Nicolas Jackson - striker

Featured Replies

A good deal if it ends in a permanent move, not a bad player, but I do not think he has the brain to turn into a great one. I actually believe he'd still be the one to lead the line as we speak had he not had those absolute stupid moments against Newcastle and at the CWC. He probably infuriated Maresca to the point he could not stand him anymore. Also Palmer's reaction when they were through on goal at the CWC made me think he did not belong in the squad anymore.

Fair comment, however if we get 14.5mill plus 5 mill (as a fine) at the end of the season, 19.5mill plus Nico next summer isnt too bad.

Can't disagree with that Tom.

Also would Bayern invest 19.5 in a bench warmer.

Don't know much about how Bayern players , do you reckon he might come good over there ?

I believe so. We cant forget Musialas injury. Chances are that Jackson will play ST and Kane will move into the CF/SS/CAM position to compensate for the lack of players and also his legs. It will definitely not be Kane or Jackson, they will both play games. Wings/ST/CF is how Jackson will be utilized.

Honestly, I think he will do great there. There is a massive gap between PL and Bundesliga. He can miss plenty while scoring plenty, games are wide open over there.

The reason no club attempted to buy him is simple, we've overpriced him. If we were ready to sell him for a reasonable fee, he'd have been gone by now.

Now, I'm not a big fan of Jackson and him not being clinical in front of goal and a bit head case with these red cards frustrated me as much as anybody else here. But he did plenty of good things, especially in his first season, and people tend to overlook them because he's a difficult person to like. He's also not at fault for the fact that he was our first choice striker for two seasons in a row, that's on sporting directors for not doing their job and giving us different options in that position.

And if being strong, physical and good in the air is good enough to lead the attack at Chelsea, you can pretty much pick dozen strikers at Championship for a little bit of money right now. I'll say it again, just because you feel Guiu wasn't given enough oppotunities doesn't mean he's good enough. If he was, they wouldn't be loaning him out to Sunderland in the first place.

What are you on about?

His loan to Sunderland was giving him Premier League minutes. You know , the same league as we play in. The loan was to a higher standard than anywhere else he might have gone to.

What I see from BBC Sport currently is this pinned.

Anyways, this is a fantastic deal. Loan to fee for sale. Bayerns attack is in shambles right now, no chance Jackson doesnt play majority of games, injury permitting. Bayern really messed up in attack this year.

Bayern attack has scored 12 goals in the last 3 games. Hardly a shambles.

Have you seen their squad in the attacking area? Kane injury and then what without Jackson?

Its Bundesliga, thats why Jackson will also score a ton there while missing a ton.

Marc Guiu became third striker at Sunderland. Well guess what…? He can be third striker here instead.

Bild reporting the mandatory buyout is an incredibly high number of games, other outlets reporting that the number of appearances is one we're confident will be achieved.

We've still got a lot of money if he flops and comes back after a season anyway.

Wish they would give us an exact number instead of being so vague.

I don't mind selling Jackson as long as we get an upgrade because I only care about us improving the team.

I just don't see Guiu as that, at least at the moment. Are you genuinely confident about Guiu as our starting striker in the league and Europe if Pedro is injured/suspended/tired because that's what we're looking at if Delap's injury is as bad as expected? Not liking Jackson is one thing but thinking Guiu will instantly do better is a very bold bet with no solid reasoning behind it. It's basically 'I hate this w**ker so anyone else is my preference'.

Abra, I don't think anybody is saying that Guiu is a certainty to be instantly better than Jackson, but, given his age, and the limited pitch time he has had, there have been signs that he could be. A 3rd striker position for Guiu this season is a bigger incentive for him than it is for Jackson. We 100% know for sure Jackson is not going to make the leap to a quality 1st choice EPL striker. But who knows with Guiu, he might do.

Hes been many things but we would have been in trouble without his goal contributions in the last couple of seasons. Yeah overall not bad.

Bild will try to make Bayern look good by reporting a high number than it actually is.

Realistically we would not have agreed to the loan if the number was not achieveable.

My worry is more what is stopping them from just not using him once he gets close to the magic number.

Memories of Ken Bates and Roy Wegerle.

“Talks resumed in the final hours and continued overnight, with Chelsea returning to negotiations in complete control and forcing Bayern into accepting a structure that guarantees Jackson’s permanent transfer, tied to appearance clauses set so low they will inevitably be met.”

Still no idea what the actual number is…
