After the Arsenal game I was so annoyed I wanted him gone but after claiming down and looking at the bigger picture getting rid of him when the players are all clearly playing for him would be suicidal to any progress we want to make next season.

If the players had down tools it would have been an easy decision, but the Villa game and now this shows clear sign this team is growing and learning.

Until the injuries get fixed it’s impossible for any manager to make a real charge up the table.

Good to see us do the double over Spurs, hopefully those Chelsea fans that hate Poch because of the Spurs connection will be less vocal now.

Next up for us is WHU, they have some good players and really we need to beat this lot as they are just beneath us in the table.

I can't see us winning all of our remaining games and inconsistency will hurt us before the season is out.

I think this is the key factor. Also let's be realistic here, there's no manager out there that would join us that is a significant upgrade on Poch. If Pep suddenly gets bored after his 4 in a row and wants a challenge then by all means, otherwise I would rather stick it out with Poch.

When you consider injuries, etc, we are exactly where we should be league position wise. With better injury luck we may be top 6 but even that was always going to be unlikely.

It’s far from a sure bet but I think it’s definitely achievable with the fixtures we have got.

some harsh VAR calls away from 3 wins in the last 4 , the 4 games preceding that was 2 wins and 2 draws.

If you've read my posts in this thread by now, you know already I am one of his biggest contestants. But I would let him in charge next season, too.

Hopefully we'll be in the market for a top striker (Osimhen?) and that will ease the burden on him a bit as he will only have to sort out the defence in pre season.

The more I watch this team play, the more I think it was not built for a possession based type of manager. We have had a rough season, but apart from the 5-0 thumping at Arsenal and the 4-1 loss at Anfield, we've looked decent to good against the top sides. 

I think we will look even better with the introduction of Nkunku on the left and a new top striker coming in. With Palmer at no. 10 in a free role and Madueke on the right, I believe we will be fun to watch and a very good team in transition.

Hansi Flick rumours circulating again. Really? What has he achieved? Doesn’t seem an upgrade at all. 
 

Poch is proven in the PL and able to work with youngsters. I agree with Gary Neville that it will be utter madness to get rid of Poch.

I was a bit kneejerky after the Arsenal game myself, but who can blame any Chelsea fan these days? We get put to the test more than anyone.

But I'm still no longer convinced Pochettino is the answer to take us forward next season unfortunately. I've had my doubts for a while, but I would be willing to give him another season should there be bang average alternatives in the summer.

You can make this team play a more controlled football. You just can't play some player.

Sure it is. It would've fixed the glaring issue we've seen all season. Gaps and isolation in midfield. It provides options in midfield in transition, we have runners in Gallagher and Caicedo to cover space, and we have bodies in midfield to fill gaps and protect the backline. 

I think in the long term our new LB should be able to play this role, along with being defensively sound and able to win aerial duels.

I feel slightly vindicated for my "this isn't the game to judge him" after the arsenal game. 

Getting rid of him would be monumentally stupid. He might not be the guy to take us to the top, but getting rid of him will mean the next won't either.

Modern PL is all about fast transition and direct football with speedy wingers full of trickery. This if you are not called Pep. That is a different type of football that nobody can replicate.

But for others this is the way to go and the major reason why Klopp has had Liverpool at the very top for such a long time. 

Also works for Arteta because in PL teams open up more often, especially at home and you can abslutely destroy them in transition when you have speedy wingers like Saka and Martinelli and a very good passer in midfield like Odegaard who can carve up defences with a simple pass.

I feel we would not evolve at all next season if we would put Palmer on the wing and pack the midfield. Think it would be best to utilise the attacking potential in our favour and have Palmer at no. 10 and wingers in their position that once you recover the ball they are already on their bike trying to get in behind and when they have the ball are direct and take defenders on.

Nkunku - Palmer - Madueke behind a top striker would be devastating in transition. The only headache Pochettino would have for the attacking positions is who he pairs Caicedo with. Cole at no. 10 with Caicedo at no. 8 makes room for Enzo to play deeper in his natural defensive position. But Gallagher also looks so damn good in the pivot with Caicedo. Lavia will also feel like a new signing as well.

I think that last season was so bad that people have set the bar so low for Poch now.

 

Sky News reported that without Cole Palmer, we would have been 18th on 28 points after the Arsenal game.

 

Has Poch really been a good coach, or have we just added a world class prospect to our attack?

For me Cole Palmer looks half the player as the No.10 yet where else can Madueke play?

I am sure this season the fans of Everton and Forest would dispute that. Probably also Man U, Dirty Leeds, Sunderland as well.

If the worst our fans have to put up with over the past 20 years is 2 o3 3 mid table finishes, but have won titles, european cups and had billions pumped into the club - then I dont think, even with the darkest blue tinted glasses, that we can genuinely claim to be "put to the test" in any significant way.

This is the problem, Madueke doesn't seem to be able to play on the left so we have to sacrifice Palmer's output to fit him in. Not sure it's going to work in the long term.

If the upward trajectory persists for the remaining four games and we continue to look like a coherent team with a Caicedo-Gallagher midfield and Cucurella inverting when Gallagher push forward I would be in favour of keeping him over the summer. He's left it awfully late and thus made it unnecessary hard for himself but i've been impressed with how we've looked v Everton, Villa and yesterday so if there are signs of that continuing for the last 4 I would give him another pre-season and the start of next season.

There's a caveat though and that is the whole Gallagher situation. If the owners and director completely undermine the manager and sell him despite all his wishes and how vital he is to the team I don't see the point in keeping Poch. Frankly I don't think he'd see the point either and would likely walk but if Conor's kept and a littlebit of experience is brought in it could potentially work.
