April 23Apr 23 I want someone to come in and pull this squad together and win some a lot of games. I dont want to see the team being selected by committee- an inexperienced committee at that.We are embarrassing ourselves week in week out. Diego Simeone could do it.

Oh wait....think they've tried that..Maybe it's time for both formulas to be binned & experience on both be brought in.......Callum could do with some help too for rest of season..... there's one down with the academy!!..😲 Edited April 23Apr 23 by saran75
April 23Apr 23 Beggars can’t be choosers!!!We are in no position or have no right to a top quality manager when the clowns are still in charge.I give zero f**ks who is the manager because those interfering twats are still there.

I beg you keep the same energy for the next few managers cause with how it's looking right now we aren't doing that for a while. Asked for a CB and got given Garnacho. How did Liam do? How will we end the season? We're back to where we were when Poch left. These sporting directors have blood on their hands, it's as simple as that.
April 23Apr 23 Maresca was sh*t, the fact we managed to downgrade him with LR was staggering.Where we go from here god knows. It depends what job is on offer as everyone has said, under the right conditions it’s a top job for any manager. Under these conditions nobody worth it will go near it.Not holding my breath they get it right. I mean the owners. Get rid of SD’s and get in a real manager it’s the only way we move forward.

April 23Apr 23 Cannot believe I am saying this, but I can see Gary O'Neil in our future. Really hope not but I wouldn't put it past this board... If we had anything about us, we'd go all in for Enrique this summer. They will not do that, and we'll end up with some nobody with a "point to prove" again.
April 23Apr 23 This Austrian/Saudi fella sounds like a classic "clever" move from our sporting directors, ...nip in under the radar, get him on the cheap, no brainer.....and surprise surprise .........he will turn out to be totally useless. 😂Midas' brown touch will strike again ! April 23Apr 23 I’m not convinced by any of the names currently being suggested to be honest. They all seem abit meh or unproven. And whoever gets the job is going to have to work miracles with this squad. There’s some good players but not enough to challenge the elite teams on a consistent basis.

Utd, possibly City and Liverpool might all be looking for managers. Maybe Arsenal too if they win nothing.
April 23Apr 23 Just give the keys to Mcfarlane, he seems to know his stuff.. ‘checks notes’…. Mourinho & Tuchel are not elite. Duly noted.

Maybe Arsenal too if they win nothing. The most appealing thing about Enrique is that he is so determined to succeed outside Guardiola's shadow, he's become the anti-Pep. If Guardiola and Xavi are the elder and younger siblings, Enrique is the middle child. Enrique is very much the forgotten son of Barcelona and even to this day there are many Barcelona fans who completely underrate the impact he had during his time there, instead ascribing more credit to Messi/Suarez/Neymar than they deserve and forgetting who built that platform. Guardiola's Barcelona faced some of the weakest Real Madrid teams and even though Mourinho raised the level considerably towards the end, it merely the foundation for Ancelotti/Zidane creating unquestionably the best Real Madrid team in history. Enrique beat that team to the league twice, and only missed out by 3 points in his last year, and not mention he had considerably harder opponents to deal with in the Champions League - peak Bayern, Dortmund, Real Madrid, PSG as well Atletico, City and ourselves not that far behind - whereas Pep's only real challenge was...us.On the flipside, he's also a massive prick, as evidenced by what happened after the CWC final with Joao Pedro. Although arguably we could use a bit of that fight right now. A bit like Conte, it's a matter of time before he burns out and clashes with the hierarchy. Again, not necessarily a bad thing given who the 'hierarchy' is in this place.

Jose Mk1 was regularly called out as being defensive. I am fine with that if it suits the players we have. What I do not want is for us to play possession football, at walking pace, knocking it around lazily between our cb's - particularly when it has been proven time and again that it doesnt suit our team or players. I am not historically a performance over results person - but I have been clear, that I am willing to take short term pain on results, if we see clear evidence of an evolution (for the better) of how we play football. I have said this since Potter. Take this last run of 5 games. If we had of been really having a go, moving the ball fast, hustling and harrying at pace, industrious, creating and scoring, but happened to lose all 5 because of the lads making a mistake, or overcomitting going forward - then I would have been fine with both the loss and with Liam staying. But we were not. We have been going backwards - all season since the CWC. There was no positive evolution of how we play under Maresca or Liam (or poch before him). Potter showed glimpses towards the end (Dortmund, Milan, Villa), Maresca showed a couple of glipses (PSG, Barca), and Liam had 1 game where we looked good (Villa). But these are too inconsistent to be called progress.
April 24Apr 24 I think it is clear what is needed to galvanise the group if, indeed, that is the goal.Saying that an experienced, respected coach is wanted by the club to manage the dressing room egos, is just meaningless soundbites from the clubs hierarchy. The strategy implemented by our SDs is so miscalculated and error strewn that we have flown through 5 manages in four years, seen results and performances plummet and caused a virtual mutiny in the dressing room. Yet no accountability. We do need a name that commands respect but that can only happen in an environment that the individual would be willing to work.Xabi Alonso, for example, has been mentioned and regardless of the Liverpool links, could be a good appointment. But for that to have any real prospect of occurring the club need to bomb the current SDs, poach Simon Rolfes, set clear rules of etiquette regarding dressing room access, input and collaboration regarding player health and fitness schedules and let the managing work closely with the single SD and to complete managerial control of footballing matters.I think that could be successful and could help to retain to nucleus of a decent side from this group of players. They then need to be coached to run, relentlessly and inject passion and intensity. We have more chance of locating Hitler's other ball than this occurring, unfortunately
