Drogba didn't score more premier league goals in a season than Jackson managed last season until he was 28. I'm sure Jackson will improve over the next half decade.

But it's not just about goals. I know when he started, Drogba could be frustrating and I hated the way he rolled about when tackled, but he always had a presence and he had an impact even when not scoring. When Jackson isn't scoring, to be honest, he's a complete waste of space. I would rather he didn't score so many but contributed.

That has to improve big time.

 

Strikers are judged on how many goals they score though. 

Don't think there is a team in the whole division that is currently happy with their no. 9 even Citeh! Hardest thing to do in football is score a goal but this gets taken for granted. They don't just roll Jackson out on a Saturday and hope for the best - he's scoring goals and the teams scoring goals and he's not going to get any better by not playing. So is being given the opportunity to improve and if this doesn't happens, then he will be replaced. Simples. Firmly behind him myself at the moment at least!

 

He had a bad game against Spurs, but we still created a sh*t tonne of chances. Nkunku is probably better In the build-up, but given the quality on the ball we get from Sancho, Enzo, and Palmer, I think Jackson's work rate wins out over Nkunku's technical ability at present. 

He has improved this season though, missing fewer sitters and releasing the ball quicker. He fluffed a few counterattacks on Sunday, so there is still a lot he can improve on. But he's not the only one that was guilty of this. 

As a team, we are developing nicely, and he still deserves to start.

Totally and completely agree WW on your appraisal of his personality traits. I think it might be a major part of the reasons why Maresca has not made any critical comments about Jackson's lacklustre performances the way he has with Madueke. I don't think he would dare. I believe Jackson wouldn't take it as constructive criticism at all.

Alas….I will add this to the long list of games when he has been piss poor this season - Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Brighton Bournemouth, forest, Palace, Villa and now spurs. For reference - a popular football rating website saw him score between 6.2 and 7.5 for all these games….(ie - he was rubbish).

He has still only played well against West Ham (9.0) and Leicester (8.1), with half decent spells against wolves (7.8) and Newcastle (7.6). That’s it. Still only scored higher than 8 twice!  And still people defend him! 

And before people say these scoring sites are flawed (I agree btw!) - this is the more generous way to appraise him, because if we were going off the eye test, then he is going to come off even worse!

Thanks for your opinion. I don't care what you think, but thanks anyway. And yes, I have been to many games, albeit not in the last few years - as I live overseas now. At my last Chelsea game (in 2022) I even got given our number 9's shirt, from said number 9 (as many on here already know).... But cheers for your baseless, incorrect, judgement.

He is rich.... and from his rubbish little flicks, attempted tricks, colourful hair, and show off dances, he appears very over confident. The confidence vs talent ratio is very lopsided.....

Frankly, if I had just put in a performance at work, as inept as he did, then I would also be hanging my head in shame.... an embarrassment to the shirt.

This is exactly why it's laughably to compare to Drogba at all. As you say, even when not scoring Drogba was often the best player on the pitch, best defender at set pieces, winning field position and being pivotal in attack, his hold up play was incredible. Jackson is literally the opposite of that, more often a liability than a positive influence.

I won't mock one of our own for being gutted about their performance, it at least shows they care, even if it's a bit much. He can surely hold on to the fact that he has made improvements this season, he just needs to keep working and working and hopefully improve on his weaknesses.

I think the way you cling to limited theoretical visits to the bridge is sounding a little desperate. A tip when you refer to our players shirt no.9 you might name the player to support your story. 

I'm not actually a Jackson fan I think he's an enigma at best but in reality isn't likely to be good enough going forward.

Your calling him a c**t is not right for someone who claims to be a Chelsea fan. I'm ok with the language as i sadly use industrial language all the time.
