February 1, 20233 yr And at this point, here is the updated flight plan!! We'll see him at Cobham or SB tomorrow

They must be the most delighted of anyone. That is huge money for an Argentina club. What does that work out to? Just over 30mill euros?

Well, he will kiss Chelsea badge as well, just don't take it personally. Only us, supporters, kiss badges for a sentimental reason. Financially it is great for us, but there will be nobody to replace him. Live goes on. Benfica is bigger than any player.
February 1, 20233 yr This article has some good graphs and stats on his positional play. Look at the defensive ground covered. https://www.espn.com.au/football/soccer-transfers/story/4865593/who-is-chelseas-new-120m-midfielder-enzo-fernandez

February 1, 20233 yr This may get panned, but on the ball is he a little bit like Paul Scholes? The addition beyond that appears to be his work rate, fitness, positional play and tackling. Also, who do we think is the best partner for him from the current lot? Probably anyone thats fit, but assuming they all were, my order of preference would be Kante, Zakaria, Kova, Gallagher, RLC Edited February 1, 20233 yr by PhilH930

A profit of 200m in 1 season alone

A very good technician with a few extra bows to his string but not the greatest physical attributes. It would be a waste to play him as a holding no. 6. So I'd go with Zakaria or Kante and definitely take a stab at Caicedo or Rice in the summer.

February 1, 20233 yr 55 minutes ago, evissy said: So what can we expect of him? Based on what I saw in wc, he is your typical thiago/veratti or good version of Kova. Calm in possesion, clean technically, can dribble, can punch the ball if needed, can play slow if needed. He does not look like as good of an athlete as Kova though. I think how well he will play for us especially early will depend on how fast he can adapt to the physicallity n speed of pl game. You saw what happen to Saul in his first game. February 1, 20233 yr Don't know much about Fernandez other than he is young, had a decent world cup, and has only been at Benfica a very short time. 121 million euros is a helluva lot of money. But if he has half the positional sense and timing of Makelele, half the power and strength of Essien, half the athleticism and work rate of Kante.......... he will be a bargain. AND, if he doesn't pass mostly sideways or backwards, can run with a bit of pace, and can hit a solid tackle...... he's already an upgrade. Edited February 1, 20233 yr by just

I think you will be happy to see that when there is space in front of him, he will bring the ball forward.
