i understand torres got a lot pressure to prove himself , fingers crossed he will shine through and show us , i have faith in him

Not the only poor performer from last night but that can no longer be used as an excuse. Think it's best for everyone if torres is only used in europa league and in cameos domestically when in need of a goal alongside ba.

Shame that it hasn't worked out but it is time for both club and player to move on. Not much else needs to be said!

He's had two years of support. Everyone I know wanted him to score goals for fun but last night was enough for me. He just looked bored and there for the dollar. I've heard people moaning about his lack of service but after 2 years of players giving it to that tool and watching him screw it up can you blame them?

As for the booing - the relationship between club and fans all started going to sh*t after the Board tried to fix the CPO deal. Since then with Robbie going and the arrival of the FSW its just got worse. Look at what happened when Bruce Buck came out.. Nothing will change that until the FSW has left.

Roman we know Jesus was resurrected, but you'll never do the same with Torres so just give up and buy us a real striker or if it's a question of money let Ba or Feruz play.

Wow it couldn't of went in the other Torres thread? I'm tired of the amount of stick he gets on here. Some people on this forum would love nothing more than to watch Torres fail.

It was a sad night at the Bridge. The game passed Torres by. The chants for Ba and the boos for Torres told the whole story. It was the end result of what happens when a billionaire owner decides to sign a player for an enormous amount of money without consulting his manager.

The booing is taking its toll. Mentally Torres must be going through hell. I pity him and his lovely family. His confidence appears totally shattered. The longer this goes on the more it will turn into complete resentment and will eventually spill over.

To watch him is to witness a player who is showing signs of stress and lack of confidence. He now surely knows he has made a huge mistake in coming to the Bridge and sees no light at the end of the tunnel.

God only knows what the future has in store for him!

Yes all those Torres supporters are just ridiculous! FFS jump off a bridge already, its doing my head in!

Or maybe you mean Rafael Benitez, or Roman Abramovich. If so you can contact them here;

Please let us all know what they say, and put in a good word for starting Ba while youre at it.

Torres deserves every criticism period. No one has any right to criticize any of the fans who pay to go out there and support our chelsea and see bullsh*t from torres almost all the time. The board seem to want to make torres score at the cost of our team, if booing him finally make them stop playing torres and we start winning why not??

Torres lovers can go and suck his d**k for all i care, he doesnt play like he gives a f**k about this club. :fighting0019:

Glad to see you've brought something insightful to the discussion.

The reason he's so divisive at the minute, is that when some supporters don't notice Torres in a game, they think "he hasn't done anything particularly bad" and don't understand the stick he gets. A few people said that Mata was worse than Torres yesterday. His finishing was, indeed, poor but his overall contribution to the team was much greater than Torres'. He still linked our play and got himself into dangerous positions.

There are some forwards who get very involved in the game - strikers like Aguero, Tevez, Rooney, RVP, Drogba, Suarez etc. will get involved be it by taking the ball past defenders, holding up the ball, linking the play or playing in their team-mates. (RVP these days does it less as his team relies on him scoring the goals, but he's capable of playing this role)

Forwards who don't do the above tend to be pure goalscorers - Falcao, Huntelaar, Higuain, Hernandez etc. they may do some of the things the above forwards do, but not as well. They can pass, occasionally beat a man etc. but their contribution to the general play is far lesser than the previous group. They justify their inclusion in the team by scoring goals in situations other players wouldn't, often when it looks like they have been passengers in the game.

Torres has never been the first type of forward, he was the second type, able to get on the end of chances created by Starfish Stevie and Alonso, or able to pressure defenders into mistakes. Often at Liverpool he would be anonymous for 90 mins but then pop up with a goal.

He plays like the second type of striker without scoring the goals in tight situations, the goals which ordinary players don't score, which justify their inclusion in the team. Hernandez, for example, has ridiculous reflexes, fantastic movement + positioning and is a good finisher. We all know about Falcao - excellent movement, ridiculous finishing plus great strength. What set Torres apart was his burst of pace and finishing. We all know about his pace, and his finishing seems to have suffered too.

This is why I don't think he's worth keeping in the team. His general play isn't good enough, and he doesn't score the goals which justify him being a passenger. People will point to his 14 goals, but how many of those goals are ones which an ordinary striker wouldn't score? I can think of 3 at most (Arsenal, Sunderland, Villa). All of the others are ones which could be easily scored by a striker who is also able to contribute more to the general play.

And THAT is why many of us think he's sh*t when he's not noticeable in a game - not because he's made mistakes on the ball, but because he doesn't contribute enough to the team to justify being there.

Newcastle?

And Falcao is very noticeable on the pitch, so he should be in the first paragraph of players you stated, not the second, but apart from that I agree on what you say, its weird in a way as Torres at Atleti was more of a striker who was involved in the entire play

Surely last night must have been some sort of wake up call for the board/Abramovich.

Demba Ba did in ten minutes what Torres couldn't do in 80. Ba is so much more capable at the moment you can barely even compare the two and quite frankly it was embarrassing that we were deperate for a goal and that the FSW left it untill 80 minutes to make the change.

The fact Torres got booed off is fairly significant I would say- I can only really see it getting worse from this point on. I don't agree with the booing at all but every Chelsea fan watching last night would have reached boiling point with the frustration forced upon us by the FSW refusing to make the blindingly obvious change that was needed.

Torres has no future at Chelsea, the sooner Abramovich accepts this the better and we can all move on.

I think that if Ba starts all games from now on the club will obviously benefit and the fans won't resent Torres.

If Torres continues to start games then the club will suffer and the inevitable resentment towards Torres could grow into something rather ugly that I don't think I will have seen before at Chelsea.

A really good post!

U never know, this may finally be the turning point because I suspect 'more of the same' from Torres will no longer be tolerated from a significant chunk of stadium supporters?

I feel like he needs a moment where he comes off the bench and scores a winner or something. Maybe saturday?

But he scored against Barcelona as a sub and that didn't improve him. It's just not going to happen, ever, you are living in denial.

The moment the matchday fans turn on a player it's over, last night signalled the death knell for Torres at Chelsea.

I still don't believe the saga is over yet,and it may still turn nasty with the fans & Roman if the situation continues to fester (although i really hope not).

I really feel for him, but after Weds enough is enough.

If anything shattered his confidence, it was probably match after match of poor performances. Unless Fernando possesses the self-awareness of a brick wall, he'd surely be devoid of confidence even if he was never booed. To watch him is to witness a player devoid of the basic physical abilities that allowed him to dominate at Liverpool. The fact that he's such a fragile little princess mentally, on top of his diminished skills, is too much to overcome.

I don't agree that he made a huge mistake coming to the Bridge, though. All he needs to do is check this bank account. Not only that, but if he had played this poorly on a team where he wasn't earning £170,000, he'd have been shipped off to Uzbekistan or somewhere where he could capitalize on his name value and play a level of competition he's actually capable of performing against. Such a shame there's no silver lining like that for the fans who have watched such a pathetic player contribute so little whilst earning so much for so long. He finally starts to get some legitimate abuse from the fans and the pity party starts, it seems. Won't anyone think of his "lovely" family?

Excellent post!

No doubt last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. It was obvious Torres has lost it.

How on earth will the club move on a high profile knackered player?

HIs confidence is shattered and all the money in the world won't change that.

Would a return to Liverpool be good or bad for him?

I think he is finished at the top level in football now. He needs to be moved on and forgotten about at our football club.
