September 3, 201312 yr I'm still hoping that JM will start using Oscar in a deeper role, he's the hardest worker in the team, he's reliable, and he will only get better and better. No more excuses like 'he's too lightweight for the position'.
September 5, 201312 yr Oscar's gone and twisted his ankle in the Brazil NT training session apparently or so it says on my twitter feed. Damn!
September 5, 201312 yr You really have to wonder why players pick up so many injuries with the short amount of time they spend with national teams.
September 6, 201312 yr oscar and van ginkel would be very vulnerable, and naive at this moment in time, however id love to see them paired with Mikel and Ramires respectably, until they have matured into their roles. I think a five of van ginkel, oscar, hazard, mata, and willian, could be pure gold in years time. There are certainly a ton of midfielder matchups we can now play with having the crew of lads that we do
October 12, 201312 yr Another goal for Oscar last night. He's getting so good I think we should send him on loan.
October 12, 201312 yr Another goal for Oscar last night. He's getting so good I think we should send him on loan. Woah, steady on. Keep talking like that and you'll be given the managers job.
October 12, 201312 yr I think he'd be a great attacking left back like lahm used to be. he's good at tackling and can cut in and shoot from that position.
October 12, 201312 yr I think he could play well in any outfield position given to him but I think left back my be a bit of a waste of his talents. I'd prefer him in a deeper Midfield position where everything starts through Oscar to drive our attacks.
October 12, 201312 yr I think playing him at left back, if your aerie serious, G.4, would be a waste. I think he is too attack minded, and you would lose a lot of his effectiveness in being able to link up play. I also think he would move himself more centrally, and that would leave us over exposed down the flank, considering all he would have in front of him - directly - would be Hazard. I could see him playing more central, but I think he is best suited to the number ten spot, nor anywhere in a rotating attacking three midfield
October 12, 201312 yr schurrle would be much better bet at leftback imo...he kinda played there for a bit in our last game too. i could see him being quite lahm-ish in that role...although i'd rather have a real leftback than a converted one, schurrle is the most likely to be converted (although i doubt any will tbh). i don't really like seeing oscar starting in wide areas at all anyway. he's a great no.10 and he could be a great cm in time, but he's not at all effective on the wings.
October 13, 201312 yr if not leftback then maybe in goal. I know he's on the short side but he's shown great agility and his distribution is obviously first class so we would be able to properly play out from the back. especially if courtois does get sold then jose should seriously think about it. we should give him the league cup games in this position first then gradually ease him in so he'd be no.1 by the end of the season.
October 13, 201312 yr I don't mean to start any Mata vs Oscar discussion in here but I'm glad Oscar is getting his game rather than Mata as Mata is not performing to standard. Oscar runs around all day long he works hard, Mata doesn't just lack the required work rate he also lacks the stamina for it. However I do hope Mata gets more time than he has, I want him to prove a point later on in the season when we need our squad to start fighting for places and winning us points. I have a feeling Mata will end up proving a point later on in the season and show why he deserves a spot in the team and that he can fit into the system.
October 13, 201312 yr I think as he gets older and matures, I believe he will develop into something very Ballackesque, head up, strong runner, and fabulous passer, and also Scores goals, time will tell..

October 13, 201312 yr I'm not too sure about that, I'd say comparisons to Lampard are closer to the mark.
October 13, 201312 yr The fact he draws comparisons to so many top class players says a lot about his ability and versatility. I believe in 10 years and for a long time after we'll be referring to midfielders who can do just about everything at the highest level as Oscar-esque.
October 13, 201312 yr okay, a third idea, if we are definitely ruling out, leftback, rightback, chief scout, light aircraft co-pilot and goalkeeper: why not let him continue to play in his best position, where he's doing great things for club and country? honestly this obsession with moving him into a new position does my head in. it's the gallas in midfield debate back once again like a friend who isn't really a friend but keeps popping up in your otherwise preferred social circle. he could play in midfield, yes. because he does work hard and is capable of putting his foot in. but surely his best quality is his appreciation of space? and doesn't he have a natural tendency to play on the half turn? we could find loads of players who could tackle as well as him (if not better) and distribute the ball quickly and accurately to players in the front four. we could find far fewer players who can BOTH press high and aggressively as well as find pockets of space to open up defences and offer width when other players drift infield. stick him in midfield and you immediately remove all of that because he has to play primarily behind the ball and would be restricted to the type of defensive positioning that role requires. central midfielders, even the attacking ones, cannot be permitted to wander around the pitch looking for dangerous areas of space to occupy until their team regains the ball. anyway, I think the reason people are calling for him to play in midfield is transparent: it isn't really because he's decent defensively (because every true midfield player we have is better), it's to do with accommodating one extra attacking player. I think it's a stupid reason to move him from his best position, and would make us a weaker side overall anyway. we've got 6 players for those 3 creative positions and the most in form players will play. the others won't. and that's how it should be.
October 14, 201312 yr Just got off the phone with Jose and he's fuming. He is so pissed off he's decided to bench the lad for the rest of the season. Clearly this is a lesson worth learning, think twice before posting stupid suggestions as Mourinho reads this forum and takes inspiration from your serious opinions. Gordon check your e-mail JM wants to see you at Cobham first thing Wednesday morning, smart causal if possible.
October 14, 201312 yr Gordon check your e-mail JM wants to see you at Cobham first thing Wednesday morning, smart causal if possible. Toilets blocked again eh....
October 14, 201312 yr I stand by it, Timmy. Suggesting he could or should play deeper in midfield isn't stupid and doesn't mean you are stupid, but I think sticking him deep to accommodate an extra attacking player is a stupid reason to do so.
October 14, 201312 yr Before the season started I had said I would like to see Oscar tried in a deeper role because I think he has the ability to shine there. But seeing as he is currently our best player I see no reason to move him away from the number 10 role.
October 14, 201312 yr we could find loads of players who could tackle as well as him (if not better) and distribute the ball quickly and accurately to players in the front four. Yet we have none on the team and havent had one since Carlo was here in Ballack. What we do have in abudance are 10s/inside winger. I mean we have on the best offensive players in the prem, sitting on the bench together with as one of the brightest talents in Belgium who lit up the German league last year as well and this fella who didnt fancy Spurs. Its not like moving Oscar creates a huge void.
