Joao Felix

Featured Replies

I believed that the reason he shunted was because he had the misfortune that in his most important formative year he was at A. Madrid where brawns and exceptional hardwork was valued over creativity and talent. He never could match up to the exacting physical standards demanded by Someone and this lost his way. Same thing happened to Mikel Obi who had all his attacking instinct coached out by a Jose Mourinho who are that time needed a destroyer not a creator. I remembered Arda Turan's interview when he left A.Madrid. He said his body could no longer cope with the physical standards demanded by simeone.  I think the resentment btwn Felix and Simeone started from both not enjoying each other's attributes. With the kind of creative players we have now in the team, I don't expect Felix to struggle so much. If he can rediscover his confidence, we might have a 'gem' of a player in out hands

Hey Chelsea fans,

I'm an Atlético de Madrid supporter who has a soft spot for Chelsea. Apologies if my English isn't great.

I know you've already seen Joao in action before, but I wanted to give you a bit of insight into why he didn't work out at our club and why we were really eager for him to leave.

First and foremost: Both Atlético and Chelsea are teams, with fans who value effort combined with skill. We've always been a bit short on the skill side, but you guys usually manage to blend both qualities well.

Here, we used to call Joao "The Hiker" because Simeone always asked him to take his game up a notch and work selflessly for the team. This is something any coach expects in modern football. But Joao never wanted to step up, and seeing him just walking around on the pitch instead of pressing or letting a player slip by because he didn’t want to run earned him that nickname.

Whichever side he plays on is going to be a defensive weak spot. Cucurella is a fighter, but he's going to struggle even more than when covering Mudrik.

Joao's attitude has been pretty low, especially when he went on loan to Barcelona and celebrated scoring against us by kissing their badge. That was a really unprofessional slap in the face.

Pochettino, Potter, Xavi, Simeone, Roberto Martinez, Fernando Santos... they all ended up benching him, and there was never any self-reflection from Joao.

He’s got a huge ego. He never thinks anything is his fault. He wanted to play for Barcelona because he believed their style was perfect for him, where he wouldn’t have to run much. But he was wrong because Xavi's and Guardiola’s teams demand a lot of effort from their forwards in pressing.

If Joao were scoring 25 goals and getting 15 assists per season, maybe you could excuse him from pressing and working hard for the team. But he misses a lot of chances, and his numbers aren't any better than, say, one of our backup players like Ángel Correa.

We’re definitely happy he's gone, and the sale price was great. I love Gallagher, always thought he’d be perfect for our team, so I’m really bummed he’s leaving Chelsea, especially like this.

If you’ve got any questions, I’d be happy to answer them. I might ask you some about Conor if that’s okay.

Cheers!

I’m sorry but this is complete rubbish.

We bought him for more than we sold Gallagher for, and we're stuck with him for seven years. We know these two players; we know that Conor is brilliant at everything and will bleed for the club, and we know that Félix is lazy and inept.

I really don't know what to say. Just when you think BlueCo have hit the nadir of incompetence, they find unimaginable ways to surprise you. BlueCo are a f**king farce.

Well that's just not true

Question is has he been given a shirt number yet or is he eyeing up Raheems?

14, apparently Neto is getting 7 so that’s Sterling either out or using his healthy wages to do bench warming for the next 3 years.

With Conor gone and another non HGP added is anybody doing the mathematics on HGP in the squad? How many do we have now, is it as low as 3? How many of the under 21’s will eventually get 3 years in and qualify as HGP?

Sell Conor. Buy Felix that the club did not want a year ago.

Great Job GIF by Jake Martella

Not sure about that Neto has already been given the number 19.  Played in it at the weekend.

Just checked the store and Neto’s number 7!  Goodbye Raheem guess youre gone mate.

Just what we need another 4ft.5inch 10 stone player to help at corners and stamp his authority on the play   jury out on this one along with Enzo F

he's about 6 foot, or just under, he's a luxury player, we know what he can do and he has got some moments of magic in his feet. Not sure why people are so pessimistic.

I understand theres alot to be frustrated about with the workings of our club these day. But the media is currently on a campaign to drum up resentment and hate against our club, and it looks like its working, because many are so negative.  Lets be positive, felix is very talented player and if marescas style can get a song out of him, then we really have done well for the money we have paid. Hes one of those players that in a moment can create magic to ignite and inspire others around him. Good luck to the lad.

You got the better deal imo. Think Gallagher will impress at Atelitco, youre getting a player moving into top tier performers. Will cover every blade of grass and compete for every minute likely to score some crackers.

Should he be on the same register as nonces?

I've never heard that one - interesting.

I dunno... should he?

No apology needed, your English is way better than our Spanish.

Our whole team is a defensive weak spot so Felix will probably feel right at home 😄

I read that Felix has a goal involvement (score or assist) of 0.5 per game and that Gallagher was 0.3. I’d argue that Portuguese and Spanish defences are weaker than in England (Ronaldo averaged a goal every 2 games in England and 1 every game at Madrid) so the players we have “swapped” would seem to be comparable in attack. What do you think?

I think Felix is a great gamble, he's top class in so many things, was bought young for a huge fee and huge wages, still 24 and sounds at least somewhat humbled. I like him proactively betting on himself willing to dramatically reduce his wages to prove himself.

Maybe he's been moody and a "brat" because we ruined every other club once he came here on loan. Loved it too much. Lol

I do like the interview though...

New signing Joao Felix has said "there is no better place for me to be than Chelsea" following the completion of his transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to club media, external the Portugal international said he sees the club as a "perfect place to shine".

He said: "It was a little bit of a lot of things that made me want to come back; the project, the club, the league, the fans, the time I spent here that I loved. I felt really good when I was here, despite the results we had. I'm really happy to be back."

Felix, who was previously on loan at Chelsea, continued: "I've developed as a player in a lot of ways; the perception of the game and the spaces the ball can arrive easily where I can make more impact, I try to figure it out by watching some videos of me of my games.

"I've kind of changed since I was last here. I'm 24 now. I feel like I grew up as a player. That's normal with age. I'm more prepared for the Premier League.

"I feel like my best years are ahead of me. I have no doubt about that. The best years are still to come. And this year is going to be a good year, because now I am permanently at home, and I can enjoy home."

I still can’t quite get my head around the signing of Felix. Here before and didn’t really set the world alight and another player who offers much of the same as those already in the squad and having just signed Neto, this seems a very strange one AND we have lost Gallagher at the same time.

As others have said, an undoubted talent – at times brilliant, but a big question mark over character and consistency. I just wonder, with his time at City, if Maresca is looking at the City of a few seasons ago and is looking to duplicate? Pre Haaland, and when Aguero was out injured they used to play with KDB, Sterling, Mahrez, Silva, Gundogan etc and play with no striker and perhaps we will do the same. Looks like Sterling is history and if it means we will see less of Jackson in the starting 11 and his role will be coming off the bench, I might be all for it.

Because it's the go-to option around here.

We all know the situation at Chelsea is far from perfect but the medias over the top exaggerated nonsense is infuriating.  The amount of times the 40 plus squad is recycled in the news while ignoring the facts is a good illustration of the state of today's media propaganda.  The original list is disingenuous to start off, including players that are obviously out the door like Lukaku with youth players scattered about, a couple probably from the under 12's just to exaggerate the point.  Now with more players like Sterling, Chilwell clearly not in Marescas plans and a number of players now out on loan they're still referring to this hyperbolic 40 plus list.

So having made a mountain out of the squad size now they're sensationalising the fact we are now reducing the squad size.   With most pundits jumping on the bandwagon to kick Chelsea it's a good yardstick to show which pundits have sense and not just a mouthpiece for the agenda.  Carragher and Neville clearly fail the test.

At the end of the day if the squad is reduced to a workable number for Enzo and he has a competitive squad then what's all the polavour about.  You can question some of the business but that's normal for any transfer window.  I really do hope we smash the league and win multiple trophies if just to shut these muppets up.

But as of now, we have players being paid a lot of cash to play 5 a side with teenagers for 4 or 5 mornings a week. The stick we’re getting is well deserved.

Agreed, but the constant financial narrative and bantering from the press and collective punditry is getting wearying now. We need the footie to start properly cos this barrage of negativity is becoming ridiculous. I have no faith whatsoever in the people running our club and i have an intense dislike of their motivation and model, but its again selective reporting intent upon constantly undermining all that the club does.

Instead of Boehly's billions, billion pound bottle jobs etc, there is no chance of something like this being reported is there. No chance of this being part of the narrative.

"Chelsea's opening game of the season had a predictable air to it as defending league champions Man City ran out 2-0 winners over last season's 6th place London side. At  the outset of a season whereby significant alleged financial irregularities may pull the champions asunder, there was still an air of inevitability in the overall outcome when in the 18th minute the £300k pw Bernardo Silva re-routed a pass from £50k pw Jeremy Doku so the £100k pw Chelsea defender Levis Colwill failed to prevent the £375k pw towering centre forward, Haaland, from opening the scoring. With £150k pw Mateo Kovacic putting his old club to the sword and the £400k pw Kevin de Bruyne looking imperious as either, the £1.275m City attack proved to be too much for the £520k Chelsea defence and the hapless £60k pw Sanchez in goal. Proof again that whilst the sharks circle around the alleged boardroom shenanigans, who pays the most gets the most. Oh and Peps' a genius, yada yada yada"

No fking chance.

When the window closes, if we have a 25-28 man squad then we will be ready to go. If that squad is full of quality players, even if somewhat unbalanced, its what we wanted. We need strength in depth

Fck em ell, fck em all

Borson, Carragher, and Neville

We are the Chelsea and we are the best............
