If he's checked out at only 40k then more fool him.

Think I could just about pay the leccy bills if I raked in about £9.5m after tax for dossing around for 8 years. If that makes me a fool then call me Falstaff and watch out for my feathery tickler!

Yes I know the point is if he got his head down he could earn a sh*t load more but a story like this shows how ridiculous football has become.

Too much, too young.

If he gets kicked out of Strasbourg it may just be wake up call he requires. You can have all the skill but if your not prepared to put in the hard yards on the training pitch, be disciplined in your lifestyle and be prepared to learn from your coaches, you won’t achieve your potential. It’s why some players go right to the top and maintain it whilst others end up regretting their young decision making.

Unfortunately he Is floundering even at our sister club and likely to be recalled.

Given our defence also sucks maybe also recall AFCON champion Sarr then we can send them George and Disasi in return.

Maybe they Can look half decent there and get themselves moves

I like that all the blame is conveniently placed on Paez

Did anyone think it was a great idea to send a young player to a foreign country, to an insular town, to a mediocre club that is at war with its supporters - all without support either in the dressing room or around?

That's before you even get to what actually happened, which was Chelsea telling him he'd come to London and play the in CWC only to renege on both opportunities soon after. No teenage footballer is disciplined. You need strong leaders off the field but especially on the field and in the dressing room, to hold them to account and set the standards. Paez would be in a different place had he come to England and been surrounded by Ecuadorians and Spanish-speakers.

With Buonanotte leaving the logical thing would be to recall him and let him prove himself in the limited minutes Buonanotte was getting. Let him settle in and be mentored by Caicedo.

I think these are all valid observations, albeit all the warning "lifestyle" signs were there with Paez even when he was back in Ecuador surrounded by familiar culture, friends and family.

Could just be we've bought a dud here ...

I understand and agree with most of that, but hes not the first and wont be the last to be in this situation at many many clubs, and the vast majority do ok with it. The clubs dont just abandon these lads, they have all kinds of assistants etc, they have someone on call 24/7. His situation was likely to have been difficult, but hes a professional and there needs to be a level of personal responsibility also.

Off to River Plate on loan.

Yeah I think the lad can't settle in Europe. Maybe doesn't take himself seriously.

WTF! Shades of Washington who ironically is back with our u21s after spending 6mths at Santos. I don’t see how sending a young player who enjoys the nightlife to Argentina helps, might as well loan him to a Millwall/QPR where the club can keep an eye on him.

I didn't check thoroughly but his spanish wiki page says he's been loaned for 18 months to River Plate so he'll only be back by the 27/28 season if he ever returns.

Edit: Plus, I'd be inclined to think Alonso would prefer the more professional and ready Arda Guler if it ever comes to that.

Please not another Washington

River Plate are thinking of cutting short the loan move, same issue that plagued him at Independentie Valle and Strasbourg has cropped up again. He is a poor trainer.

Hes a young lad who seems to be surrounded by wrong uns, getting him back over here and away from them would help his career get back on track so I hope we do that rather than just bin a youngster.

Yes, being around Fofana, Gusto, Neto, Garnacho, Jackson etc. will certainly be a good influence on the lad.

there was a time when a player could be a wrong un - dabble in the drink and drugs etc. - but still be able to play football.

Yeah, hes only an asset, just bin him and move on to the next big shiny thing, I mean its not like hes only a kid or anything...
