Really it is backwards that the europa league final is tonight and not this game.

You should build upto your best trophy. So conference first, then europa and lastly the CL.

As maresca rightly pointed out the PL helped both Spurs and United out, LA liga has helped helped out betis as they play on Friday but have not helped us out. Bias.

Betis are playing their last game this Friday, so they’ll have two more days of rest.

Not just two more days of rest, but I doubt their best players will even play that game because Betis have already qualified for next season's Europa league. They are playing for the trophy, nothing else.

Probably because the Conference trophy is seen as the inferior trophy to Europa. Also, the Notts Forest game is the end of the season fixture so maybe there is less leeway to move it. Maybe it could have been moved to Friday, but wouldn't that mean a headache for TV rights?

Aye inferior trophy goes on first, build up to the best.

Not to bring any controversy also to this thread (😲) but the narrative among some fans and podcasters (Chelsea journos) around the Conference League was we shouldn't be in it because we are mighty Chelsea and this competition is full of bums and second rate teams (which is true on a large scale) we end up facing a respectable side who could also win it. Betis is a good side with a good manager. It is not given we take this. Suddenly it is a respectable cup to win? No? Yes? Make up your mind.

To this young side need points of success in this project. We need to take steps and to me this is perfect for it. If we were at Europa we could have stumbled on the way easily.

Being in conference league is not a problem. We finished 6th last season and it mean we are in conference league.

But it is not a respectable cup for us.

Only had two reasons to care about this competition. Young players getting minutes and squad players doing likewise.

I feel the same way now. Regardless of it being a final against the second decent side we have played (FC Copenhagen the first).

So I would like to see the same pool of players used for the starting 11 as played most gamed in this competition.

Jorgensen

Acheampong

Tosin

Badiashile

Cucurella

James

KDH

Sancho

Walsh

George

Neto

Is this on tv I don’t have to pay for anywhere or am I not watching?

And I happen to be in London on Wednesday, any tips where I might watch in the area around the Bridge? I noticed that places like Frankie's and Butcher's Hook require a reservation and I'm not sure I want to go that route being on my own.

Is that Irish pub still there across Fulham Broadway tube station? I get 'temporarily closed' as current status.

@Valerie Might be worth trying The Goose in the North End Road. About a ten minute walk from the Bridge. Haven't been in there for a while but it shows football.

I'm not sure about the Irish pub across from the station. Haven't been in there for years.

This match is not pub worthy. It’s barely even tv worthy.

No problems with the schedule for this game and the PL not moving our game. This trophy shouldn't even exist in the first place... What comes next in the hierarchy? Uefa bottom feeder league? Uefa top 10 super league? Barely Relegated European cup?

Feels a bit like a match for bronze medal, no one really cares about the result unless it's a major underdog putting a fight, but will watch nevertheless if there's nothing better on TV.

Whilst we have turned our noses up at this competition throughout this season, having now qualified for the CL I think this match takes on more significance now.

In the same way that Jose placed so much importance on winning the league Cup because of the springboard effect for confidence, it feels the same now. He has to win this and get some silverware. Hopefully we can win with some style.

Lavia not being available means Enzo will undoubtedly start however id rather out KDH beside Caciedo.

Jackson will start which should see Sancho benched.

Maresca spoke about the need for some rotations due to the Forest game for this one.

For sure Jackson is the most likely in, probably for sancho. Chalobah, KDH, George and Gusto also plausible, with Tosin, Enzo or Caicedo, Madueke or Neto and James missing out.

Probably fair to say this game means a lot more to real betis than it does to us.

How we cope with that will be key.

Hopefully players don't look down on the Conference League. Silverware is better than no silverware. I don't feel we're too big for this and I'd rather not add to our recent stash of runners up medals. Any player who feels too good for this and won't run through a brick wall for a cup can f**k off for all I care.
