Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"

Featured Replies

He's having a great season but his form has dipped recently (probably down to having to carry Enzo so often).

But what is annoying me about him of late is his play-acting. Any challenge and he seems to go down and roll about, only to be up 20 seconds later. Sorry Moises, in that role, you have to be hard - please cut out all the silly stuff - it's embarrassing.

It’s pathetic and Liam should make sure that’s stamped out immediately from his game. He doesn’t need to do that so I don’t understand where this has come from. He did it in the Arsenal match when he knew he was about to get a red card.

Its the little hop up in the air whilst gripping various parts of his body and looking imploringly at the referee. So cringing

Shame the guy is just trying to even up the yellows for his team. It's tough being surrounded by morons every game.

Caicedo gave us a glimpse last night of what he might be like if afforded the more attack-focussed box-crashing role that Fernandez luxuriates in.

An instant upgrade basically ... as he can actually shoot properly.

I think we waste Caicedo as a holding DM.

The way Caicedo strikes the ball when shooting is beautiful.

By his own high standards, he looks a little sloppy right now, and really since the Arsenal game. He’s making a few desperate tackles and taking some unnecessary bookings.

Was at his best when tackling was a little more sensible and the rest of his game was being played a little simpler. He’ll find that level again soon I’m sure

This is where I understand entering the market for another CM, given Lavia and Essugo can't either be relied on yet.

Palmer, Cucurella, and Caicedo need to be managed better.

Cucurella and Caicedo have both been flogged.

Caicedo is knackered, he was basically a 1 man midfield under the clown and its hitting him hard now. If we had Lavia fit then we could rest him and play a Lavia/Santos midfield to get Caicedo the rest he needs.

This is turning into a really poor season from Caicedo. He started so well, but constantly chasing the ball like a dog is costing us so many points now. He gives away far too many fouls from nothing because he doesn't understand when to tackle and when to contain.

Should be benched for a few games. Trouble is we don't have any fit midfielders.

He has cost us quiet a lot this month.

Arsenal red card, semi final first leg suspension for sarcastically clapping the ref, and two points here that could very well mean the end of our CL pursuit.

Such fine margins. He was winning so many tackles and nicking balls when he had no right to. Now he's miss timing them and too often getting the man rather than the ball. Could be tired legs / muscles, but looks like he definitely could do with a rest - hope Lavia can fill in sooner rather than later.

A lot of people got carried away when he started the season well but he's always been sloppy on the ball and has the occasional rash challenge in him. He's not our biggest problem by any means but for his price tag, he lets us down far too often

By his own high standards, he is having a bad patch. Too many fouls, too many bookings, missed games, and game changing moments.

We’ve been saying it for a while. To me, he plays better when he plays calmer, when reading the game and keeping it infront of him. When chasing he looks out of control, and poor timing, plus his reputation, is causing problems.

A bad day today. All players need to be held responsible, and his mistake turned the game today.

Come back strong next game.

The only way to turn this around is by keeping in the starting team, he did a lot to deserve it, anyone can have a rough patch of games.

Yeah I don't necessarily agree that this is turning into a really poor season. It's a poor run of form but he's still chipping in with important moments. Won us the game against Pafos 2 weeks ago for starters. Should have atoned for his mistake last night when he put it on a plate for Palmer.

I would always expect Palmer to score that. I think needs a rest and hopefully will get one.

I think that is fair comment - AND I was going to agree with you but watching the replay of it slowed down I think VAR got it wrong!

Caicedo made the challenge: it looked a bit rash from behind but actually he didn't touch the ball and he didn't touch the player...

So no contact until, Bogle slyly hangs his left leg out and wraps his foot around Moises's calf... and takes the dive for the penalty!

Best I can do :

Caicedo pleaded with the ref to no avail and the rest is history...

My initial impression in real time was the same. The Leeds player hooked his leg behind Caicedo's. Probably gave it to "even up" for the one they've decided we shouldn't have had against Palace.

We can slow the game down and look at all the different angles but at the end of the day it was a Penalty.

None of us would even think twice if it had been the other end.

Caicedo has played enough football and has the smarts to know you don’t put yourself in that position regardless, especially in the penalty area.

Now if we want to talk about the bizarre decision not to blow for the handball that is a more than fair talking point.

Agreed - It was pretty obviously a pen.

Has there been anything further on the handball? His arm was not by his side, knocked the ball forward if he hadn't done that, Leeds wouldn't have managed to get the ball in our box. It's nuts that it wasn't called back. If that happens in the box it's either a penalty (if a Defender does it) or a free kick if the attacker does.

I just cant see any complaint when a defending player gives an attacker an opportunity to create a penalty, it was just a dumb tackle that didnt need to be attempted.
