With 15 games to go, De Zerbi's Brighton have now scored more goals than they managed in any season under Potter.

I think we saw why in that last half an hour at Stamford Bridge today ...

Juventus are interested in De Zerbi.

Maybe we'll nick one early and Potter can 9-0-1 our way into penalties, there's always hope 😂

Graham will have already took off all our penalty takers by then

I do find it strange that those who continue to back Potter are likely the same ones that probably wanted Sarri out mid season.

People were calling for Benitez and Sarris heads for far better performances than this.

Yah. That would be me. Briefly.

Benitez should never have been appointed given the history and I couldn't have been prouder of the fan's reaction to him at the time. It's not just about the results for all of us my friend.

Sarriball confused me as much as some of our players, hence some of their media comments at the time. The Europa League win against Arsenal was of course great, (and glosses over much of what went before), but it most certainly was not representive of the "Sarriball" we watched being played for much of that season. Slow, repetitive passing, often backwards and sideways. A cautious, possession based system that failed to commit players forwards in numbers. Usually it took an age to get the ball up to the opposition box and when we did, no one was there. And then there was the man himself. People say Potter has no charisma, but Christ on a bike, Sarri quite literally wore a permanent expression akin to a slapped arse and he had absolutely no rapport at all with the fans. He wanted to go at the end of the season. IMO he never really gave the impression he EVER wanted to be here.

Minus Hazard the following season would have diminished his myth

I'd put the first 3 months of football under Lampard as just Sarri ball with the shackles off to be honest. Even at Napoli, he lost Higuain who'd broken the Serie A record for goals in a season, and just turned Mertens into a 25-30 goal a season striker instead.

He inherited a Chelsea team that had played defensive counter attacking football for 5 seasons straight, and tried to make them play a possession game. That's why the first season performances weren't great, by the end of the season we were looking much better. There was actually a process under Sarri. His Napoli team improved year on year, and it looks like his Lazio team are doing the same.

Meanwhile Potter inherited a 3-4-3 possession based team under Tuchel (the exact same style he had at Brighton) and just made them worse.

My theory with the Benitez appointment was Jose's return was already done (I know it was Feb/March time at the latest) so the plan was to get the poundland version to do the implementing the tactics part for him.

You could well be right there Argo. But whatever the rationale he should never have been appointed given the history and depth of feelings. Roman and the focus group totally failed to read the room on that one.

Dominated the game largely but as is to be expected from a team of our quality. Still glaringly obvious we have no attacking threat with Havertz up top. Couple of very good chances that most likely would have been finished against a better team. Thought it was criminal that Mudryk didn't get a chance.

Kepa

Fofana-Thiago Silva-Badiashile

James-Enzo-Zakaria/Kovacic-Chilwell

Mudryk-Felix-Sterling

That team would be Champions League contenders under Tuchel

I don't think the win saves Potter's job but it definitely buys him time to be sacked at the end of the season versus immediately. I'm not too convinced with the managers we are linked with should Potter leave so I'd prefer the club take their time to make the right choice of manager from now to the end of the season.

Bonkers isn't it ?

I live on the south coast now and Brighton fans were outraged when we got him then their backroom staff

Surely Potter is aware of what RDZ has done with the same team to get them scoring ?

Btw.. What HAS he done ?

Could only happen to us, but I don't get upset like the phone in lunatics on the radio,  the team are sh*te , but those so called fans have become banter fodder for other fans.

FFS we're Chelsea not the worst of Arsenal fan TV.

Need to accept that top 4;has gone.

Hopefully safe from relegation.

Let the f**king team go out and play with freedom, the way we did Madrid away last season .

Stop with the no risk , safety first strategy.  And FFS stop playing Havertz as a striker , it's not going to work, you don't need to be a coach to see that.

Please

Why isn't Mudryk getting game time ? I'd like someone to ask Potter.. .. it doesn't make sense

I actually thought he did a good job. But I  get violence offered whenever I say that to my Chelsea mates !

Sarri ball still haunts the club, I see it al the time with different managers and different players.

Let's not get over excited, we aren't going to go on a 13 games winning streak for top 4, be amazed if we somehow makes it to top 6. Change to back 3 was the right move, glad he got something right, maybe watching replays from the last 2 seasons finally paid off ( as well as getting inspirations out of All or Nothing).
