Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

🚨 Understand there have been already approaches for Julian Nagelsmann to be the new Chelsea head coach. Talks will continue to make final decision — but he’s the favorite. #CFC

No confirmation on Pochettino links at this stage. Nagelsmann, mentioned in internal talks yesterday.

So it seems this was led by not Boehly. Hopefully these new people are up to par.

Anyway we are showing stunning lack of resolve. But Boehly and his people are learning the ropes as we go..Potter failed in the short time he was here. He was well liked by everyone but results made his fate....

Winstanley worked at Brighton with Potter for years.

Today is like winning a 3rd champions league.

I joined this forum 11 years ago ahead of the CL final against Munich

Sacking Potter has made me happy enough to make my first post.  A long overdue sacking as he should have gone during the world cup but we got there in the end.

Today is the highlight of our season and the first step to getting us back were we belong!   KTBFFH

Objectively the best decision the new ownership has taken if we don't count the Enzo signing.

It means that unlike the press would have you believe, the club wrote a severance term into the contract.

I have always said Todd is rich man for a reason and no way they wouldn’t write a get out in his contract possibly if you drop below 10 or something like that.

What this does is reset everything once again. Just 7 months ago we did the last reset.

We won't reach CL so this season is already almost certainly done. An amazing CL run would save us but I don't see it.

Yeah I'm a bit surprised it happened now. 2 months earlier and we could've saved the season.

Now he's free I would not be surprised if the English FA have him short listed for the England job.

Hmmm. I think they'd take a hard swerve and thank Chelsea for the test run.

“It is understood that Chelsea will not have to pay the full value of Potter’s contract, which would have been worth around £50m with just over four years remaining on it.“

@mattlaw

Sounds like there’s a clause to protect the club then.

I bloody well hope so. It would have been crazy to not put some sort of clause in there.

Club was left with no choice. The decision make and team selection were getting worse. The decision to not buy a centre forward was crazy and everyone could see it

This is how I predicted that. Boehly makes deals that are heavily performance related. In sports and in football in general it is weird that it is not more common. Could be but you never read a about it

I don’t buy this excuse about CF. We should not be where we are even without a CF we should be minimum top 6

Somehow I doubt that they were that stunned, if they were, then they live in a fantasy world.

I still don't think Potter is deserving of the flack he's been given, but it was growing pretty clear that this wasn't going to turn around. I think he'll rebuild his reputation at a club like Leicester or West Ham and be in line for top jobs or England very soon.

I for one wish him well. Seems a proper good guy.

Agreed. He seems like a decent bloke. He was just not ready for a job of this level. I suspect he will find there are plenty of other Premier League clubs that will be interested in hiring him, and he will likely do fine if he gets the right type of club. It wasn't his fault that he was hired by Boehly, and I suspect he regrets leaving Brighton.

Feel Sorry For Potter But He Had To Go, Originally I Wanted Him After Tuchel Got Sacked, But Boy Was I Wrong About Wanting Him, We've Regressed Massively, Some Selection Choices Were Bewildering

Good Luck To Him In His Future Managerial Options But Hopefully We Get Someone In With The Correct Drive And Tactics, I Ain't Naming Anyone As I'll Probably Make Another Stupid Suggestion
