Yeah i think he couldve done better, but i wouldnt call it a blunder or anything

He should have done better with Marcelo's shot. Bale's goal was just after a great save though.

Should he have done better? Yes. Is he capable of doing better? Yes. Cech is easily capable of saving that, but it just as easily could have gone in. Hes let in several goals like that this year, goals "Courtois would have saved". This comparison back and forth every time they concede a goal is rather silly

He did do well, but didn't have loads to do dispite all of reals pressure, one mistake or error in a game of that profile can be massive, I like him and rate him highly just think is naive to think he's a perfect keeper (if there is such a thing) already.

Could have done better with the Marcelo goal, but his defence was basically dead on their feet and let him stroll through and shoot.

this story seems quite likely, another year on loan probably with Atletico and then off to the Bridge

courtois will sign a new deal this summer with an agreement that he will be number one in a years time after one more year with athletico. thats the situation as i understand it fro the different pieces ive read, and it makes perfect sense. he's an incredible keeper, but big pete isnt done just yet!

The thing is, he was supposed to have all but agreed a new contract before our game vs Atletico.

 

He seems to get cold feet about anything and everything every couple of days.

In his defense at 3-1 in extra time his mind was probably gone. Was probably mentally done. So I can forgive him that.. And I'm team chec by the way

So Cech is to have surgery on his shoulder, may not be fit for the start of the season & beyond, seems a great idea to send Courtois back on loan

especially as he could quite easily injure the shoulder again.

Believe i read somewhere in order to go back to Atletico for another season on loan he has to sign a new deal as he has run up the maximum number of loans to one club he can on an existing parent club contract.

 

So realistically either he signs a new deal and goes back there, or he turns us down and we sell him to the highest bidder, which would be another big profit on a relatively small amount we spent on him in the first place.

 

I'd sooner he becomes our number 1, but if he wont sign a new deal at least we can make good money on him.

We should cash in on Cech now and lets see how much we get for him 10-12millions would be really good he's on his peak and is just 32 can play 4-5 years at top more so I think a handful of clubs will be after him and I think P$G want him and looking by the offer they made for Luiz I think if we get a good one for him we should really consider!.

Exactly why there is no panic here. Either Courtios signs a new deal, gets another year at Atletico and then comes back as our number 1 and Big Pete either fights it out with him or asks to leave, or Courtios rejects the new deal, we sell at a big profit and have 4 or 5 years to find an eventual successor to Cech.

Also isn't Schwarzer in the same boat as Lamps in regard to contracts? It has expired but nothing to say it can't be renewed, just hasn't happened yet.
