Tosin Adarabioyo joins Chelsea

I'm still confused as to why he chose us over Newcastle.

Any serious player would rather join us over Newcastle and back themselves to try to make the cut at a big club rather than a club like Newcastle.

He couldn't find Geordie on his Duolingo app.

"Back yourself" is a piece of advice that should always - but never seems to - be accompanied by "within the realms of realism". Tosin was always going to be a mere resaleable asset to us, not a genuine long-term starter keeping out the likes of Fofana & Colwill.

He would however have been a guaranteed starter for Newcastle, following in the footsteps of nearly all their recent signings to significantly advance his stature & career.

Really??

Id say when he signed with us he fancied his chances of starting here rather than breaking into an established CB pairing at Newcastle.

I don’t think I he would get in ahead of Botman and Schar.

No footballer is going to think they aren't good enough, if you have that mentality you don't become a prem player.

He can have a year here and if he can't break into the team he can always take a step down and go start every week for a small club like Newcastle if he wants. Every single player in the world takes the opportunity to join a big club.

Very good today alongside Colwill, surprised me a lot by how good and comfortable he is on the ball. May turn out to be a good signing afterall.

I thought the same. Actually, I thought he was better than Fofana has looked at CB this season.

He looked more assured. Fofana always seems to have a wobble every game - today he was fortunate not to give away a stupid pen.

Tosin put in a flippin good performance, slinging himself around the pitch, tossing defenders aside,  hurling, flinging, and launching them out of his way .... he has thrown himself into contention to start the next game. He is not a w**ker...

Better than fofana not going to lie...

Tosin is just way more composed

It IS a good problem to have; especially since I think Wesley still has some catching up to do in terms of playing regular, competitive matches after being out so long.

Whether Tosin is playing better individually seems beside the point: the defense as a whole looks better when he is on the field.

Agreed, his best performance for us so far. I liked him at Fulham, but thought he looked a bit naff in his first two starts (admittedly in our disjointed ECL team). Very good today.

Thought he'd looked crap in all his appearances to date, really shone yesterday. Probably the best player in the back line and better than any Fofana performance i can remember this season. Only West Ham so we'll have to see how he gets on going forward but very exciting.

He was world class when he came on against Bournemouth, aside from one error; people just disregarded how much better he was than Fofana due to Disasi-disaster class at RB and Fofana having to deal with that prior to the change. On the balance of things, Tosin looks the real deal, Fofana is and always will be fragile; so the longer term vision is better if we can have a Colwill-Tosin connection. Nkunku, James, Fofana and Lavia will forever have an asterisks over their names.

Best CB performance of the season from him today. Out of any of our CBs I mean.

Great statement, and agree. He is growing in confidence - maybe quite the player there with a run of games to establish himself.
