Listen, if it’s just to the end of the season I’m not too worried should Lampard get it. We are unlikely to win the CL and unlikely to qualify for European football next season. We also can’t be relegated.

Having said that the above surely means we need the manager who is in charge next season in now. Gives him the opportunity to assess the squad with no real pressure and start next season ready.

I’d probably with Enrique first choice then Nagelsmann.

how some of you are happy with lampard appointment?

jesus christ we still have champions league and we have a chance, even a small chace, we can't plya against real madrid with lampard as a coach

what a f**king joke

Im done with this board

How does hiring lampard make sense.

Sack Lampard, appoint Tuchel , win the champions league, Sack Tuchel, change direction entirely and hire Potter, sack him after 7 months and hire lampard again. Make it make sense Please?

Because when we sack Lampard next, we'll rehire Tuchel and win the Champions League again. You don't mess with a proven system.

Have you seen how bad we’ve been this season? Lampard is not the greatest manager, but you will never convince me he’ll do worse than Potter or Bruno. Besides, who else could we get as an interim?

No, taking interim job shows low self-esteem. Can never be a boost in a career, only maybe if you were an assistant coach. I respect Frank for taking this risk, but....

I know what you’re saying, but I think to walk into the mess that is Chelsea at the moment actually shows a lot of confidence.

Ashely Cole reported to join Lampard. Rumors Terry as well.

f**k it. Just bring in Drogba and Cech as well.

As one of Lampard's critics when he was here, might surprise some to read that I'd support this.

Lampard in my opinion isn't bad per se at his level of development as a Manager. He was just bad for our aspirations, I don't believe we as a club should allow any unproven managers practice runs with our club.

The league is too competitive for that. Two bad games with others maintaining their momentum could set you back big time.

I didn't like his tactical acumen, his sometimes obvious favoritism, and inability to foster team spirit. I liked his attacking mindset, his Chelsea ethos, his professionalism and ability to discipline.

We won't be challenging for anything, and I personally think the champions league is out of reach this season no matter who we bring in. And this isn't factual but just emotion based primarily on; what are the odds we'd go and win the f**king champions league 😂 three times in a row when a season is gone awry and after managerial changes.

For a wasted season, the value I see in the appointment with those guys by his side (Cech apart as don't see him returning to work in Boehly regime), is that they can help instill some of that Chelsea ethos, that never say die attitude, that fight, that fire that this team obviously lacks before the new manager comes in.

It could be a huge lift to the team as what we need right now more than anything is a boost to morale  and with less than three months, what could go wrong.

Please Frank, don't say hold my beer lol.

Maybe the plan is to sack Lampard and bring Tuchel back. Boehly you rascal genius. 😂😂😂

Do you seriously think that is an unreasonable comment from @19seventyone. 0-0 vs Fulham, 1-1 vs West Ham, 0-1 vs Southampton, 0-2 vs Spuds, 2-2 vs Everton and 0-2 vs Aston Villa. These are not elite clubs.

Yet beating Real Madrid over two legs, then either Bayern or Man City and then, possibly Napoli to win the champions league.

RM Played 27 - 59 points, Bayern Played 26 - 55 points, Man City Played 28 - 64 points, Napoli Played 28 - 71 points. Chelsea Played 29 - 39 points.

Whilst we can all hope for CL success it is perfectly reasonable to say its unlikely. It would be a bl00dy miracle. In fact even Tuchel would struggle to win all these games

The current board didnt sack Lampard in the 1st place.

What would you have done assuming the managers we want cant come in now, which is a safe assumption?

Bruno reportedly doesnt want it.

Barry wants to go to bayern.

Who would you have brought in to coach the club?

Uncle gus?

Whoever comes in has maybe 3 sessions and the wolves game before playing madrid. Who comes in and gives us a significantly better chances of winning the champions league?

What about the league, is there an interim available that could get us top 6? With the difficult run in we have.

Lots of complaints and no solutions. Maybe Zidane would take the job for a few months, he knows madrid well, cant speak english, but I'm sure his aura would be enough to win the champions league.

I think the club are doing the right thing by appointing an interim to allow themselves time to get the next appointment right. We all criticised Bohley for appointing Potter too quickly so I’m glad they’re not rushing it.

I disagree with this. There are an increasing number of managers looking for work with a few more probably adding to it soon, Cooper for instance and possibly even Moyes after the shambles from West Ham tonight.

Law of the jungle, you don't have to be the fastest to survive, just be quicker than the slowest. If Lampard comes in here and in ten games gets more wins than Potter has this calendar year then when the next job comes up its likely he will be higher up the pecking order than Potter. If you're Steve Parish looking for the next Palace manager, for example, are you going for Potter with 3 wins all year or Lampard coming into a circus, settling things, picking up wins and better performances. Even if it is temporary it can still improve Lampard's CV, if he gets some of it right.

Boehly: How did we win the Champions League last time?

Board: We fired Frank to hire Tuchel.

Boehly: well it's too late for that. What was the Premier League like?

Board: Arsenal was bad, Newcastle was worse, Brighton was sh*t, and Leicester was good.

Boehly: okay data nerds. If everything is backwards, then why aren't we doing the exact opposite?

I've got nothing against Frank, but surely unless we suspect someone like Carlo could be available in the summer who we could get, then why dawdle on the two major managers who are available, I understand  Enrique is definitely available now and our supposed front runner Nagelsmann were not 100% sure if he is,but leaving it until the summer will give other teams such as PSG a chance to grab Nagelsmann from under our noses.

Of course we have a chance. Who would have predicted we would have won either of our CL’s at this point of the season.

That doesn’t get away from my point that we are unlikely to win it this year and I’m pretty sure most would agree. I’m looking forward to being proved wrong though…..
