I’m hearing rumours my prayers will shortly be answered. Thank you god, 2026 is going to be a great year

I'm no fan of Maresca and never taken to him from the start, but I don't have much optimism things will be better after he's gone.

Eghbali and the sporting directors are the real problem here. Unless something changes on that front, expect more of the same going forward.

how many positions do Chelsea actually have a clearly better player?

Not “higher ceiling”, not “£60m potential”, not “he’ll be elite in 3 years”. Better now. If the alternative is an 18-year-old who isn’t ready, the pitch doesn’t care. This Bournemouth side sold most of their back four, lost their GK, have had injuries all season — and we still couldn’t beat them home or away. Expecting a new manager to suddenly fix all of this overnight is just unrealistic.

You browse this forum and "Enzo is sh*t" is not an uncommon opinion; so, if our #8 is sh*t, then we are fair game. If our center D is lacking, that also makes us fair game. If our better players are on the young side, well that makes us fair game too.

Fair points. However, I will say that any screams of players being sh*t are devoid of larger system-tactical context. I have to remind myself of this as well before my head explodes. Gusto hasn't looked great, but we are asking a flying fullback to drift into midfield. Hato is not a CB. James can do a great job anywhere but use him at CB or CM for a time and you'll notice the little inefficiencies. Enzo's been poor for some time, but put a proper midfield structure (any two of Caicedo,Lavia, Santos, Essugo) behind him and who knows. Similarly, because of the midfield structure, Palmer drops deeper and deeper to try to impact the game - someone who was the best right-sided attacker in the league in his debut season and who destroyed PSG from that very position.

I don't think a new manager would magically fix everything but Enzo has needed to adapt for some time and simply hasn't.

I do not believe for one second that the directors are picking the team on a "keeping up the value" principal. It's just another rumour that is propagated by the people who do not like the owners and it just suits their narrative.

I couldn't be happier that our pleasure hoover of a manager is going to be sacked, justifiably in my opinion for serving up negative "control of the game" football that doesn't actually control it at all, its just negative, boring sh*te .. f**king good riddance.

Are people taking the piss about Maresca not picking teams, no control of subs, position is etc? Surely no really believes all that absolute bullsh*t about him being told to do it, he did exactly the same thing at Leicester and there fans hated him for it. Or was he forced to do it there too?

Don't be so f**king ridiculous.

This.

Rotated the f**k out of his team at Leicester too.

We all know the writing is on the wall for Maresca, but the next appointment is going to show exactly what the board's intentions are. If Rosenior is appointed I think that basically confirms this lot are not in it for trophies.

They have already proven that they can run up a huge debt, fail to qualify for the CL, fail to secure long term FOS sponsorship, fail to increase gate revenue or stadium expansion, and yet still increase the overall net asset value of their investment. Sporting mediocrity is fine, its not affecting their objectives.

So

It looks like Enzo was in fact NOT responsible for all the rotations weird decisions etc. they were in fact firced on him to keep the players value up.

Egbahli seems to be the bad boy here along with his SD clowns

Woke up early so I’ve been trawling comments articles you tube etc

No way to run a club and tbh IF it’s true I don’t blame him for walking

This makes zero sense.

Is there a credible source for this or it is just another stick to beat the owners with and take the blame off Maresca?

Sporting mediocrity loses a lot of money though you'd think

Maresca has messed with team selection formation tactics and everything else's yet still falls out with the owners/ directors, so it must be all on him and therefore will be fine when the new manager comes in. I think not.

Did he though ?

This looks pretty settled to me in the context of a long season, injuries etc ? 6 players starting 40+ league games ... 2 more in the 30's ...

It's certainly much less rotation than we had in our first Mourinho title-winning season LOL when only 5 players started more than 30 PL games 😎

Personally I don't find it difficult to believe that the owners are interfering, especially considering what we already saw happen to Tuchel and Pochettino. What other owners have an in depth match review immediately after the game ? It's micro-management gone mad !!

Nope.

He’s just a twat.

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca defends decision to heavily rotate team

I am a ‘Maresca out’ but only due to the results. You can put up with the style of play when the results are coming but when they stop coming and the performances are turgid then there’s only one thing that’s going to improve it and it’s always changing the manager. I think Maresca will be a good manager elsewhere and he’s a very likeable bloke but when you start attacking/insulting the higher ups then there’s only one outcome.

Arsenal had MORE players on international duty then Chelsea, but Arteta played his strongest side in both games and won them both, Maresca needs to learn this but will he? I doubt it AND this is the reason we wont win a major trophy with him in charge

DONT BET ON IT

The overall net asset value has increased ? If it has, it's probably only because they've put wild valuations on their player pool in the accounts, based on the high prices they have paid rather than the true value of the players.

Proof of the pudding is what price any potential new owner will pay for the club down the line. If they have any aptitude for due diligence there surely won't be any benefit to Clearlake.

In my view, Roman absolutely fleeced this lot of muppets to get £2.5 billion, and good on him. Jokes on you Wyss ...

That's one game out of the 46 then ... LOL. He's clearly guilty as charged 😂

Let's see what changes we see with a new manager. I'll bet that the rotation will continue, as will the post-game inquisitions ...

It was a regular theme for Leicester under Maresca. The Leicester fan who always pops up here stated rotation was an issue at Leicester too, among other familiar things.

It becomes increasingly difficult to predict the XI and Maresca has shown he is prepared to chop and change, to rest and rotate, and even play some players in unfamiliar positions.

I'm more inclined to believe he is just a vastly inexperienced manager who doesn't know how to manage a squad vs the ownership/directors forcing him to rotate his players....

An indication of price expectations versus actual sale price might be in some way linked to their expectations for a shirt sponsor or players like Broja and future sales like Gittens and the like.

Really expected to wake up to the news he’d been booted. Slightly gutted in that respect but the sooner the better.

No Charisma or Charm

No Tactical Flexibility or in game management

No Hair Follicles.

He can try his hardest to spin some PR about forced rotations etc but at the end of the day he submits the final team sheet no one else, if he doesn’t have the Cahonas to put his name to what he’s ’coached’ all week and game planned for then it says a lot about the man.

Probably the worst manager we’ve had since AVB when you look at the bigger picture.
