Exactly what was expected. Young, inexperienced squad, of course they are mentally broken by throwing away the Arsenal game, and Pochettino could not fix that.

Easy to over-react, but it's clearly going to be ups and downs all season ... 

I've already lowered expectations because of the situation we find ourselves in. A top half finish, europa or winning one of the domestic cups will be a decent season as long as we have shown improvement by the second half of the season.

I've seen this sentiment a lot.

And it always makes me laugh/cry as I can't remember the last time we actually beat a decent team that played a high line.

f**king hell, looking at the rest of the football news in London, how much more depressing can this get. It's f**king embarrassing.

The worst thing about Poch is the fact Spurs sit top of the table and we're 8 points off a relegations spot. I can go without titles and silverware, I can see the club homeless when the yanks sell off the bridge, but Spurs above us in the league table... no, no, no.... This needs fixing very urgently. 

 

This is moreso to do with the club. As many have already pointed out, inexperience will bring inconsistency and naivety. 

You reap what you sow. 

Maybe we should sign Julian Alvarez so we can maybe fix some of the scoring issues, some say he's not so comfortable at Man City anymore.

The most frustrating thing for me is I thought we were tactically very good in the first half, were patiently probing and asking the right questions and Brentford could barely get out of their half, I felt had we carried on with that in the second half we'd have eventually ground them down even from behind.

Then we go behind and start forcing everything and panicking. Is it Poch that panicked, the players or a bit of both?

I'd lean the players.  You can question Poch being reactive vs proactive, but just one look at that bench and you can only sigh with despair. Who could change the game? A barely fit Reece James?

Palmer was fantastic but you only have to look at that chance towards the end where he missed a cross from James. It's such a collective issue with age and experience being the common denominator. This is what the club wanted so again, you reap what you sow. Inconsistencies and naivety will continue throughout the season. 

Only chance in finishing Europe this season is to win a domestic cup at this rate.

This honestly is my biggest problem. We've gone through two ownerships, multiple managers between them and none of them have been able to solve the goal scoring issue. Even the success with Tuchel was only because we had a really solid defence, we were good at set pieces and had goal scoring defenders. You look at the stats and the maximum goal count for a forward was 11. The Costa-Hazard team under Conte was really the last time we had a prolific striker/forwards firing on all cylinders

Sure we dont win them but we at least score and that gives us a better chance at winning than passing the ball around the box for 90 mins. Plus scraping a win in one of those games would do wonders for the confidence in this young team.

But I think focusing on Pochettino's previous employment is wide of the mark.

The fact is they were roundly mocked for employing a know nothing Aussie, who won a mickey mouse Scottish league. He then had a pantomime all summer over Harry Kane, and a bellend of an owner refusing to sell up.

Meanwhile we drop a billion on a trust the process load of bollox spouted by a clown who had the fcking temerity to come in and tell us all how our game was 20 years behind the US.

When they give us a shoeing, as well as being top of the league, they'll be 17 points ahead of us....Beginning of fcking November. 

Ripped the fcking guts out of our club and this could knock us back ten years or more, regardless of how much money these idiots keep throwing at it.

Again, why would he join a side in the bottom half of the table. If he was to leave City and was able to move in England,  surely he'd want Arsenal. With Jesus made of biscuits he'd go some way to leading them to the title. Why would he forego that opportunity to play for a mediocre side trying desperately not to get sacked into a relegation fight.

I did to a point Argo but when we started missing sitters again, 2ith Cucurella and particularly Sterling, you could see Brentford getting more entrenched and our movement slowing up until we slipped into a predictable pattern. At 25 minutes I genuinely knew and stated we'd get nothing unless we mugged a penalty somehow.

Change the manager multiple times, many different players, yet we cannot score. Why?

I don't want poch gone, I want goals. We are brittle without them. Also, just hate this feeling of seeing spurs above us. Our blue standard sits above them in the table... 

Just trying to work out why Jackson and everyone else absolutely probably bang em in on the training pitch but not on match day. Frustrating but still think the players will come good.

I said this in the matchday thread. Cucrellas chance is a sitter, as is Sterlings.  We miss them, Pinnock scores his sitter.

Is not a case of Brentford shut us down with a low block and we could not create 1 single decent chance.

Cucurella is on the middle of the goal, no Brentford player near him. If he wants he can touch it down with his right and hit it with his left before the keeper or defenders get near him. Yet he passes it back to the keeper.

Sterling a free hit he can get off before the desperate slide of Henry. On his stronger foot how does he make such a mess of it when he scored a beauty on his weaker foot at Burnley?

It should be 2 nill at the break but no. Good teams don't keep giving you sitter after sitter when they are level or infront. There is no forgiveness from sides like Brentford like there was by Burnley.

Look at the fulham game. Even though Broja missed a very good chance he was offside anyway and it would not have counted. After that boom, Mudryk and Broja in 2 minutes . Game done.

It should have been game done today but we wasted those chances.

Poch’s in game management is just obviously weak. Bringing on 11 attacking players is as bad as bringing on zero. Moving maatsen to right wing and the left back, playing two 9s, Palmer and wingers not the way. 
 

‘I am not against Poch per se,just marking his card. Picking Disasi at right back was wrong. The subs wrong. For my money moving Sterling back to the left when he played well on the right is wrong, but I can see there wasn’t much choice there.

Exactly. When it got to HT 0-0 and with us having missed the games only chances, it felt increasingly inevitable that Brentford would nick a goal on the break. Then we seem to lose our shape and struggle to figure out a way back into the game. That is exactly how our other home defeats against Forest and Villa played out.

It does not seem to take much to shatter this sides confidence. Or last years side either.

It is very easy problem to solve. 😬😬 Get player who can score goals. It is that simple. Everybody know this. 

But because everyone knows this, noone will be willing to let go their goalgetter easily/cheaply. In the end, you will end up paying 100m for a 30 year old wc st in his last year of his contract. 

 

 

 

I encourage everyone to be patient with our young/raw player. Not sure I can use young when Bellingham is tearing la liga apart at the age of 20. 

But as everyone saw recently with Mudryk. He has looked better recently. Still far way off from being ready to carry the big load but much better in term of decision making

Jackson biggest problem is physical and this will take time. We all know you can't build muscle overnight unless 💉💉💉

Madueke case, I have no clue. I think @SydneyChelsea who said that he looked rawer than Gakpo in psv and it kinda show.
