EDIT - Fee for torres is apparenlty €12.5m but we only bank €5m due to the payout on his wages which represents the two year differential between CFC and AC Milan wage packets.

cavani rumour is rearing its ugly head again. the eternal troll that is @tancredipalmeri somehow managed to link a meeting between Perez and PSG to cavani signing for chelsea and falcao going to madrid

that guy is an actual dick.

the somewhat more reliable @dimarzio saying we are definitely getting destro

BREAKING: Torres has been spotted arriving in Rome ahead of his move to Italy, sounds about right, he was aiming for Milan.

Source? Chelsea officials also talking to AS Roma about Destro perhaps?

Seriously lol

Torres was on the decline long before we turned up.

He was also buggered (metaphorically speaking) by the FSW who rushed him back from injury. Liverpool couldn't sort his knee problems out - that is something the medical team at Chelsea has achieved with him.

Bye Torres.

Although you were sh*t for us, you had some good moments. Your determination and grit was dearly noted. However, you are now just a wage whore. You've clearly lost your love for Football.

That would be a bloody great deal.

I don't know where all this Torres tried his best is coming from, because last season he had plenty of good players around him but he never f**king moved. He was always stood on the edge of the box and never bothered to get in position, he was to busy sulking and being the defenders bitch. At times it was really frustrating, he may of worked hard in some games but he certainly didn't put in 100% effort all the time, especially on his attacking rate.

He really wasn't.

The 6 months before he moved here he was in major decline if you remember. Ever since he came home that summer with Spain it was obvious something was wrong.

It was a huge gamble and it was silly to give a 5 year deal like that to any player let alone one who was struggling for form.

Thankfully we seem to have learned our lesson.

I  wouldn't have said at the time his signing a 'massive gamble' by the club.

I would have said there were some warning signs, i.e. his ongoing injury troubles and a terrible world cup but there was certainly nothing to suggest we would see what can only be described as one of  the worst falls from grace the Premiership has ever seen in Fernando Torres.

His form at the world cup was poor, granted, but international form alone would never be used to dismiss a player who has been performing at his level prior to it (much like Diego Costa was poor at this world cup). Torres had scored 22 in 32 in the domestic season before the 2010 world cup.

His form in his 3 full seasons at Liverpool was in fact outstanding and even in his half season in 2010 where people generally  say he was terrible he still scored 9 in 26 including a performance against us at Anfield which was arguably more impressive than any he has ever turned out in a Chelsea shirt. He may well have had some bad games that season but his form and goal scoring record was far, far better than any half season he has had for us.

The fee was certainly high regardless of the above but I don't agree the signing itself was a gamble. At the age he was at the time (26) and with his form proven in the Premiership  there was every reason to fully believe he would rediscover his best form and play at that level for a good three/four years.

Of course, that didn't happen and in hindsight the transfer has been a catastrophic failure but I genuinely don't think the club were foolish to want to sign him when they did. The lessons for me would be not to pay a transfer fee that exceeded  current market value  to the extent it did and to be very wary of dishing out 5 and a half year contracts at £175/week, whoever the player is.

I am not trying to 'dig you out' by the way RFC_CFC mate, just used your post as a starting point for my rant; I know there are many that fully share your opinion.

One of the best reasoned posts on here. I hope the club (i.e Abramovic) learn from the experience of Torres and Sheva. They have wasted vast amounts of cash on two players the managers at the time were not set on, were at the peak of their abilities and were depreciating assets, if there ever were such a thing in football. Real and Barcelona can keep up with this model because they dont give a f**k about their players and will move Galaticos on like its nothing and they have lopsided TV Revenue which mean they can waste  £56 million on Kaka and not care.

This is not a model that works anywhere else in the footballing world. We need proper management by footballing people who can assess player by more than stats and figures. Hopefully Mourinho stays around long enough to manage this. If we dont learn from this situation then we dont deserve anything less than Torres and his £100 million return of 45 Goals in 3 1/2 years

Still a lot of love for Torres i see ::clap2:: tbh whenever he's put the shirt on he has worked his plums off yes he didn't score the goals his price tag suggested but he never was going too, our system simply doesn't suit him we should never have signed that type of forward in the first place, however if we hadn't of signed him we would not have won the Champs league or the Europa so if he stays or goes cheers Nando a lot of fickle fans jumping on the hate bandwagon!

I actually agree with you for once mate. What are you doing back on here anyway. Actually what am I doing on here

No doubt Torres hasn't lived up to his price tag for whatever reason. However there have been some memorable good moments. Few and far between as they are.

For me:

That goal vs Barca

Getting the corner that led to the equaliser in Munich

His goal against Arsenal at the Emirates in the game we won 2-1

His Europa a League run including his goal and performance in the final

His injury time winner against City

Other than that bar a couple of goals in odd games there really wasn't enough to celebrate for a player who cost the club £50 million

Well this actually looks like happening now. Safe to say he hasn't been the player we all thought we were getting but he's got a few decent memories which he leaves behind. Really hope he finds his form in Milan, an in form Torres was always fun to watch (Even if he did play for that sh*t team in red).

Hattrick against QPR has to be up there as well!
