True but I also think he was nor far off this level under Potter, even under Lamps he was the one diamond in the extreme rough.

His lack of assists were always pretty misleading as he's been robbed off some absolutely beautiful ones due to teammates poor finishing.

To Poch's credit, albeit an abysmal effort, he did realize Enzo's value further forward.

I honestly want to dissect Poch's brain and understand why he actually moved away from what worked in preseason until April of last season. Preseason we had midfield overloads but then as soon as we signed Caicedo he felt as if he was Makelele and could protect the entire backline on his own.

Our entire gameplan changed, we were dynamic and direct in attack pre season, first match of the proper season we were passing around at the back trying to play possession. It was so weird.

 The difference is starting/recieving position. Pochettino had Fernandez recieving the ball high up the field under pressure, with a massive gap to Caicedo and the defence, whereas Maresca has Fernandez starting deep, roaming, and crucially recieving the ball on the run. The biggest change Maresca has made is telling Fernandez to actually get into the box and getting off his arse to run. Maresca was this exact same sort of player.

Fernandez' goal on the weekend, and his almost-assist to Palmer in the first half, are the perfect illustrations of what his role should be. 

Really liked Enzo today put himself in some nice positions, three times Madueke should have given him the ball, but Noni was.a bit selfish or lacked vision.

I'm pleased with most of his performance but I still think a couple of times he was weak in the tackle/out of position that ended up leading to a Brentford break. Then again, Caicedo is getting much better at covering for him which gives Enzo more licence to hurt teams in attack like he did again yesterday.

I would rather see Enzo playing alongside Caicedo and Lavia.

Had a good couple of games and now he's back to his old ways. Also don't see any sort of leadership from him as a Captain, just seems like a Jorginho 2.0 kind of captain. I hope James can stay fit for the rest of the season.

Fully agree.  Get Lavia fit and Enzo is back on the bench for me.  I don't see him as a player who will ever adapt to the English game.  As you say, just like Jorginho.  If he has time and space to play pretty balls then he looks good.  Put under pressure in a high pace game and he disappears. 

Much better suited to the Italian or French league.

Recall Santos, let Enzo be 4th choice behind him, Caicedo and Lavia, for the 10 games a season he is fit.

Nah, if Lavia can stay fit once and for all of i would keep Lavia-Caicedo-Enzo in. I see a lot of potential there.

Not sure Lavia is better than Enzo.

We certainly play a whole lot better and are more difficult to beat when Lavia plays.

Enzo has some great touches and at times has good vision for a pass, but he's far too light-weight (Jorginho so) and loses possession more in one game than Lavia probably would over a whole season.

Not sure I agree with that. Lavia is a amazing and rare talent but defensively he is as bad as Enzo and the worst part is that he is at his best playing the deepest midfielder. 

Imo who is better between the two depend on the opp.

Lavia isn't outstanding defensively but he is still better than Enzo. 

Hes probably got another girlfriend and hence the outrageous drop-off in form the past three games.

We should trade him to Atletico and have a reall box to box midfielder called Connor Gallagher...  

Him being captain is a big pi$$ off than his performances, which are mostly poor. 

Given his issues in the summer making him captain is a joke.

He is like marmite. His performances have been very good, he is making key passes and creating chances but the team has been worse off when he has been dropped deeper. You play him next to Caicedo, and you reduce the latter to a DM.
