August 20, 20241 yr Not sure what any of these YouTube vids prove as I am pretty sure I have read many times that every league other than the EPL is a farmers league.
August 20, 20241 yr Insult to James Rodriguez who has been pretty productive everywhere he went bar Everton.
August 20, 20241 yr Looks like it’s all but done, might as well be supportive now nothing can be done about it. Play him striker and he may well prove to be worth it.

But my issue with Felix is that even at his absolute best, he is not productive enough. He does not translate his runs and passes into goals and key passes/assists, nor is he a particularly game-breaking player. Add in the mindless fouls and red cards that have littered his career and he is a bit of a waste.

Wouldn’t matter if he was producing the goods but the return on that huge wage is hard to justify. Plus there’s the matter of us trying to come up with Osimhen’s wages so selling Chilwell and Sterling makes financial sense.
August 21, 20241 yr It might make financial sense to them but I think that's a big problem and one of many reasons that a lot fans are angry! They were the ones that put Sterling on that contract at that wage! Didn't they recently give Broja a new 7-year contract?

They also increased Chilwells wage to 200k and extended his deal in year 1 as well. A lot of rival fans are falling over themselves laughing at this deal.
August 21, 20241 yr I don't rate either but if we can sell Sterling and replace him with Felix at the reported figures, we will at least be financially better off with little impact to the football side. The reality is they will probably have a similar (lack of) output on the field, but on the books, Felix will be roughly less than half of what Sterling costs. August 21, 20241 yr We gave Athletico the hardest working player in football and we signed the laziest player in football.
August 21, 20241 yr I have absolutely nothing against Felix the player or Felix the man. Good player and still a young one and very nice bloke. But I don't see how he makes our team better especially when he cost us ~£43m. We are looking to move Sterling and or Madueke but I feel both of them are more ready and able to improve the team than Felix. I hope this pans out. I was very sceptical about Palmer as well.
August 21, 20241 yr Phew, I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms from the lack of signings over the last few days

I'd have my money on him getting #7, or maybe even #11again, if Noni ends up as the next one on the block ... With Felix and Neto coming in, I can certainly see the club shipping another winger out in addition to Sterling, and they seem too emotionally invested for it to be Mudryk.
August 21, 20241 yr The talent is unquestionable, he's a joy to watch on the ball. It's his mentality that has been the problem. Felix was supposed to develop into a world class player when Atletico bought him for the club's record amount back in the day. That never happened. Part of it was him not being mature enough, part of it was injuries and obviously he fell out with Simeone, which meant there was no future for him at Atletico. Funny thing is, he's only 24 although it feels like he's been around for ages. This is probably his last chance at becoming the player many thought he was going to be when he broke into the scene as a boy wonder at Benfica. Whether he can do it is a big if, but it's probably a gamble worth taking at the money quoted.

Bring in Felix, a huge but largely unfulfilled talent coming into his prime, spreading the fee over several years of his contract. We pass on Omorodian because we have faith in Guiu to develop as a back up striker. And we try for Osimhen in the final days of the window. If we can get Sterling off the books, all the better as that can go toward Osimhen instead. If the Board can pull all that off, I think it’s smart business. What an optimistic outlook. Frankly - it's needed even if a bit naive? But I wholeheartedly hope you're right!
August 21, 20241 yr Just what we need another 4ft.5inch 10 stone player to help at corners and stamp his authority on the play jury out on this one along with Enzo F
