IMO Cucurella isn't a good defender. But those of you who think he is, knock yourself out. I fear it will come back and bite you on your arse soon enough.

And he may well be on the winning team on Sunday. It doesn't mean a thing. He will still continue to be regularly mullered at the back post.

He's not a player we should be getting rid unless a lucrative offer comes. Remaining book value is under £40m so if we are able to get a profit on him than sayonara. 

That being said, I am not opposed to keeping him. Think our entire back line will benefit in Maresca's system bar Chilwell.

This is why I f**king hate the profit rules as they are currently constructed.

Don't get me wrong, something was needed to stop football continuing to become a billionaires toy (fully accepting we were one of the first) but a system which requires fans to have a graduate degree in finance when thinking about possible transfers is killing whatever fun is left in the game after VAR.

I work in finance and PSR bores the tits off me so god knows what its like for anyone with sod all interest/knowledge of finance.

I don't work in finance, I fkn hate finance, I have an accountant and just talking to him annoys me. I have an investment manager and half the time I haven't got a clue what he's saying and it pisses me off, even though he's making me money.

I don't understand all this rubbish and even Ratcliffe said there are more accounts at man u than football staff. I'm guessing it's the same at most clubs. It does my head in.

As someone in finance you must be able to see what a half arsed bag of knackers the rules are, its poorly thought out and easily circumnavigated by the clubs. All its doing is turning clubs into trading companies.

Yes, it's a doddle. And it just means it will  get changed umpteen times like a legoland approach.

And each time the clubs will easily find a way round it. Absolute shambles.

It keeps the valuations high for the clubs, without FFP; Clearlake would not have spent 2.5 billion on Chelsea, they would have bought Bournemouth for much less, and then spent a billion on players.

Nope, never seen it. I even refuse to watch the "wall street" movies, old and new. It's not just the numbers side, it's the ppl too.

I know if I walk into my bank there would be violence. I even try to stick to emails more than phones. I don't know why but I just can't stand finance ppl at all.

The big short and Margin call are movies you'd probably love becuase they bet against the banks. Really good movies worth watching tbf...

Cucu was magnificent tonight. One trademark rush of blood to the head but he’s probably been the best left back in the tournament.

If Maresca was unsure about him before the tournament began then he’s definitely less so now.

Southgate is one of the worst managers I’ve ever seen. He’d last about 3 months in the Premier League.

The difference with Spain is they have Williams who makes sure Cucu doesn’t get doubled up on. Mudryk and Sterling don’t do that.

Saw the good and bad of cucurella tonight, he was mostly solid (with the help of Williams) and got a great assist for the winner, but in the lead up to Palmer's goal he did that thing where he rushed in to win a tackle he was never going to win and was massively out of position, leaving Saka totally open

Cucurella is on his way to some sort of cult player status. Hopefully for Chelsea as well. I am sorry but I don't see him being truly a top left back despite what we just witnessed this past month. 

Brazil '70. Widely regarded as the greatest football team the World has ever seen. They had a goal-keeper called Felix only he wasn't exactly a cat. In fact he would struggle to hold a party. And that was on a good day. But it really didn't matter. All the players around him were so brilliant. Congratulations to Cucurella on winning the Euros as part of the best team by far in the tournament.

Our search for a top quality left back to play for Chelsea continues.

Happy for him. Been fairly consistent in 2024 and will come back to preseason on a high. He’s deserved this given the amount of criticism he’s received. 
 

I do wonder if the club still intend on selling. Spain have showed how to make good use of him whilst hiding his flaws. 

Losing a major tournament final to a piece of first-time genius from Cucurella after an underhit pass must rank in the English humiliation hall of fame alongside losing to Iceland and electing Boris Johnson as PM.

That's a load of rubbish though. Nico Williams spent most of the second half on the right wing doubling up because Yamal couldn't get past Shaw. It meant Cucu taking the entire left side.
