Gavin Peacock's descent into Christian fundamentalism continues:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/gavin-peacock-former-premier-league-star-turned-pastor-posts-tweets-stating-wives-should-submit-and-encourage-husbands-leadership-9960593.html

He came out with this on Twitter:

Wives: one of the primary ways you are to respect your husband is by gladly submitting to and encouraging his leadership.

God's divine design for marriage in male headship and female submission is complementary not competitive.

Absolutely abhorrent, but taken straight out of Ephesians:

Ephesians 5:22-24
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

I can't help but wonder just how much of the world's discrimination St Paul is responsible for...

The comments on the article are something else too...

Juve has won an appeal which means they don't have to pay a portion of  18 million euros for Adrian Mutu. Have to confess that I'd forgotten all about the compensation cost.

Juventus have won an appeal that means they will not have to pay compensation to Chelsea for former striker Adrian Mutu.

The Romanian attacker had his contract cancelled by the Blues in 2004 after testing positive for cocaine and was subsequently hit with a seven-month ban.

Mutu signed for Serie A champions Juventus upon his return to action - via Livorno, who acted as an intermediary in the deal.

Chelsea subsequently sought €14 million in compensation, which they were granted by a Fifa dispute panel following a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Mutu was ordered to pay the bulk of the sum, but Juve were also told they had to contribute a portion of that figure after he joined the club. The decision was immediately appealed and Juve have now stated that their claim has been upheld.

"Juventus announce that the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne has notified us of the decision made by the arbitrators in the dispute that pitted Chelsea against Juventus regarding the signing of Adrian Mutu," a statement from Juventus read.

"The arbitrators have completely dismissed the demands made by Chelsea, ordering them [Chelsea] to pay the legal costs of the case.

"This ruling has no effect on the financial balance of Juventus because the club, fully aware of being in the right, chose not to allow for any risk in funds over the developing litigation."

Mutu was later sold by Juve to side Fiorentina for a fee reported to be in the region of €6millon.

Scott Sinclair has gone to Villa on loan, has the possibility of being made permanent at the end of the season:

Good move for him I think, he will finally get an opportunity to be a first team player and potentially to stand out in that horrendous Villa forward line.

He tried that at West Brom last season, and couldnt even get a game.

True, although as bad as West Brom were last year I think Villa is yet another step down in terms of footballing quality. If he doesn't get playing time at Villa (bear in mind this is a team for whom Charles N'Zogbia has 16 appearances in the league this season), then he is really going to have to turn to the Championship in order to find his feet.

There's a good piece in the Sun today about Ken Bates. He says Lampard was the best £11m we ever spent (hard to argue), hopes he'll get a good reception on Saturday, and that he owns a shirt signed by Lampard, who wrote 'thanks for bringing me to a proper club'!

He also claims Jose is partly responsible for the poor atmosphere he complains about, as it was him who moved the away fans from the East Stand to the Shed.

Pretty accurate. I don't think Lampard will get a rapturous reception tomorrow like he did in the away game, due to what's happened since. I think it'll be polite applause. Hope no one boos.
