier would be an issue. Not sure of Silva's English but De Ligt's is fine.
June 24, 20224 yr I liked him at Ajax, I haven’t really followed him at Juventus so I don’t know really how he’s doing now enough to analyse and give an opinion on him properly. It being a big chunk of our budget is something I am concerned about though, unless Tuchel is 100% sure about him. I’m more concerned about our attacking options if I’m honest. Dominating but only drawing at home to Burnley was criminal, and it happened a good few times last season. At the right price it could work but if it’s anywhere near £100 million then it’s a major risk considering he’d be coming from a different league. Edited June 24, 20224 yr by 2211

June 24, 20224 yr I mean if affordable De Ligt and Kounde either side of Silva with our two main wingbacks could be amazing. Reports before today said Juve want close to the release clause and 90mill would get it done, whereas Sevilla want about 53mill for Kounde. Do we blow three quarters of a budget on 2 CBs?
