He was good last night.

I'm ok with justified criticism but people here are way OTT as far as Torres goes and it's sad to see.

Agreed i thought he was pretty good too, shame Mata and Moses didnt pass otherwise he could of had 2 goals.

Just finished watching my recording of the match, thought he looked pretty decent.

Agreed with the majority on the cut backs, he was positioned well and should really have been picked out on both occasions. Perhaps he was being greedy on the Moses one, cutting into a space an AM would likely be (and Hazard was) running into, but he went to the best position to give him a chance to score. I'm never going to blame a striker for being a bit greedy. Particularly Torres, who needs that aspect of his game back.

I'd say a promising performance.

Torres will have his best season in Chelsea shirt this season....yet it will still not be enough to satisfy anyone.

He really looks good as a sub on but at 60 min in, other players are fatigued. Lets see how he does when the players are fresh.

This is starting to be just like last summer all over again.

August - Its a new season and Torres is going to be better this season you just watch!

May - Torres was sh*t again, why didnt we buy another striker last summer?

Boom bust cycle in player form? Liverpool is contagious, to those not immunised with common sense.

Arrggh!! I feel a rant coming on about the use of words like "friend" and "mate" when the person using said words obviously has no friendly feelings towards his/her interlocutor!

If we don't get Rooney, Torres will be the first choice next season, that's for sure. No matter how much I like Lukaku and expect him to be world class forward soon, I cannot believe certain people in here actually expect a 20 year old to take all the pressure on him and lead the team through Premier League and Champions League. Even worse, expecting Jose to put all that pressure on a 20 year old. Not gonna happen.

I wouldn't say that is for sure at all. Not by a long shot in fact.

It will be interesting but I personally think Lukaku will start ahead of Torres in the pecking order, with an element of rotation coming into play as the season kicks on and the games come thick & fast.

I cant believe I am saying this, but does anyone believe it would be better to have two threads about this player?

One for actual news (like the above article on shirt sales) and one in which his form is debated (complete with all the facepalming, ranting, vendetta posts, and tired one-liners) so that everyone who really cant help but revert to their standard position can just hang out there and argue?

Ahh who am I kidding

Nah, every thread ends up being about Torres anyway so what's the point?

Westway, the best thing is the new season to start already. We all have way too much time on our hands.

I'd love if torres just hit the net for fun but I'm not sure Jose is that special. If torres hasn't performed he will be sold in January. I hope he proves us all wrong

Who is going to buy him though? An out of form striker isn't very alluring...

It's been said before but Chelsea will want some sort of return on the amount they spent on him, and if his wages are as large as has been reported there's a limited number of clubs that will be able to afford that...

The club will just have to swallow their pride and take a loss. For me it was worth 50million for he's goal in the camp nou.

And winning that corner in Munich - you know a striker is crap when one of the most memorable things he's done for you is getting a corner which led to a goal :laugh2:

But I still don't see anyone actually wanting to sign him even if we're giving him away for free - I think that's why I've always got hope that he'll come good because I don't think he's ever going...
