So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

I wish people would give him that grace. One of the biggest criticisms of Potter was that even if its a "process" there should be signs of improvement when we play bad. The team has shown improvements both offensively and defensively even in our losses so Poch deserves time for the improvements to continue to progress.

Well for me was madness calling for him to be gone prior to Brighton.

End of the day I wanted Potter to have the whole season, well minus the TT games, before we made a call on him.

I would like Pochettino to get the same grace. Assess him at the end of the season.

Sure we will moan about some selections he makes, subs he uses and tactical choices when we draw or lose but even Jose and Carlo got that so it is normal.

Said at the time after the WC we needed to see some assurances from Potter. Started off well but then drifted and a culmination of poor in game management and tactics had me convinced he isn't at this level yet. Saints defeat was when I wanted him gone.

I'm sure Poch will last the whole season, he's already making some progress, at least fans could tell what he tried to do, can't say the same about Potter. The  job was too big and too early for Potter, right from the first day to the last. The timing of the sacking and what followed made it worse, but there were clear signs on several occasions he was close to be let go

Agree, without starting another war on here I never saw any form of improvement under Potter despite what some on here keep telling me. And when we did marginally play better it was always one step forward and two steps back.

The majority of the time we looked second best and completely flat everywhere. Under Poch, I have my criticisms but I also recognize that we have injuries that have almost certainly impacted the lineup. I believe we're on a good trajectory to go somewhere next season.

If we manage to finish in the top 6 I'll be very impressed with the team, top 4 we've got no chance I'm not going to bother. Top 8 is what we should be aiming for as a minimum IMO. But most importantly we just have to see improvements in our football and a good pattern of play, which is something I have been witnessing. It's for this reason I'm not too pessimistic about things.

Not sure I agree with you about Potter.

There were simply too many red flag under Potter.

That was his best coaching performance today. We won the midfield battle, made Arsenal look painfully average at times, but he was let down by the goalkeeper.

Nope. We have been pretty good pretty much all season.

One of the best performances of the season even though we didn’t win. Sanchez let us down and I hope that doesn’t overshadow the performance or get to the players. Onwards and upwards

I don’t think they will lose confidence they know why they didn’t win because of individual mistake and no because they didn’t play well.

It is funny how suddenly poch look better after we finally have somebody who can replace carney to play as connector, even though nothing has really changed

Our pressing has been good since day one. It is the same with build up. The most problematic aspect of our game has always been individual mistake defensively and final third play.

Sterling has been our best and most consistent attacker since day one. We finally have Palmer who can help him. Jackson was terrible today. Mudryk scored a freak/wonderful goal but he didn't do much. Nothing really change.

Gotta appricate the irony of a Pochettino coached side being the better side at the Bridge against a big London rival, taking a deserved 2 nil lead and then bottling it.

It's not the same. He's changed the entire shape of our midfield. We are no longer pressing teams as much in their own half, we are waiting for them to approach the half way line before crowding them out. We also move it out to the wings a lot quicker and are less reliant on full backs overlapping. The performances since the League Cup game against Brighton have been very different, apart from that first half against Burnley where we weirdly went back to passing the ball around aimlessly.

Our offense has looked better because finally Sterling doesn't need to do everything by himself because of Palmer (we finally has somebody who can play chuku/Nkunku role). Faster/slower also depend on the opp. You can't just play fast.

Pressing scheme change almost every game depending on how your opp build/quality/personnel , sometimes you sit more, sometimes you press more. Imo our pressing has been good since day one (there were probably a few games where I thought we were bad but it is normal stuff )

Honestly, our performance has been good since day one. The biggest improvement has been our midfield rotation but that is kinda as expected and palmer

How often does a manager make a defensive change with a single goal lead and it bite them on the bum?

Less than minute after Reece comes on Gusto switches off.

Horrible unlucky timing, or a bad call?

I was talking to my friend about that, Reece coming on essentially changed the shape of the defensive line which caused gusto to switch off after what was an amazing defensive performance

The one thing I wanted to see was progress on the pitch and am seeing that still early in our development still areas to improve and I am sure Poch and the team will learn from this one.
Lets keep the support strong and we will be a scary proposition when everyone is fit.

I think and hope this is a glimpse of what a fully functional Poch Chelsea will do.

I think after this game teams will start to approach us differently now.
