September 4, 20223 yr Auba looked on happy when we scored today. I did not want to sign him. I honestly think he was a bad move. . . .but I have a feeling he is going to do well for us. Time will tell.

We need to score more goals from corners. you get 10 corners you should have a goal to show from it. We conceded a goal from a corner today. This is something that can be worked on in training. Also, we need to get more free-kicks on the edge of the box. AND who is our dead ball and free kick specialist? And Why doesnt James take corners? We don't have one single player capable of taking a good corner. Every delivery is either bad or plain awful. Even Reece. Now Marcos is gone nobody can take a decent free kick either. Is why myself, @Valerie and @Munkworth have been campaigning so passionately for us to sign James Ward-Prowse...

We had about 10 corners in the first half at Everton. James took quite a few. All of them came to nothing (well, some of them led to another poorly-taken corner). We are absymal at set-pieces, whether we are attacking or defending. Our attacking set-pieces seem more likely to produce goals for the opposition than for us.
September 4, 20223 yr Missed the game today but read through the match chat....oh dear not a lot of happy campers given yet another shocking sleepy performance, but glad to see that Munkworth's cat showed up which is more I can about our 'strikers' . Sounds like TT has his work cut out trying to figure out that playing 8 defensive minded players doesn't get you goals. When I saw the team sheet, it had disaster written all over it and it seems may well had been so had it not been for VAR. Well next weeks early kick off against Fulham following a midweek CL game should push TT closer to the door I reckon as I will be surprised if we get anything from a decent Fulham side, although Todd and co don't seem like they would be as so ruthless as Roman, unless he's got some one lined up but given who's out there I don't see him making a move before the WC unless we are languishing in the bottom half.

I think this could be a catalyst for a better performance next week.. but we need more attackers .. we ended with Broja mount havertz and sterling on the pitch .. we need these 4 .. with Auba and pulisic and Ziyech around not too bad.. so it’s on to TT to find a system that accommodates these 4.
September 4, 20223 yr Crucial 3 points, a sloppy but improved performance. Unlike last game, at least we stepped up when we were behind. Chiwell goal was out of no where, but at least 2 players made the run ( didn't see any of that in first 45), and Chiwell had the lovely touch and finish. The change in the team was necessary, not saying those started were great, but at least it got us some momentum, and those dropped actually put in a decent cameo. For once Havertz actually made a good run in the box and didn't miss kick it to row C. We got luck a few times, most notably that shocking Jorginho error resulted in shot on the post. That's the kind of error get a manager sacked, imagine the headline ' Tuchel sub cost Chelsea 3 points'. Mendy is at the crisis point Kepa was 2 years ago, a half hearted slap gave them the goal on the platter. He was not going to get the ball for their second goal, but he was fouled, so right decision via VAR but Mendy was lucky he got fouled. Everytime he touches the ball, it's almost the inevitable feeling he will muck it up. He needs to be dropped, for the team and his own sanity. Aside from the GK, the 3 central defenders actually had a good game. With Fofana's energy and speed, Silva doesn't have to chase around or be 1 on 1, he was at the right place the right time to nullify most threats.

We had a period a while back where we were looking dangerous on corners. Silva, Rudiger, Zouma were timing runs and getting on the end of good deleveries. But we seem to be back to square one and must be the worst team in the league. We get corner after corner and nothing. But a team can get their first corner of a game against us and you just know we will do well not to concede. One of the things that needs to be addressed urgently as it's costing us so many points.

It is obvious that Bowen left his left leg in on Mendy . He could have easily leapt over mendy if he wanted to . Obviously it wasn't enough to injure Mendy but you don't have to injure your opponent for it to be a foul
September 4, 20223 yr Of course West Ham is furious, for the whole game they tried to rough us up, and for once a foul was called correctly. Whether Mendy was going to get there and irrelevant. Attacker lays a foot in GK is automatically a foul, more obvious than hair pulling. Just because we got the VAR call for once, it's the worth decision of the year. I totally expect an apology from Mike Dean tomorrow and a free point to West Ham.
September 4, 20223 yr I was rewatching the highlights and one thing that isn't mentioned enough in the media is Ben's clever finish. Fantastic first touch and he had the presence of mind to guide it between the keeper's legs at such a tough angle. I remember the commentators complaining that Moyes would be furious giving up such an easy goal. And they would have waxed lyrical if it were a pool or city player.

The laws are quite simply you kick a player and it’s a free kick and Bowens foot certainly came into contact with Mendy
September 4, 20223 yr The one positive from yesterday was our midfield solidity, and its no surprise it came as a result of Jorginho being off the pitch. I want to see more of this. That being said, there is a lack of creativity and directness from the midfield. If we are going the Liverpool route in having a strong, and hard working midfield, we need to figure out ways to move the ball quicker to the attackers and wingbacks.

September 4, 20223 yr Chelsea's head of international scouting Scott McLachlan has left after 11 years. this is the BIG news of yesterday.
September 4, 20223 yr f**king hell, the first half seemed to last about 3 hours. at one point we had 70% possession with no shots on target. Anyway, got the win, but I hope we liven up a bit.

Chelsea fans actually got mocked/dismissed for the angst over Taylor - not that I thought a petition was the way to go. Pointless exercise which only generates negative/pisstake emotion towards us.
