Can't see it. He is blind if he doesn't see the talent in Hall. Pochettino doesn't give the impression that he would miss something so obvious. This feels like a consequence of paying so much money for Caicedo and Lavia. I just don't like that it's Hall that we are sacrificing.

I mean he wasn't particularly trusted a whole lot during preseason.

Let's see how this plays out.

If you'd watched any videos of Hall at left back for the development squad last season then you'd bite Newcastle's arm off for £30m ... he really wasn't very good !

Did he not play a few games last season in the PL. I thought I heard people rave about him or have I got that totally wrong?

Anyway I said it a few days ago, I think the plan is to increase the team/club value in 10 years by starting to succeed immediately but taking big gambles along the way. Investing all the money they were required to all at once on future potential good/great players and hope player value increases so they can sell for profit and countering the FFP hit by selling "assets" quickly. Right now all of the players are assets and they are just re-optimising their assets to eke out value. I just hope they don't ignore the brilliant academy that has made all this possible.

Kinda what I think, I think Poch would of suggested the loan move to Palace so he gets decent minutes this season compared to sitting on our bench and the club can see how he progresses.

A permanent sale would almost certainly be a board decision IMO.

It could be a similar situation to James and Livaramento, only it's Hall and Maatsen this time.

Which doesn't add up when you consider preseason and Maatsen not once playing LB.

not crying over lewis hall good prospect if we sell him for profit good it need to be more than 30 mil tho 45 at least and i think that in 3-4 years time he will be a starter in a top 8 side

That could be said about a lot of the players we have signed. Chukwuemeka, Mudryk, Madueke, Jackson, Ugochukwu, Santos, Lavia, Badiashile, Gusto, are all of these players top 8 side players right now? They all seem to have a long way to go before they get to that level

looking at it from the club perspective if they believe that ugochukwu, lavia and santos got a higher potential than lewis hall which is a player they can sell for pure profit why not do it. i like lewis hall but im not overly emotional about the situation  its just logical

Apparently Newcastle fans he’d start straight at LB and his whole family are Newcastle fans.

Maybe Hall is pushing for it?

That’s weird considering he was born in Slough.

As echoed by the majority, I feel this is just a hit we’ll have to take, the squad is congested enough as it is. The book profit on £30m is just too good to resist despite the potential repercussions.

Think Hall may be pushing for it as well.

They're all pushing for it - fine - but then we need to absolutely fleece them, not accept a crummy offer of £30m.

Issue is Newcastle are skint atm with regards to FFP.

I'd push 30m + first refusal clause. Can take advantage of their situation.

Would be pointless, if he is actually a boyhood Newcastle fan he'll either go there for the rest of his career or not end up good enough.

What the f**k?? :face_palm:

That had to be a cost to our spending. This is one of them apparently. Trev and Maatsen will also be part of that imo.

Between them we might be able to get 80mill.

40mill plus a sell on percentage and I would consider it a good deal.

Why does it have to go to the extreme? Going from selling a player who's played a handful of games in a position he doesn't even want to play in to a player in Colwill who our manager and board have entrusted to become one of the best CBs in the world, not to mention we had a chance to sell him this summer already.

This isn't something that i am actually wanting to happen, but if as others have said the amortisation is at the levels that is being mentioned and we need to generate 100m+ in net outgoings each year, then how is this to be done. Surely these types of opportunities will be attractive tothe board. Hopefully not and we have truly developed a squad for the next ten years.

If we make the top 4 every season (or even the top 6) it shouldn't be hard to generate 100m+ every season without selling players. So I think our model is going to be heavily reliant on making it to Europe.

At some point, the academy will dry up. Players will cotton on and stop signing.

Bar the first team players we’ve bought, I think we’ve over paid and over bought on these young foreign kids. Not convinced any of them will make it and most of them we’ve spent £20m on them. There’s no way we make that back when they have 7 year contracts.

If he wants to go get the best possible price for him I said I didn’t see this happening but looking at it now at some point we will need to sell pure profit players from the academy it’s as simple as that.
