Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Lets just wait and see if he still wants to be a Chelsea player come May

No he won't! He would rather play in the europa league with everton ........

Of course he will still want to play for chelsea. You don't think he will be in contact with jose during his time there? He is young and knows he needs to develop other aspects of his game. This loan period will make him even hungrier and when he eventually does get the nod next year he will be raring to go.

People need to chill out ffs

Didn't he come out and say he wanted to be Chelsea no1 striker by the time hes 21, well he's on track of doing that.If he has a good season im sure he will be with us next season. He wanted to play week in week out especially in a world cup year.

You can be sure of one thing, the better his performances get week by week, the more Jose will be on the phone making assurances on his Chelsea future so that he does want to return.

I hope.

Im not sure if you have noticed, but there are other clubs besides Everton and Chelsea

I can't help but wonder that if he had smashed in that penalty and we went on to win against Bayern, he would still be here...

Anyways regardless of that, if Torres does get his 4 match ban then Eto is going to have to step up to the plate and fast.

The main issue we have with Lukaku is a team in as big a stature as us or bigger than us come in for him, he will want to leave. If Madrid, Bayern or Dortmund (last one the most realistic) come in I can see him requesting to go. Just my view obviously.

It's understandable for people to be annoyed, especially when one considers he has already scored as many league goals for Everton this season than all of our strikers in 2013.

I accept the argument that the loan is better than him sitting on our bench, but personally I think he should be our starting number 9. Apart from his touch, he has very few flaws in his game.

Oh well, roll on 2014/15 when Rom returns to the Premier League champions.

I'm not into loving Everton like you all are, to be honest. I'm a scouser and my Mum, Dad, sister and brother are all reds. I also work as a steward at Goodison so basically I had all my mates who support Everton going 'Cheers for Lukaku, babe. You're not 4th no more.'

So basically I'm just pissed off.

Lukaku could have done very well for us this season, however Jose may not have given him a lot of game time so for his development where he is now is better in the long term. I think he will stick with his aim and come back and try to be our main striker. Next season at least as any more loans after this one might change his mindset.

I think the difference is that at Everton Lukaku is afforded a fresh start as "the main man" in a team committed to attacking football even at the expense of results, whereas at Chelsea he would be the benched kid  saddled with potential media buzz over his penalty miss. The environment at Everton is one of less pressure and hopefully after a stellar season he will return to Chelsea as the 'main man'.

This is a man who said he's wanted to play for Chelsea since he was young, this is a man who cried the first time he visited stamford bridge, this is a man who has came out and said his aim is to be a Chelsea legend, unless WE decide to sell him or loan him out again next season I can't see Lukaku requesting to go.

Modern players dont give two shi*s about their club, except for a couple exceptions. He's a young guy and easily influenced. I'm sure if he got the right offer from the likes of Bayern, Real or Barca he'd leave. Its insane that he's not leading the line at Chelsea. I dont know what drugs the board are taking but they must be pretty powerful, as we haven't sold Torres, or at least completely benched him. We have two crises, one in the midfield selection and one up front. It would have been nice to have had the striker issue solved but that seems too logical.

No that was a kid doing those things. A man, who has figured out how the business works and may realize that his chances at Chelsea may be limited, may want to leave for regular first team chances. He keeps playing like this and there will plenty big clubs offering that. Chelsea needs to get their act together and commit to this guy when he comes back. And when I say commit, I mean first team regular, not one start every three games like this bull that is going on right now.

I can't help but feel that if Lukaku were still at Chelsea he'd be 3rd choice, and we'd be stuck in the whole Mata/KDB situation again and again with people saying that he should be played.

he is out on loan, he is scoring, and playing well.  But like others have said 1) we haven't sold him. 2) He is gaining confidence and stated that he wanted a chance to play regularly in a WC year.

I also recall him saying that he had a good conversation with Jose as he left, and felt good about his future here.

Also, if he was 3rd or even 4th choice here, I bet a few of the "the club are idiots for letting him go" brigade would be saying "the club are idiots for him being on the bench all the time.  He'd have been better off on loan, as we never play youth....etc"

Its one thing to sit on the bench when we have strikers banging goals in - it's an entirely different prospects when our strikers are getting outscored by Mikel in the EPL.

This. Exactly this.

Seen the game yesterday , first half he was outstanding scored 4 (2 offside but was on the right spot) he passed , held the ball , defended was everywhere. Second half didnt get a decend pass but still worked hard (even on RB). After 65 minutes the tank was empty then started to make faults , still a superb performance.

I think he will ask to leave next summer. I dont see him ever being picked as fist choice while we have bigger names at the club. Two loans is enough, i dont think he will take sitting on the bench for us next season so if we wont give him the answers he will want then i do think he will ask to leave.

We all said last summer after his West Brom loan, which was a huge success that he would be back leading the line next season. That didn't happen.

Why should we think he'll be in our first team next season? If it wasn't so annoying it would be comical.

If another club comes in for him he would be right to move on. We don't treat a lot of the young guys with enough respect. Bringing him on for 10 minutes here and there is a joke.

We are seeing full well with Sturridge, Moses, Lukaku what showing a little bit of faith does for a player.

I agree with this, and at that stage i believe he will have us over a barrel as we would have no option but to sell with 2 years left on his deal. It will be all the more likely if he goes and bangs a few in at the world cup - if he does then i think we will be f**ked. Cant see him ever getting a game at Chelsea. The reason he was loaned out is he doesnt fit the mould of the striker required for the new style of "possession football" we are apparently playing.

I've already put £100 on him going to Borussia Dortmund next summer when they lose Lewandowski to Bayern

and before I have people jump down my throat about the previous post, I don't see it as an earth shattering disaster. The club will go on with or without Lukaku and the goals will come from somewhere. Just frustrates me that everyone, absolutely everyone could see this lad scoring goals this year - and so we loan him out to Everton and continue to struggle up front.

3 goals in 2 games for Everton. Torres, Ba, Eto'o combined - 0 goals in the PL this season.

f**king abysmal.

That's pretty much how I feel, some people will find a negative in any situation.

It makes me wonder where he would really be be in our pecking order though. On current form most managers would pick him over our three, but if he had stayed here he wouldn't have had as many opportunities to impress. Maybe his form last season for West Brom would have been enough to see him into Jose's starting eleven, or maybe the fact that Torres is playing his best football since joining us would have meant Lukaku is consigned to kicking his heels on the bench. Who knows... either way there's no point is whining about it after every Everton game.

My own opinion is that the loan move may hurt us this season, but it will be invaluable for Lukaku's development and confidence. I just hope we will reap the benefits from that next season.

Edit - any doubts I had that Lukaku would be back with us next season have been alleviated after reading some of the crap on this page.
