Cesc Fabregas

Featured Replies

Not only is Fabregas not in the same league as Frank, they are completely different players, this has nothing to do with replacing him.

Hardly a stampede to snap him up is there? Barcelona are desperate to sell and no-one is really that keen on him by the looks of it. Certainly not at 30m anyway.

Can't understand why we would want to sign cast offs, especially for that price, if he is not good enough for Barca then he certainly isn't good enough for us.

I suppose whichever way you look at it, it's bound to be... pogbamatic.

(I know, that was hilarious.)

+1

That was rather brilliant hehe

Ridiculous post, if you really think hea not good enough for us when we have players like Ramires in the squad you really need to look again.

Sounds like circumstantial evidence to me...lamps goes, cesc just been told he can leave barca so that equals us buying him...doesn't strike me as a Jose player at all and 30m for a 27 year old, whose career has flattered to deceive yet thinks he's all that ? can't see it

He has the most assists in Europe you know, and the reason most teams are not in for him is because they have someone else. Arsenal have Ramsey & Wilshere, City have Toure, and erm we have Ramires.

DIdn't Cesc say something to the effect of "I'd rather be dead than put on a Chelsea shirt!"  Or something of that manner?

Cesc in for 30 and David out for 40 would be an insanely good couple of trades for us.

I said a few pages ago that there is no chance that this will happen. However it's looking more and more likely and I will gladly eat my words if it goes through. He is just quality.

There was probably a time when Ashley Cole felt the same and I bet Van Persie never planned on leaving Arsenal.

Who knows maybe Fabregas is gonna have to eat crow and go somewhere he doesn't want to. I certainly don't want him here mind.

This would be a massive shock and I do love to annoy the Gooners. But I doubt him as a player, he hasn't played at top level for a long time. Makes you wonder if he's lost something or whether he really just didn't suit playing at Barca.

36 La Liga appearances last season, eight as sub.

Scored eights goals and provided 13 assists.

Hardly dire form is it, I'm still struggling to understand why Barca are happy for him to go considering Xavi is 34 now... I thought the idea was for Fabregas to take over in the middle and that these first few years were for him to be fully integrated into the set up by the time Xavi stops playing.

He's been made a scapegoat, and that's it really.

CfCAN said we shouldn't be going for cast offs, but going for madrid and barca cast offs, tends to be good business.

Robben, sneijder, makelele, ibrahimovic all were made available at bargain prices.

I don't think you can call a player with 87 caps for best international side in the world in the last ten years a "cast off".

If he hadn't of played for Arsenal I'm sure a lot more Shed Enders would be more excited about the prospect of a very talented midfielder joining us.

But in the Football Manager enthusiasts will always have the perfect transfer strategy mapped out for us.

on the surface good stats, but negated by fact he plays for a club that dominates most teams in a league without much competition...if you're guaranteeed to have most possession and win games most weeks to the extent they dominate (Chelsea in the more competitive prem is a different story), then you should have assists and goals...

Top assists table for last seasons La Liga:

Ángel Di María, Real Madrid - 17
Cesc Fábregas, Barcelona  - 13
Koke, Atletico Madrid - 13
Carlos Vela, Real Sociedad - 12
Gareth Bale, Real Madrid - 12
Markel Susaeta, Athletic Bilbao - 12
Lionel Messi, Barcelona - 11
Alexis Sánchez, Barcelona - 10
Ivan Rakitic, Sevilla FC - 10
Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid - 9

Look at the names on that list, even in a more one sided league the cream is going to rise to the top and it's no coincidence that nearly all names on that list are household names in the world of football.

I do understand the point you are making but I don't thin you can downplay Fabregas's contribution in that Barca side, despite allegedly being surplus to requirements he still managed more assist and goals than Xavi and Ineista did this season (combined).
