Good speech until he started simping for Maresca. Not surprising as its the only manager that would be willing to build the entire attack around him to cover his deficiencies.

He point was about winning things and Maresca is the only one who did that.

Yeah, the Conference League which no other CFC manager could have won before because we were never in it before and we were odd-on favourites to win. And then winning the CWC thanks to Cole Palmer.

Other than pining for Maresca I actually applaud him for speaking out and agree with what he said.

Completely different to the Enzo interview and attitude and much more in line with how the majority of us fans feel currently.

This will be a pivotal summer I feel for the immediate future of the club.

Eat humble pie and take recruitment seriously this summer and we could be even challenging for trophies again , but fail to admit their mistakes and continue with only buying young players who may or may not come good but have a resale value then this could really be the beginning of current players really wondering what the end game is here at Chelsea and start seriously thinking about their futures.

Huge transfer window coming ahead - we are at a crossroads now.

Big fan of this, one of our most senior players speaking out against the ownership model. Hopefully it gives the others the confidence to do it as well so we can finally start seeing a change.

Should have been how Reece James poke rather than our captain and Cobham lad shilling out to BlueCo

"When a manager gives you that confidence and offers you a platform to fight for titles, you’d die for him."

The conference league shouldn't be celebrated and the CWC was clearly PSG underestimating us in a pre season tournament after us getting embarrassed against Flamengo to get us an easy run to the final. We were heading out of the CL after failing to beat Qarabag.

While we had issues under Maresca, we were not heading out of the Champions league. We would have gone into the playoffs most likely. It was one thing to part ways with Maresca mid-season but a big risk to then bring in such an inexperienced management team as a replacement. Its not just Rosenior, but his entire management team has very little experience. I think if we had at least installed somebody like Steve Holland as an assistant we would have seen better results.

It is not about admitting mistake. It comes down to how do you want to run the club.

If the goal is all about 🤑🤑🤑, then nothing will change.

The main, unspoken, issue now though is that it is too late to act, even if they wanted to change approach. They have no money and they have put themselves into a sell to buy situation both financially and under the rules of the authorities.

It is continually debated on here, on social media and on TV, who should form the nucleus of the team and who should be sold, with little thought as to how these players will be sold. Regardless of media briefs and gaslighting they have found it extremely difficult to move any players on, let alone make enough profit to allow them to trade in the market for better quality players. I think that there remains a general lack of appreciation of how tiny the actual 'permanent' transfer market really is.

There are many still thinking in competitive football terms. Nobody in the hierarchy gives a fig about the football other than the financial rewards achievable. Reducing costs and maximising resale value of the liquid assets whilst your fixed assets naturally appreciate over time is the only hymn sheet this mob are singing from. Do this and wait around for the environment to change to allow for individual bargaining rights on commercial activities and that's their payday.

All this football and player guff is a sideshow hobby whilst the strategy remains the same. Nothing has changed nor will it.

Agree.

The thing is many fans still believe that our board doesn't understand football and our SD is stupid.

I don't think they are. They know that signings kids won't lead to winning unless you hit jackpot after jackpot which is unlikely. But as you say, they don't care, this is not their goal.

But they are stupid, objectively speaking.

None of the club's whose model they admire (Brighton, Dortmund, A**x, Benfica, Porto or Sporting) are profitable unless they also qualify for the Champions League or have a bumper year of player sales - and even the latter has only been ironically because BlueCo have overpaid for its targets to these same clubs.

In other words, the model doesn't work. It also doesn't work for profit or value gain, because both of those require actual success to take advantage of commercial sponsorship.

If they're not stupid and their objective was to make money they would have signed a FOS sponsor 3 years ago or directly after the CWC win.

This. They are just incompetent. The key to financial success in football is success on the pitch. There's no way they are going to make more money by buying and reselling youngsters than a team that's challenging for the title and Champions League every season.

Cucurella is definitely a marmite player. Some love him and some hate him (and ALL opposing supporters hate him and love to boo him).

He has been decent for us at times. Has kept a lot of good wide players very quiet. But he's had some bad games and I hate the play acting anytime he goes down. Embarrassing.

I'm okay with it if he stays, but equally wouldn't mind if he goes and we get a good fee for him.

I really like him as a man, good that he is speaking out, Sadly, we've had much better left backs than him over the years, this guy isnt any better or worse than Scot Minto... (just wanted to say his name, Cucu is a much better player) Pushed Lewis Hall out the club who was and is a better player. Anyhow, needs to find a bigger club to show his talent. Wasnt bothered when he arrived and not bothered if he leaves.

You know, it is perfectly okay for players to like managers they've worked with, even if the fans don't. Some of the vitriol at him just because he liked Maresca is a bit much. You work with people for over a year, you'll probably form a connection. It's natural to be disappointed when they suddenly go without warning. Happens all the time in football.

I like Cucu as a player - at least some of what he offers. But the twat pining for Maresca, who was a useless, risk averse manager, who had us playing super boring, unprogressive football, which was slow and predictable - is utter nonsense.

We should not confuse the matter.... the board sacking maresca was the correct decision based on how we played on the pitch. Just because they followed that up by bringing in Rosenior - who in my opinion is also having us play the same super boring, unprogressive football, which is slow and predictable, and which as a result is a bad error in judgement, doesnt make their decision to sack fraudesca wrong.

We were sh*t with Poch - it was the right decision to sack him after he failed to change the slow way we played, despite having had a whole season to do so.

We were sh*t under maresca - it was the right decision to sack him after he also failed to change the slow way we played.

We should also sack Rosenior - if between now and the end of the seasonm it looks like he refuses to change the slow way we play.

I bring this back to Emery at villa. He came in, and immedietly there were signs of progress. A clear new style to how the team tried to play. Doesnt always need to work. I am ok with short term pain, but I do want to see progress and intent to change.... which nobody is doing. The only one who showed glimmers was Potter towards the end, but overall, he also failed to deliver enough evidence that there was a clear change to the slow style (although he admitedly had less time than poch or fraudesca.

Cucurella has done well for us at times.

I'm not a fan of LBs cutting inside yet he has got some decent and vital goals for us.

It will be interesting to see if his comments have any effect on the owners.
