Absolutely f**king disaster of a season. The worst in my 50 plus years of following the club. Yes but Southampton haven't spent £600 million on players. Nothing was as bad as 78-79 five wins all season in a 42 game season and I was at two of them one being the 4-3 against Bolton. Honestly can't see how Lampard could get another job his recent record for us and Everton is appalling.
May 22, 20233 yr Frank didn't hire himself, the mugs that own us did. I don't really blame him because we all knew he was a poor manager and so did everyone else. His heart ruled his head coming back here probably thinking he could help us. His prehistoric football tactics had other ideas. His legacy isn't tarnished for me, he's still one of if not the greatest servants this club has ever had. All the blame lies in the hands of those who own us for the shambolic season we have endured.
May 22, 20233 yr I think all his jobs have had mitigating circumstances but also that he has done way better than people give him credit for (usually) Derby - playoff final and attracted some good young loans that he improved to supplement and already decent team. chelsea (1) - got us 4th with a transfer ban and blooded all the players we love today. Second season was top, then struggled for a few weeks through a hard run of fixtures and was sacked (as we do to all managers) Everton - kept them up with a dire team, a team with 3 points in 15 games before he arrived. They then sold his best attacker and replaced them with CBs and CMs leaving him with no attacking players. They had the best defence in the league for about the first 10 games, after which it all crumbled from the lack of goals he didn’t have the players to score. chelsea 2 - we have about 400 players and everyone’s out the door or given up for the season, even pep would struggle with this lot this season

Agreed, though Frank's stunting Carneys development in blocking him going to the under 20 world cup to sit on our bench has been disgraceful. Lewis Hall is lucky, if Ben "Anderton" Chilwell not done himself in again he would be in the same boat am sure.
May 22, 20233 yr Still a club legend , but I'd be surprised he gets another job at PL level, more likely needs to go down a division and brings a team up.

If I was Frank, I'd now be looking for a part-time media gig, and combining that with semi-retirement and concentrating on bringing the kids up - a good recipe for a happy stress-free life. I very much doubt he needs the money ...

May 23, 20233 yr Cech had the personality for that role, immensely popular amongst the player group. Not sure Lampard has the personality or the man management skills.
May 23, 20233 yr I can't help but wonder if Frank might benefit from working under the Special One fora while to gain some top insight.

May 23, 20233 yr So Boehly walked in the dressing room seeing Tuchel banging Mrs. Werner on top of the table snorting lines off her stomach.

May 23, 20233 yr I never thought of Tuchel looking like a recovering crackhead…but now that you’ve mentioned, I can’t get it out of my head.

This rotten mentality everyone is showing started creeping in when he arrived and by the time he left any resemblance of pride and fight was completely gone. Lampard haven't done well but he should never have accepted the job in hindsight. He took on a impossible task. In Potters defence, he came in to build his own team, so he's going to have to make difficult decisions and leave out players that he thinks aren't suited. He was right on Auba, but I did think some of his lineups and subs especially were truly baffling. Lampard, however, has come out and said he doesn't want to risk his job. What sort of stupidity is that? As much as people want to say Frank has this impossible job, he also has no pressure whatsoever, he could well and truly lose every game and not get the sack. So he should be playing our youngsters more and trying to get them more game time and give it to the players that actually have a future here.

Very strange what he said in the post-match press conference after City. From memory, the wording was: "I have to think about my job" in relation to the selection or non-selection of Carney. Lampard isn't the most eloquent bugger at the best of times. I took him to mean his job in terms of selection and management of players. Only because the alternative meaning, hanging onto his job, doesn't make sense given his job is finished next Sunday as he, and the whole world, knows.
