Sigh

That better be total package with a sh*t ton of add ons.

I think it will be something like 30m upfront and the rest in bonuses which is still a good deal.

Players like Smith Rowe and Omari Hutchinson have gone for similar prices and done less so think some people need to apply context.

The context being he is a very disruptive c*** to have in the squad. Is that the context we should apply?

Being able to pay 50mill euros for Garnacho and 50mill euros for Fermin but cannot sign simons because of nkunku?

Could be truth in us demanding they sign nkunku. Spurs may well snap up simons, would be a good signing for them.

This is the only fair concern I’ve seen raised and even then we don’t really know the full story.

Don’t want him and from what I have read in the media he seems like a pain but as the media can be vengeful and nasty (see how they treated Raheem), if he signs then I will support him.

I hope fans don’t boo him like they did Jorginho Cucu etc….

There’s no doubt that what we hear from Utd but we were told the same about Sancho yet nothing came out from Chelsea about Sancho.

I am undecided if this is a good or bad deal will just have to judge on what we see.

One final thing isn’t it odd that Utd have so many players that are supposedly disruptive ?

Even ourselves paying 60m for Gittens, puts this deal into perspective. Garnacho at least is PL experienced. None of us know if he is disruptive, we have apparently done a due diligence test. Wouldn’t be my first choice but if he shows his initial promise, he could be a snip. Our ugliest player ever? Move over Doug

This is the first time I've even seen what this guy looks like.

But that is as it should be. He's an U18 lad that we got from Palace and is already included in our U21s.

It's only nowadays that there is unquenchable desire of the media to feed this narrative of the billions that we are spending when in reality a number of these players are truly youth academy youngsters.

Agreed. We do not know. But the concerns are real. The stories that come out of Man U are that he not only had arguments etc. with the manager but also with his teammates and on more than one occasion. Lots of issues. He also antagonised the fans.

Anyways. So he becomes a Chelsea player and we give him a chance. That is what we do.

I’m far from convinced by Gittens so I’m pleased the club are at least bringing in someone else who is at least premier league proven and somewhat decent.

Same boring pro-arguments:

“When he gets out of United he’ll be free and play better” = He’s been garbage for Argentina when given a go. Sancho got his ‘freedom’ and was bang average, Anthony racked up some ok stats against la liga famers and went missing in the Europa league final. McTominay is simply in the perfect league and setup for him to flourish. Maresca is not a miracle worker, who has he improved from scratch?

“We’ll be able to sell him for profit” = He won’t accept a Saudi move like Felix. United have no interest, what makes you think we’ll garner more after INCREASING his wages!

“There’s a player in there” = 85 shots, 6 goals. 38 games, 2 assists. No football IQ, disruptive influence.

And that effing vape, he has it with him at all times, I can't be healthy for a pro footballer

To combine both your first and last point, even if Garnacho does not improve and maintains his current output of 10 g/a in the league this is still equal and actually better in some cases than the wingers we currently have and had previously. We've paid £60m for wingers that aren't much better.

Once again, United had multiple interests they were just holding out for a bigger fee and the ones that did bid Garnacho just turned down.

My only worry is the wages, given that he only wants us and has backed himself into a corner then we should be able to give him less wages than Bayern or Napoli would have had to. I'll be disappointed if I see the club giving him 100k, we can easily get him tied down to around the same wages Gittens is on like 80-90k. Having him below 100k will be important for being able to resell him if he does flop.

We have literally just signed this lad who everybody is raving about. Indeed from what little i have seen he does indeed look pretty good and may well progress through to the first team. 18 yo playing in the U21 having signed him from Palace. What story did we give to the lad to convince him to sign for us when a number of other clubs were after him?

Jesse Derry

If I am being honest, I don't think Derry joined because he thinks he has a great chance of making it in the first team, but more to do with the opportunities we provide, even if it away from the team. Better facilities also. What Dastan Satpaev said is a good example:

"Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s the best option, but I think Chelsea knows how to work with young players.

"The club really invests in them. Even if it comes to a loan, they can find a good club for me. Of course, I’ll try to establish myself in the first team at Chelsea and become a leader there"

I think that says it all. He will hope to make it here, but chances are even if he doesn't then he will get a good move to another team.

So we might miss out on Xavi and Fermen Lopez may still turn us down. But at least we know that the Garnacho signing remains on course

Almost as if it was by design all the way along
